He uses a volume pedal to swell the note. He's probably got some other effects on, probably some reverb and stuff.

Its using a delay. I havent got my pedal with me right now, but you want kind of a slapback effect. And then play the chords whilst volume swelling. Thats quite a brief description but im not with my equipmetn soz
