Alright tons of requests for the tabs, can somebody tab it out please? I'm doing it now but could use some help, send me a personal message if you wanna help out.
@seppie1203 ... it would take me a long time to tab out, seppie. This is all just improvised ... why don't you buy my book/DVD so you can learn how to think about music and how to view the fretboard. Then you can invent your own melody lines and you'll never ask for tab again. :-)
@planetalk :) If I had known you had a book/DVD I would have bought it. I ordered 3 books on Samba, Bossa Nova and Brazillian Jazz guitar not more then 4-5 days ago. The tabbing is not as much the problem, it is indeed the frickin time it requires. nice pitch to sell your book btw ;-)
can you give me some arpeggio tabs then? cause you had some pretty funky icky dirty stuff. i really liked it and i enjoy playing to muted/reggae style chords too. that short choppy sound is awesome with classical music.
I loved and played this more than 100 times myself. The only reason I could possibly imagine why nine people gave this "thumbs down" is they were disappointed not to hear this played through the end. I was also disappointed not to find this version available for sale on Amazon as a downloadable mp3. :) Other than that, this is outstanding, an immediate pick-me-up!!!
one day my friend i will put words to this piece that will put your tears back into your eyes, for this is the most beautiful piece of music I have ever heard.I'm enchanted and valid, thank you!
Notes and lines, holding hands. A story for you, a dream coming true. Reality. Stains of old, memories to mourn. Days passing, ever so slow. Telling a tale, the music flows. A river of emotions running down. A warm welcome. Don't hold back. Let it go, leave it be. Emotions drowning in harmony. Feel.
all the little ducks in a row bossa nova row sharps and flats you know dressed in chords living in flats mending while on the go borrowing tomorrow ..it's a go...gravity status flow..patient so patient growing old
Amazing, yeah! I couldn't quite decipher what scale you were soloing on there, I would imagine G major, the one I used to solo this piece, or ore a D dorian, but it's the same hubub.
Is there anyway I could download this the chord accompaniment alone? It's just so lovely, and playing a lead to it is truly inspiring.
Yes, nylon string would be nice, but then the rhythm guitar is nylon. I like the contrast,
The posters below are right: I base my lines off the chords, not scales. I was never very good with scales and modes, I'd rather arrive at my note choices via the chords ... you can't really go wrong then, and I hate being wrong.
I agree with Kirk, chord tones are most deffinately the way to go when it comes to improvising. I too studied scales for years and years, but found myself relying on chord tones when improv most of the time, without even relizing it it. My solos just sound much more natural using chord tones and less mechanical and robotic. Peace.
I'm playing along to the Bossa Nova I wrote for my teaching site, kris. That video is here at YT too. You should see it in the column to the right, I call it 'Sugar Loaf'.
You listen hard the first time through, hear what chords they are and then start to work something around them. Chords become 'hearable' with enough practice and application, and progressions do follow patterns, but, if you wrote the progression in the first place, like in this case, you know the chords!
Key of C; I don't really ever think scales, so I can't say which were used in this. I follow the chords and build my melodies using chord tones. It's a much more efficient and safe way to improvise in my opinion.
Well then you do use scales, you just don't *think* about scales: they're the heart and soul of chords. For every chord there is a scale that fits over it. Trust me, I do the same thing.
You really did an amazing job,
great performance!
