The Million Dollar Man was always fresh to death in the gold trimmed suits with Virgil holding the dough...LOL He and Hogan feuding is the stuff of legends.
@shadowedge69 There is that, but it also was well known that Dusty Rhodes AKA Virgil Runnells was a racist and many people believe this was Vince's way to insult Dusty.
Ted Dibiase was partly right...he didn't get to buy the WWF world title from Hogan BUT 10 yrs later He and Hogan were on the same side as Heels in the NWO...took 10 yrs but Hogan had his price.
i totally forgot about craig degeorge...he was better than sean mooney and alfred hayes imo...unfortunately he was only around for a short time during few months surrounding wrestlemania iv., which is the only reason i remember who he is
@domirules28 craig degeorge was good. he was better then Tood Pettengill was. as far as big time announcing, i bet he could whip Michael Cole if he wanted to
agreed. i glad i got inducted into wwe hall of fame now about time WWE release a dvd docuntary on him he deserve. i read his book he has very stories about his life and struggles plus in wrestling career in WWE i had great feuds like hogan, savage, jake roberts boss man, rhodes, piper, virgil, as tag team with Irs feud in the natural disaters,Razor ramon it's oblilovs
Isn't DiBiase technically a former WWF World champion...Kind of like when The Giant won the WCW World Title by dq...DiBiase was the one stripped of the title and it wasn't given back to Andre or even Hulk...Which in my opinion makes him a former WWF Champion...Does anyone else feel the same?
@RMilvae No. Andre may have surrendered the title, but it was an illegal surrender. Therefore (at that time) the WWF President (on screen) had every right to vacate the title setting the stage at WrestleMania IV. As far as DiBiase being a former WWF Champion, again the answer is no, but then again, according to the rules (stated by the WWF President), neither was Hogan or Andre.
This angle may not have been the longest, but it set DiBiase up as Hulk Hogan's Lex Luthor for years to come in my mind! Everytime someone tried to "kill Hulkamania" after 1988, from Zeus to Sullivan to HBK it made me think they were being influenced offscreen by DiBiase's cash.
@lildwayne21 Storyline was great - but almost an exact duplicate of what Larry Zybysko did w? Killer Tim Brooks for the Georgia Nat.Title (83). The big diff is that when Brooks sold the belt - Zybysko was stripped but won the tourney (DiBiase was originally planned to). Original storylines: Austin/McMahon rivalry (anti-hero vs. boss), the lengthy way Kane was introduced & feuded w/ UT, HHH marrying Stephanie, Michaels/Ramon dual I-C champs/ladder match - they weren't exact ripoff storylines
11/28/09: The interview where Dibiase said he was going to buy the title aired 22 years ago today. I know because I was in the crowd and am watching my VHS recording of that Superstars program right now. I can't believe it was that long ago.
@bobolob Sadly he always has been. I read his autobiography. He also pisses and moans about "certain types of speech", but that he "supports" free speech. Yeah right. On the flip side, he is one of the nicer guys to talk to.
In hind sight Dibiase should have won the title at WM4 and then dropped it to Hogan at WM5. Don't get me wrong, I loved the Macho Man, but Hogan vs Dibiase would've been where the big money match would have been after all this build up to nothing.
The only problem with that is Hogan bounced in '88 for a long stretch to shoot No Holds Barred. That's why a title switch was in order in the first place. But yeah, even a partial run would've been great...could've still had Savage/Hogan at WM5
Um no, evil westlers just couldn't leave wrestlemania as champion, people wouldn't have stood for it. And the megapowers exploding was huge. A feud between Hogan and Dibiase couldn't have kept people's interest for a whole year until Wrestlemania 5
@Kilik11 yeah that's why i could never understand the story that Vince wanted to put the Title on Dibaise at WM 4...having Savage (RIP) win it in the tournement made much more sence
people got big pushes back then because in the wwf of those days you had to be a ring veteran with stints in various territories before you could even get a shot in the wwf.. green despite what the marks today say was unheard of in the wwf of that era..zeus was the exception
Hulk Hogan is so selfish. He could have helped all those little Hulkamaniacs, especially the ones who aren't mentally 'on the money'. But no, he just wanted personal glory. Sickening.
Bockwinkel would've made sense. For one, he was well known to everyone. For two, Bobby Heenan could've been his manager like he was for nearly a decade in the AWA. And finally, even at 53, Nick Bockwinkel was still in fabulous shape and had a great feud with Hulk Hogan just four years previous. In hindsight, it worked out great
it funny when Dibiase came to WWE in 1987 i suprised they gave him the push so soon and having feud with hogan he' was lucky then at the time but he never had even won the wwe championship buying the belt it's going to make you champion. no matter dibiase will always be my favorite heel to hate as a kid and hope he does get inducted into the WWE hall of fame if not this year hopefully next year.
@boneplayer032003 That's because he was already a VERY proven in-ring performer, and he did very well in face and heel interviews, so it made great sense to bring him in, do a few of those promos showing how rich he was(haha), and then put him in a headline story.
@boneplayer032003 Exactly. Dibiase's was hand selected to be The Million Dollar Man by Vince M. He said if he was a Wrestler, that would have been the character he would have been. It worked 100%. He should have had a run with the WWF title, but the Mega Powers feud took over and he lost steam.

"All those little teeny Hulksters that, mentally, aren't right on the money..."
By turning down the Million Dollar Man, Hulk Hogan set back the efforts to help the mentally handicapped.
Sad.
