Yeah my mom works for Georgia Power at plant hatch in Baxley,GA and Southern Company owns GA Power Missipii Power and all the southern Power companys and Southern Company actually owns Southern Linc so my mom has a Blackberry Curve PTT and I had one and I had unlimited everything for only 27.99 a month but I got verizon since Southern Linc only worked in southern USA and barley in Flordia but I'm going to get another linc the i1 Android linc for Christmas can't wait to hear that chirp again lol

yeah nothing beats the nextel chirp - id still go with nextel- Motorola and Nextel were the first one to pioneer this so they have the upper hand- even if it sometimes says busy.

I have Verizon Push To Talk now on Boulders I got that after canceling my service with Sprint/Nextel because every time I found myself needing to use my phone my Nextel wouldn't have a single. Having both been with Nextel and Verizon I would say Verizon hands down, I want to know that when I need that phone I'll be able to use it Verizon gives me that peace of mind and the PTT service is just as quick and clear.

I have Boost Mobile (it operates on the same network as Nextel) and it's amazing. Fastest, most reliable nationwide Push-to-Talk by far.

I think it's funny that AT&T and Verizon try to compete with Nextel when it comes to direct connect. Nextel is the only one worth using so yeah Verizon and ATT&T can suck it.

Verizon has a lot better coverage than nextel and sounds clearer but when it comes down to push to talk nextel is hands down better and quicker. Verizon ptt just doesn't do it.

Sprint Nextel remains the fastest most reliable direct connect service in the U.S. period. This is a fact.

coverage? Verizon and ATT are bound to their data parameters which is mostly metropolitan. Sprint Nextel can be in mexico,central america,south america and connect @ SprintSpeed in under a second!

Reliability? verizon ptt has been out since 2002. Why wasnt it used in katrina if its so great?

I had Nextel for a few years and they were good until they went with Sprint after I has so many Issues and customer service use to be helpful when it was nextel but not with sprint. I waited a little over a year but no change so I left. I now use hipvoice walkie talkie its extras make up for the delay. I can walkie talkie a pc, any smart phone that has hip voice, I will blackberry when the app comes out for it. No more push to talk walls. $10 a month for hipvoice app works for me and my workers

haha, ya, verizon ptt is just a great joke to tell at a party. Nextel will always be number 1 w/ ptt, and from my experience the best coverage period. in my general vacinity i have never seen lousier coverage then verizon. "its the network" that pisses you off

I think AT&T PTT service wins here, It's sooo slow, it makes me crack up. Why even make a PTT AT&T? It makes your service suck even more.

I feel the future of PTT will be over a high speed data link. iDen will fade away in the future. (sadly) Now the race is on to make the fastest mobile data service. So far, looks like VZW is kicking tail data wise.

Nice "side by side" demo. Nothing against Nextel - it is a great service but their coverage leaves a lot to be desired. Have been using a Motorola Adventure V750 since late July and the Verizon PTT is fantastic.

I also work for Sprint Nextel and the reason why our New QChat handsets are not intended to work in areas with 1x coverage only is to ensure the Voice Quality of our push to talk. What good is a walkie talkie phone if you can't understand what the other person is saying? Or even more frustrating, having a delay of more that 2 seconds. I've been working with Sprint Qchat for about 2 years and the quality and speed of the communication is outstanding! Sprint-Nextel 5 years of experience = No 1

this video totally annoyed me and I'm using my little sis in law's account. I work for sprint. To even compare iden to cdma FIRST of all is just dumb. You just can't compare like someone just said "apples and oranges" Another thing...the qchat is only the newer sprint/nextel phones. On the strictly Nextel phones, it's not available. The new sprint ptt phones don't have to have 2 separate #s either. The voice # can double over as the ptt # Anyway...Sprint wins the ptt battle ANY DAY. :)

Nextel all the way man. I got my i880 and that's all I need. And if you have to know why the Nextel phone made the "User Not Available" sound is first because the phone that was open and screen black was on "standby" and the second time was because the Nextel phone on the table was already engaged in a DC conversation. So, for you to hit cancel on your phone and try to beep them again right away, it's basically like getting a busy signal if you try and call someone.

umm yea you can't compare nextels dc with verizon, because when i went to a little ranch in mexico over the summer. No phones got signal over there, but my nextel could still use dc unlike my cousins verizon, it was useless, he could only get signal when we went to the city, unlike the nextel it had no bars in the ranch, but the direct connect worked fine. Can verizon do that?!?!??!?!?!

by the way, learn how to use walkie talkie with nextel, stop wiggling the button around and pressing it 3346346 times to intentionally make the nextel look like its not working. oh and the i850 that you are trying to beep - that phone is OLD. you cannot get a faster or more secure walkie talkie connection in ANY PHONE other than a pure nextel. i can set up a verizon phone in a menu then make it hibernate, then it looks like it sucks too. this video shows nothing except you bias to verizon

Verizon's walkie talkie uses verizons data network, which is slower than sprint's Rev A. Verizon/Sprint have roaming agreements to use eachothers towers. So... basically sprint & verizon phones have identical coverage, with the difference that sprint's network is much much faster. so if you use verizon, set your phone to ROAM ONLY, or just buy a sprint phone

Its only slightly faster on 1x and is still over 1 second EV-DO. As an iDEN user, I reject this. I think a lot of other iDEN users will also reject "Push to wait"

Have you tried Sprint's new QCHAT? Not exactly the best PTT deal. iDEN is great, I have had it since 1996 so I am not a VZW fanboy. I have been with Nextel much longer than you I am sure and iDEN is not going to be around forever. To make it better, I also have a Southern Linc account which is iDEN. iDEN is a very good network, but it's extremely outdated. Too bad stupid fucking Sprint and Qualcom eliminated the best PTT solution which was QCHAT over Flash Flarion OFDMA

Q Chat is the shit i have a Evo and a Sanyo Pro-700 and i forward all my calls to the Pro-700 when im working. Because of the hybrid(Sprint/Nextel), its the best of both worlds. They do still sell Hybrids at sprint.
