Lesson is to slow down and obey the speed limit. But why bother, the bike riders already know everything.......until someone is shoveling them off the pavement.
If the car driver , who failed to yield ,saw the bike and assumed a 35MPH bike, not a 65MPH bike,(guesstimate), they took a chance and made a turn in front of bike.
The bike with an alert bike driving at the speed limit had a chance to avoid impact.
Add 20 MPH to the speed limit and there is no chance.
The car driver gets a ticket and a fine. The motorcyclist gets a limp or paraplegia if he survived at all.
this is how a friend of mine died.the truth is that both of them are guilty cause 1:the car didn't yield and 2:the motorcyclist was going too fast for a place like that. It's the exact case how my friend died.so if your the judge, choose who's going to get the blame?
It's funny how folks feel they need to state the obvious. Of course the car failed to yield the right of way. But do you suppose the rider was going too fast? Do you think he recognized that car as his greatest threat? If he did, surely he would have slowed so, just in case that car turned, which it did, he would be able to avoid a collision. Failure all around.
@aligerous You are an idiot. If every vehicle did as you suggest no one would ever get anywhere. There are laws and rules of the road to be followed. We ALL have to have a lot of faith and trust that the other people driving will follow the simplest laws - like when there is a vehicle diving in the opposite direction on the road, you don't turn across their path. Period.
@dwilliamsamh And for all those who can't make a point on YouTube without the name calling, like williamsamh...let the games begin. Being legally "in the right" doesn't always save your life, especially on a motorcycle. This rider was a perfect example. I'm not sure how my suggesting a rider maneuver to increase his/her safety makes me an idiot. Trust other motorists? Never !! Always assume they will try to kill you and be ready for it. Always have a plan and be asking "What if...?"
@aligerous The only way to be perfectly prepared for every idiot who decides to break the law and turn across oncoming traffic is to drive around at 5 mph.
Of course we have to "be prepared" and drive defensively. But the car cut in front of the bike without warning. The reason I called you an idiot is because you try to make this accident even partially the motor cycle rider's fault. I ride. He wasn't going that fast. Even 25 miles an hour into an immovable object "looks" like "fast."
@dwilliamsamh you have to ride like everyone's out to kill you. because as stupid as everyone on the road is, they might as well actually be trying to break your neck.
@Ghettobootywhiteguy I will repeat what I wrote earlier: of course you have to drive defensively - especially on a motor cycle. But you CANNOT be prepared for every eventuality and person that changes lanes without warning in close quarters. Not. Possible.

Cool how everyone just kept driving passed... The ladies that did react just decided they would stroll over there after a few minutes. People suck.

The fault there definitely lies on the driver of the car - failure to yield right of way to the motorcyclist. That's horrible.
