  • This was one of the most emotional games i've ever played

  • Yet another masterpiece from FFT soundtrack. Back before Princess Luna was shown in Season 2, I always thought this track would fit her as a theme because of how fans kept portraying her in written fiction.

  • I just love this track so much. It conveys sadness perfectly.

  • This is my fave track.

  • I love Tactics...

  • Sakimoto was a master at using woodwinds and bells. Its all over his work and its pretty divine.

  • @pineapplepeanuts thank you, i've trying to pinpoint the thing that makes Sakimoto's music stand out, now i know it was his use of woodwinds and bells

  • nvm

  • One of my favorites from the track. My goodness, this track is gorgeous.

  • Best song in the game. Hands down..

  • The more I listen to this piece, the three main characters' themes become more apparent. The wavering strings perfectly conveys Ovelia's gentle caution, with short interludes of Delita's theme - a kind of dark, jaded clarinet solo. The French horns in Ramza's theme seem to represent his strong sense of moral justice. They all come together to make such an intriguing dialogue, the music carries each character's moral dilemma, what a beautiful piece.

  • Delita and Ramza shook hands for the last time... WTF! Shake hands? After all those years of training and murdering together? They should of hugged and kissed each others cheek and get in each other's faces! This is Europe for Christ's sake!

  • I'd strangle a tiny kitten to hear a live orchestra play this song :P

  • @Grey249

Ramza's theme at 1:23 is so powerful beyond imagination. That dead kitten is worth it.

  • 1:23 Ramza's theme needs an orchestra.

  • Yeah, this game had a powerful story to back-up the gameplay. This (among others) are the reasons i'm always telling people that a game doesn't neccessarily need HD graphics to tell a good story.

  • I cannot remember who is the one Ovelia was having her conversation with when this bgm is played. Help anyone?

  • @ViscountKiljaeden As far as I can remember, this track was used in two pivotal scenes. The first where Ovelia is told by her kidnappers about her true origins, and the second is when Delita and Olan talk about his plans, while Ovelia hides in the background. They're pretty powerful scenes.

  • @1Cortexiphan Thanks man. I think I have to play it again for the fifth time.

  • @ViscountKiljaeden

It also plays during a conversation between Delita and Ovelia. :)

Here's the scene from the PSP version where it plays (starting with the piano version):

    youtube.com/watch?v=fMDwioDiESc

  • Oddly enough, this reminds me more of Wiegraf than Ovelia thanks to that tragic new scene in War of the Lions of him mourning Milleuda's death where she died where this song plays in the background. Then Loffrey shows up and gives Wiegraf the first step to give up all of his dreams and what he cherished...

  • I love this song so much...

  • and my father who tauhgt me to a real man of god

  • mother im glad i born fromyou

  • brinngs back happy memories of my dad and mom

  • @thezirk No. It's that he will get to live his life in peace, no longer hounded by Heresy Examiners or warmongering tyrants. It's that he has a chance at freedom when everything else seemed to point to exactly the opposite such life.

  • This song is amazing.... I can just picture playing this game hours on end while listening to this song. Thank you for uploading this song.

  • Love this damn song, love how they mix a bit of Delita's theme.. Ovelia's theme and the main theme.

  • Ovelia is one of the top tragic heroine's in RPG history.

Her life was mostly bad news. Everyone used her. Even those who claimed to care for her.

In the end, she lost it, and killed Delita, who really did love her. But Delita used her more than anyone, and that was her reason. Delita also killed her, but at that point, I really doubt she cared.

  • @PhoenixSiefer Ovelia killed Delita because he used her as a pawn. The whole story Ovelia is shat upon and never treated as a human being...

  • Probably the most under-appreciated track in the game. This is really pretty.

  • This is my favorite track in the game one of the greatest pieces composed. Thanks so much for posting =)

  • An incredible song from an incredible game.

  • You can save Love and desperation in this song. Ovelia was agentle soul ,Delita never understood. In fact Delita ceased to be a human after the death of Teta but death of Teta was an accelerator. Delita would have become A manipulator anyway. Even before Teta Episode his lost for power and his complexes where showing up.

  • God damn I forgot how good this OST was..

  • I don't think I remember hearing this song in the game. But it is a beautiful song. (:

  • "They ought to make an anime of this game." As good of an idea as this sounds, I think they'd just screw it up. I mean, you just said it yourself, Advent Children was crap. They could just as easily screw this up, especially with verything that's going on in this game. If they got it right the first time (Which they did), they should just leave it alone. Anyway, to be on-topic, great track. I really felt bad for everything Ovelia went through. Delita was such a selfish, manipulative prick.

  • Despite how much of a prick Delita was, he made the game that much better.

  • Well, you could have it be a comedy where they cronicle ramza doing a solo quest.

    Weiraff: "Ramza... draw your sword!"

    *Ramza's eyes narrow"

    Ramza: "Aaaaaaaaaaaaah!"

    *punches Weiraff in the face*

Weiraff: "Ouch! Wtf I'm dead already?"

  • Why does everyone think Delita was a selfish prick? Man people you really need to get a grasp of the storyline, play it through again or something. Delita was made out to be selfish... but if you pay attention at the end Orran states all of the good Delita did. The assassin which tried to kill him, he let live, Orran he let him go. It was all for the good of Ivalice. Ovelia at the end didn't know and thought he was selfish and he did it for the wrong reasons, but he didn't.

  • @PhoenixSiefer I agree Delita was awesome and had reasons for what he did

  • @PhoenixSiefer I agree. Delita lived life with "the end justifies the means" kind of mentality. That doesnt make him a bad person. In fact, i think the game contrasts ramza's perfectly as he always tried to do things the right way. Delita got things done but was betrayed and left alone in the end. Ramza was hounded and shunned but got a happier ending.

  • @PhoenixSiefer Glad im not the only one who thinks that. I think he was misunderstood more then anything.

  • I'll burn this kingdom down and from its ashes build for you a new kingdom. A kingdom worthy of you!

  • nice2....thx a bunch 4 uploading this..

  • They ought to make an anime of this game. Seriously, how can you read the script and NOT say: THIS is my next anime, my next manga, my next CASH COW!! I can just imagine, this song playing while we see Ovelia shedding tears, while Ramza looks on from within an old building, seeing Agrias comforting her liege... WAY better than that 'Advent Children' crap...

  • AC is just an action movie, if you're actually looking for a story in AC, then you're a fool. If you want to see an RPG with a good story other than this, I suggest you play Persona 3 or 4.

  • @onehundred10million if Japan and America actually cared, then they will make an anime, but im trying hard to make a comic (if my drawing skills are actually GOOD)

  • @thedementedkid64 dude, go for it! And hey, if that don't work, you could write the script, and find some artists on the internet who'd kill for a project of THIS caliber!

  • @onehundred10million friggin aye! there gotta make an animation of this piece of art. It's incredible!

  • @onehundred10million to me I think this game's story would make an excellent play

  • @shanethefox final fantasy tactics musical?

  • @kouyung lol, hell why not

  • @onehundred10million Have you seen the updated translation of FFT? It's even better. Absolutely phoenominal story.

  • @mooseclamps No psp. No money for a psp. And too early (and I think illegal) to get it on emulator. Besides, the original was good enough. No need for a retranslation

  • @onehundred10million I don't have a psp either. The boys over at ffthacktics (a website) have a patch you can apply to the FFT.iso. You can emulate it with the correct translation. It improves on the original sooooooo much everyone should try it at least once if they can.

  • @onehundred10million

Indeed, the plot is very amazing. I have yet to see a story as good in a RPG game.

  • @onehundred10million

Sorry to cockblock you there chap but plot itself is indeed good... as a matter of fact too good for simpletons of mainstream.

  • @DzoGavert Who said anything about mainstream?

  • @onehundred10million

Nowdays its hard to find producers for niche products.

  • @DzoGavert FFT ain't niche, it's as epic and straightforward as Lord of the Rings.

  • @onehundred10million

not epic enough apperantly to make it to Dessidia or Duoceim then...

  • @DzoGavert Dissidia is for mainstream. I'm glad FFT didn't make it. Shouldn't be put along with the other losers.

  • @DzoGavert I wonder...say Final Fantasy Tactics did make it mainstream would you hate on it then simply for the fact that its mainstream?

  • @cheeseburgification

that depends on what kind of state mainstream would be. Mainstream isnt bad because its mainstream, mainstream is bad (adleast at present) because it promotes over simplistic design of main protagonist overcoming the dificulty and all ending well without bigger dive into what is evil or good or giving a bigger look on to the other side of the conflict. Also mainstream media these days is like a burger... its cheap, it must be good and leave you satysfied.

  • @cheeseburgification

With that said, Final Fantasy Tactics isnt a material for mainstream since its... how should I say... too healthy... too nutricious for dumb ass watered down low attention span mainstream which cant grasp anything more then simplistic forms of "your the bad guy die!".

I will never hate FFT even if it would hit mainstream, but in order to do that mainstream would have to be into such sophisticated themes. I dont see that happening in a million years.

  • @DzoGavert I don't know if you can read this with your head so far up your own ass, but Final Fantasy Tactics IS mainstream. Try playing a video game without Cloud Strife in it some time.

  • @CodPor

Yup... so mainstream that in fact too mainstream for Ramza,Wiegraf, Agrias, Orlandu or Delita to be considered to Dissidia /sarcasm. Also offending other people doesnt give you any credability. This comment you made is a blant subjective opinion with no facts to back it up whatsoever.

  • @DzoGavert Final Fantasy Tactics has sold over three million copies. It outsold both Dissidia games (which do not feature characters from FF spinoffs) combined. It is more popular (by any standard you care to name) than any of the first five entries in the series, and the Final Fantasy series is about as mainstream as RPGs get. FFT alone has sold more than twice as many copies as the entire Mother series, and more copies than Chrono Trigger, Breath of Fire, Lufia, Lost Odyssey, or Morrowind.

  • @CodPor

That still makes a paradox then. If Final Fantasy Tactics is so succesful then how come it still didnt made into Dissidia? Perhpas because it wasnt the story that was so compelling but gameplay? Would FFT still be such a cash cow if it would cling to another atb turn based system? If so wouldnt it be another kingdoms in war, morally torn main hero game like FFIV? If a game sells well than it doesnt mean that everything is good about it.

  • @DzoGavert Again, Dissidia does not feature characters from FF spinoffs. It isn't a question of mainstream or not. FF Tactics is simply outside of Dissidia's scope.

  • @CodPor

    And why shouldnt it?

  • @DzoGavert I am not a member of the Dissidia development team, and thus have no say in that decision. Stop asking me stupid questions.

  • Then I will tell you why. FFT claimed succes because of its unique gameplay and not story. You cant make a high profit on a story that's not meeting the mainstream demands. Last time I checked mainstream was interesed in big swords when it comes to FF Franchise? How can I prove it? Look at how many spin-off and cameo appearances other FF has and how many FFT has. Have you seen Ramza or Delita in KH? I sure didnt. Hell! Even Setzer from FFVI (US III) made it there!

Do I need to say more?

  • @DzoGavert ...Setzer didn't lug around a huge sword. He threw cards. Although personally to me the story in Tactics is one of the best in any game so far. It's just more real. The only reason Tactics didn't show up in KH is because it's not a numbered game, and that's a good thing. KH ruined so many good FF characters, Setzer especially.

  • @IMadeAllThese Also, here's your dealbreaker: Mainstream means something that is known well by the masses (To the playerbase, FF Tactics is VERY WELL known, more known than most numbered games). Or, a Mainstream product can usually be identified as something made by the big dog companies that everyone knows about (Square, for example.)

A good video game and company that's NOT mainstream would be more along the lines of Shantae and the Company behind Shantae: WayForward.

  • @DzoGavert FFT's story meets the demands of mainstream RPG players. Cloud's sword arose from a need to make his design distinctive in a game with extremely limited field graphics. Kingdom Hearts is made by Tetsuya Nomura, and only two FF characters not originally designed by Nomura were included. FFT's characters were designed by Akihiko Yoshida.

  • @CodPor

Yet somehow they continued the big shiny sword theme (Squall, Tidus) and still keep at it (Lightning and armored Lightning) and for whatever reason they dont turn back to FFT story which supposedly meet the demands right? What demands does FFT story meats? Do we see any similiar stories done in the past or made in the present by square enix?

  • @CodPor

The only thing closely related to FFT nowadays is perhaps that new PSP tittle "Type-0" and somehow I dont see much hype from fandom about war between countries. Why is that? Anwser simple... there is no demand for fighting countries in FF franchise atm, so it has no chance to be mainstream right now, thus no chance for a bigger recognition or movie for FFT.

  • @DzoGavert FFT also has swords. Every game in the series has swords. FFT features themes present throughout the series, including: family members turning against each other (FF8), false religion (FF10), and a larger war surrounding the PCs conflict (FF2, 4, 9, 11, 12, and 13). Type-0 is no more related to Tactics than any other FF spinoff. Keep pulling arguments out of your ass, I'm sure your head needs more room in there.

  • Compare how much we see sword emphasis in FF7,8,10 and how much we see in FFT. Oh right... Ramza doesnt even have a default role or job in battle. Why is that? Because that is one games sell points. Look at commercials for FF7,8,10 where we have all the flashy sword swinging. What do we have in FFT? type in "Final Fantasy Tactics Original 1998 Commercial (PSX)" and watch: Build and Army, Prepare your Army. Control the Battle etc... More emphasis on gameplay than the basic storyline

  • @CodPor

Also offending people give you less credability.

  • @DzoGavert Making shit up gives you no credibility.

  • @CodPor

Because you know what is true or what isnt and still cant answer why FFT doesnt have a movie despite the fact is so mainstream as you claim it to be.

  • @onehundred10million Advent Children and FFVII are popular because they cater to their target audience more. Everyone thinks you're this great guy, and you have two hot babes after you. In Tactics, Ramza struggles in a world where practically everyone is working against him.

  • to me ovelia is always great for bringing sad tear jerker scenes to the game.

  • This is, if not the best, one of the best tracks in the game.

  • Yes, this is probably my favourite non-battle theme.

  • This one is great, but my favorite non-battle has to be the theme at the beginning of Chapter 4 with Cid looking out the window. Love that.
