that tells you how old this video is the big building in grand junction the one people are going to in now close ans the building next to it or behind it is the new station in grand junction
Too bad but classy private cars do not pencil out any more (they are a very expensive luxury) But then passenger rail does not pencil out no matter what. AMTRAK is the dregs. Looking at the Trans SIberian videos that does not pencil either. (But if you do the homework air travel does not pencil out either! The dollars just do not cover the costs).
I rode aboard the Yerba Buena when Sam Girdler owned it. Arranged by Herb Wuesthoff who arranged many private car trips for me and others of the RROC. Great Memories aboard this and the Virginia City also! Yes, most of these folks are dead now but the memories live on!!

Keep in mind that I-70 hadn't yet been built through Glenwood Canyon.

I have always contended that if I hit the lottery I will own a private car. I'll do the cooking myself though.

@stonefoxvideos I think they had the best camera available at the time, since that was filmed back in the late 1970's.

Nice. I have ridden Amtrak's California Zephyr train several times between Reno, Nevada and Chicago, Illinois in a first class sleeper.

Solder Summit is the only part of the Rio Grande I have actually seen. I've driven over it a few times.

Utah is sagebrush desert, where Colorado is more forests. They are both beautiful, each in their own way.
