The cartoon looks as though it had a 1920s style - listening to the song, I kinda figured it had a more contemporary setting - great job though, thanks for posting!!!
Well done and a bit eerie, esp when the lady dances with the taper; her body is mostly unclothed angled such that walking, let alone dancing, would be impossible.
The artist style looks alot like the artist who did the intro cartoon to the first Grease Movie with Travolta years ago. It would have been around the same time as this short film/cartoon and song;)
I love this video I remember seeing it when it came out on the Sonny and Cher Show, when I hear the song I see this video. Thanks for sharing it and bringing back great memories
excellent! I've loved her since I was two (31 now) in all her versions.
Find the cher dolls including the Mego ones -though they are very fragile due to age. carefully move her body when you get one because it sticks/is sticky and leave the hands alone, I won't tell you what my sis did to hers away from breaking both hands! Glad I got my grandma's one when I was old enough and not dumb!- Good Luck!
Love this song...just found this today(I'm only 13). I LOVE Cher. ^^ I've liked her for a long time too. And Stevie Nicks. I love her too. I need more friends on here that like old music. =P
I havent seen this since I was little boy either and it scared the hell out of me...in fact I thought the dark lady was Cher..laugh then i was scared of cher for a while until my mother explained that it was not her but a cartoon....laugh..
Again, thank God for Youtube! I remember watching this when I used to live in Chicago when I was 4 years old! I've lived in San Diego since 78 but this is one of those things I remember so well. Brings back some terrific memories, thanks for posting!
thanks for posting the video , i remember watching it when i was 8 years old . love chers voice and thought she was fine even back then ,a favorite song and love the cartoon ,been years since ive seen but i remember it like it was yesterday .great to see it again ,thanks for sharing it on here
@tonycarz Same here i was 13 , my sister really loved cher, I remember thinking the cartoon was cool even if the song wasn't that great. I certainly never thought I would see it again!!
Respond to this video... same here saw it when I was 13 with my sister who loved Cher. I remember thinking at least the cartoon was cool...but I never thought it would be accessible in 2011!!
I realize what I said earlier, it's been 35 years. The record came out in 1973. My best friends and I use to act this out before we ever saw the video.
I'm old enough to remember that it was part of the S&C show, on CBS, back in 1974 when it was seen from 8 to 9 pm and the song was a #1 hit (I would have been 10 years old at the time. I just always was curious why the woman who was basically Cher in the cartoon was a blonde?
Thanks for posting a true classic, in its entirety! Well worth the bandwidth investment, especially for the current generation, many of whom who have probably never seen the Sonny & Cher show with this cartoon!
This was one of many music videos animated by John Wilson (of Fine Arts Films), who also animated the titles and bumpers for CBS variety shows of the 1970s (like "Sonny & Cher"), and the opening titles for the movie "Grease".
Thanx for uploading the complete version... what treasure from the 70's! For something a little darker and less lady check out Varla Jeans Merman's version.

How old is Cher now? 104? 105? All that plastic in her is keeping her alive. Wonder if Greg Allman ever recovered from that night.....

I always imagined the Dark Lady as a voodoo lady rather than a gypsy, but Cher seems to use the Romani people in a lot of her work
