Why not? All a hood does is make it look a little cleaner (to some people) and maybe save a few MPG's. Probably runs better without it. And it shows off that beautiful engine. Win win situation if you ask me.

It was mechanic driving it. That engine is much to clean to have been in their long, I.E he just dropped that CAT engine in and is doing a test drive to make sure all is well. Absolutely nothing illegal about it, since semi's don't run the lights through the day at all, and he had the rear turn signals, the ones that count, AND he had a plate somewhere (in cab) that is specifically for repaired vehicle test drives.

@Chinook249 no, its a mechanic on a test drive. did you see how clean the engine was?? that thing was removed, rebuilt, repainted and reinstalled... took out it for a spin to find any kinks or hickups in it before they put the hood back on and call it a completed job... looks like that 3406E model CAT runs strong... im pretty sure that single turbo E model pulls harder than any of those p.o.s. post egr, dpf bullshit they be havin around these days... you can thank california for that
