By the word of my power? Biblically, where is this notion of my words having authority to change my situation? What about God's ultimate and sovereign will? What about God's providence concerning our needs being met?
@neekvom85 I think this song means that as born-again believers, we have the authority to confess and speak God's Word over any situation that is contrary to His Will, i.e. sickness, lack, spiritual defeat, etc. The Word clearly says that we are to "call the things that be not as though they were," Romans 4:17. Sadly so many Christians accept sickness and defeat and lack when Jesus has clearly redeemed us from that, but its up to receive by faith and walk in everything God has for us.
@qctwin Romans 4:17 refers to God giving life to the dead and calling things into existence the things that do not exist. Phil 4:6 tells us not to be anxious, but through prayer and supplication are we to make our request known with thanksgiving. Paul and many of the disciples were ill, shipwrecked, beaten, hungry, imprisoned, rebuked, poor, and homeless, and they were God's elect. They were willing to go through anything just to share the gospel of Jesus Christ.

We must serve God from a place of faith and contrary to popular belief TRUE FAITH will not come in any other fashion but to hear the Word (Romans 10 v.17). Most of us think that the will of God is automatic and that couldn't be further from the truth-we have a part to play and it starts by opening our mouths- It is by believing in your heart n confessing with your mouth ur saved Romans 10v.10)
@chill7th The Will of God ISN'T automatic???? WHAT? It was God's will that his son was obedient to the point of DEATH. God does what he wants in spite of man. God is not subject to man, for he is sovereign. He's created us for his glory. The only reason why we can confess and believe in him, is the faith he gives us. No man comes to God, for no man chooses God; and none is righteous. Its by HIS GRACE through the FAITH given to us that we are saved.
@neekvom85 Read the word. In Genesis we were given authority over this world. God works through man b/c this is our realm. The natural. He is able to do exceedingly abundantly according to the power that worketh in US. We choose God and God chooses us. It's our decision to be saved. God did not make us as puppets. We are responsible. God can't work through us, lest we let him. God created laws and he follows them.
@cliffe98 I didnt make it up, Romans 3 says that no man is righteous, nor does he seek God. We offend God because of our sin, and the wages of that sin is death... We will only confess and believe in Jesus (Romans 10), if God elects us to do so.(Romans 9). We can choose God, only if he has FIRST chosen us... You are right, we are not puppets, but we are HIS creation, and he will do whatever he wants. We are subject to God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, not the other way around.

We are judged by Christ no longer sinners. He chooses who choose to be chosen. He does not just do as he pleases. It's our realm. The natural, physical, not spiritual. God can only work through us. God calls all few are chosen because few listen!

Even if I was, all that Jesus does is to please the Father. He does nothing outside the Father's will. Keep reading John 5...God can only work through us? Wow! John the Baptist told the Pharisees that God could raise stones to be his people. (Matthew 3 and Luke 3) He chooses to use man. He's not obligated to do so.
