  • Hey good video Mcfly!

  • Comment removed

  • The Mustain lead sound doesn't sound like it at all. Either the Les Paul pickups are coloring it or the playing suks

  • I love my Line 6 M13 effects modeler. The effects are good, except for the compressors. You can only have 4 FX on @ a time, but it has its own loop to add more. I rarely need more than 4 FX anyway. @ any rate, having access to 75 FX (incl. all delays from famous del. ped) all in a metal box with just 1 long power cord (wart not on end!) is a great thing, & most of the FX are really good. Plus, in manual mode, it auto-remembers settings w/out any programming! 4 great distortion, need tube amp.

  • oh not Marty again

  • I didn't hear a single thing hear that couldn't be duplicated (sometimes better) with a hundred dollar V-Amp.

  • @SonyV1U trust me, the difference in breadth, depth, clarity, presence, openness is huge. Cant convey this enough. I REALLY do not want to have to spend this kind of money if I could just use a V-amp. I have owned about 6 pre-amp/MFX units and rocktron stuff just kills all the modeling stuff. absolutely fucking KILLS it. in both feel and sound but especially feel. I tried eleven rack recently too - I havent tried the AXE though but experience suggests crappy feel even if it sounds good.

  • Now that I think about it, People like Metallica have a bunch of these things in their racks, how do they get controlled? It doesn't seem like there are 5 pedals to control them individually, Can they go into a single pedal, or, In the case of a big band like Metallica, Do other people do it for them?

  • @TheEternalLeader Midi controller.

  • @TheEternalLeader James Hetfield and I believe Hammit both use Voodoo Labs Ground Control Pro. It is a midi switcher that plugs into their entire rig. They basically pre program everything and with the press of one swtich all of the effects they have are turned on or off at the same time. Just check out Voodoo Labs on google. Also Metallica has a gear page and tell you all that they use.

  • @grpcreach Who would want to have either a bunch of FX or no FX at all? I was reading about that Trimode distortion pedal from Radial, & it has an FX loop on the lead channel, meaning FX are on w/ distortion & off when clean! Who plays like that? It's on cleaner settings that I want more FX, & with distortion less, but I want certain FX on both sounds! Can't replace the versatility of stomp pedals or a good pedal-based board, IMO, w/ this. L6's M13's good, only 4 FX at once, but has FX loop.

  • @grpcreach Thanks bro, you're a life saver. Maybe I won't have to lug around 20 pedals every night now, although I guess racks are heavier, so maybe that's not all right =_=

  • @grpcreach Rocktron recently came out with the midi raider which is very similar but better features apparently. Rocktron also has the All Access which is top notch pro level switching system but its way overkill for me and its also a thousand smackers. The midi raider is 400 bones

  • If there's all those effects, how do you know which one you've picked with the foot switch? I usually gig with around 10 or so pedals and this seems pretty useful to replace them, or I might just get the Line 6 POD HD500 but I'd like to know more about this.

  • My Digitech does all that shit.

  • @Alxscode Those DNX 4 models seem to have everything! The guys from Guitar World use them, they must be good. I've rarely seen them advertised, though. Sometimes I think they put too much stuff into these boards. I used to have a Roland FX board, I would kill to have again! For what it is, I do like my L6 M13. 75 FX (only 4 at once, though) w/out all the cords, in 1 metal box, is pretty cool. 4 live, I will prob. get BOSS GT-10, or DT1000, but still use M13 too. None of them are perfect, yet.

  • @AVEIL I had a GNX4. the awful tone made me want to vomit. I sold it after a few months. I had a digitech 2101 years ago and that sounded very good. but digitech stuff is so absolutely horrific these days. very cool options and features etc they are great with that but if sounds terrible or FEELS terrible, then who cares? bummer cuz I never WANT an effects unit etc to sound bad. especially one I bought! lol Rocktron sounds best imo for multieffect unit. they feel the best by far.

  • @Alxscode and sounds like absolute shit. I had a gnx4 and played an rp-1000 and an 1101. really dug my 2101 I had years ago but my god the newer stuff sounds like dog shit. sorry, not slamming digitech cuz I never want fewer choices - and their prices are great. but god-fucking-dammit if they dont sound lifeless and narrow in frequency response and just feel like crap. I was so bummed when I played the rp1000 : (

  • i got a question about that one...im looking for effects... so can i just use this like a standard effects pedal, with in and output, ant put it into my preamp, which goes into the poweramp?

  • I gigged with a Voodu Valve for years, and certainly got my money's worth, but it was always lacking a lot of important elements. I bought a Pod XT Pro to replace it and liked it better, although it wasn't great, either. This doesn't sound any different than the Voodu Valve, and I think the Axe Fx is the best one out there, but it's not quite there yet, either, and way overpriced. It will only be a matter of time before they perfect this technology and the prices come down.

  • I love Rocktron stuff, I had a VooDu Valve, but I just got a Line 6 POD X3 Pro and I think it sounds way better then this, except the pitch/harmonizer, that does sound awesome. But the amp models are way better on the POD X3 pro. IMO.

  • play the guitar. ill read the instrutions when i get it.

  • This modeling amp kick ass, the other day I was playing with one of this in a recording studio and blew my mind, don't confused with line 6 , line 6 sucks , this amp is a different animal.

  • If you want something cheaper buy the Utopia floor thingy ( i have the Utopia G100)- awesome tone for us who want both classic and modern. Rocktron rocks.

  • 2 grand? really? Is that one of those new Rack-Stools that Walmart sells?

  • 2 grand? really? Is that one of those new Rack-Stools that Walmart sells?

  • price?

  • 5:33 i thought he was gonna play the intro to fight fire with fire by Metallica.. lol

  • @VELAZ209 I can see why..

  • Will this work with a combo amp?

  • The Axe Fx is a cool unit, but it doesn't sound like a "real" amp or have "real" amp feel...that's fucking nonsense.

  • @TimeLordGuitar It doesnt. Played it, heard it a million times, NONE of the modelers are quite there yet with authenticity of response and feel of a real tube amp. Listen to anyone's tone on youtube, you can tell its not an amp because the bass frequencies have that airy WOOF to it between notes. Which has me thinking why would anyone spend 2 grand + on a modelling preamp when they could get the real thing for the same and grab a couple of good dynamic and ribbon mics for recording the cab.

  • Not even close to AXE FX you idiots.

Axe fx owns it, just listen to this shit in real life.

  • @buymeamic dude, this was the axefx in its day before fractal audio was a company. a few years ago, this unit was the top of the line, as the axefx is now. this is up to par with the axefx in almost every dimension.

  • @abysslord16

What else can i say? I hear a HUGE difference in dynamics with AXE FX and Prophecy?

I'm not Axe Fx fan, but Axe Fx is more realistic and have nice high end high frequencies.

  • @buymeamic thats cool man, and there are differences, this unit is probably 4-5 years old now, while axefx is recently new, im just saying the prophesy was a huge step in the right direction for digital preamps, im just saying in terms of history this is like an elder of a tribe of preamps, you have to respect the past, because without it, we wouldnt have what we do today.

  • hey its paul from guitar world

  • That chorus effect at 5:45 sounds amazing!

  • Comment removed

  • Me like!

  • Wow this is so much better than the Axe FX, and cheaper now. I just never knew about it must have been too overpriced when it was first out.

  • good guitar+ awesome guitar preamp + probably a gigant amp behind + a good player = make yourself ilusions

  • look at the head stock of his guitar at the beginning. its all dusty. its never played at all.

  • @GuitarFan1996 not exactly a sign it's never played as much as that it's not taken much care of. Dust collects whether you play them or not.

  • @GuitarFan1996 My headstocks are all dusty as shit and I play a lot every day, it just never gets cleared out under the strings. I dunno what the fuck kind of guitar you play...

  • dude looks like rob dyrdek

  • Processors? Where we're going we don't need processors!

  • AXE FX!!!.....YEAH...

  • @panteraman44 Too much hype... Not worth it.

  • rocktron make awesome products

  • I own the Rocktron Prophesy II Guitar Processor and run it through a Carvin 50/50 TS100 Tube Power Amp and a Carvin Legacy 4x12 cab loaded with celestion 25 watt greenbacks. I also have a BBE 482 Sonic Maximizer in the rack that I use from time to time. I get some great tones out of the Prophesy II.

  • lol i didnt recognize that pal's face, but all of sudden his voice came in:D lol funny

  • I play the Prophesy for several years with Marshall 2x50 end amplifier, box Engl 4x12 with V30. Excellent sound.

  • the price...?

  • abaout $1500

  • so if i were to get this with a power amp i would plug in the guitar to the preamp, then preamp to power amp, then cab yes?

  • excactly

  • BC if you can, then it would seem this rack, a good power amp and cab combo would give you fantastic tone with tons of possibilities. If not. well Fuck it I guess.

  • Yeah. There's a lot of valid criticism. But keep in mind this sound is coming from midi and through a computer. My question is, if you ran it through say a Mesa 50/50, 2:50, 2:90, Engl, VHT, or Marshall tube power amp and through a respective cab, bearing in mind this piece is surrounded by analog, would you get that authentic, complex tube tone?

  • the tubes of the power should "tube" up the sound a bit.. as in make it sound warmer... it may never be completely tube sounding, but the prophesy is a fantastic sounding preamp regardless

  • is it me or all these super-duper mega racks makes your guitar sound fake and unnatural??

  • some do, some dont. most digital ones will make it sound a little (or a lot) fake but i have noticed alot of analog effects and stuff make it sound more natural.

listen to any boston song, 100% analog (i think =P)

  • @twiggymac Boston were proponents of the first digital amps.

In fact, their rhythm sounds are direct out from those little 80s pocket/headphone amps.

Strange that such an identifiable sound is from such a lame piece of gear.

  • @twiggymac: i came across to this vid cause i was doing some research abouth those kind of guitar racks. but in a sense, some more and some less to me they all produced a flat sound, i guess it's about the AD/DA coversion. in my opinion it is better to use this kind of processors only for very complex sonds, with multiple effects layered. and NEVER rely on digital multieffect preamps for compression/distortion/sustain. but it all depends on tase and use, so this is just my point of view.

  • They mostly sound like directly out of the studio. It can be very cool, depends on what you want to do. And, as always, some fit your playing, some dont. Youll have to try some out.

  • w00ps i knocked it off muh stuuuuul lol

  • somebody please tell me what the hell he was playing for "organ grinder". fantastic!

  • lol there goes 2 grand!!!

  • $1200.00

  • lol $1349.00 to be exact lol

  • Dimmub its not all solid state it has a 12ax7 for on of the 2 higher gain channels weirdly they don't put that on their advertisements of it.

  • wht is the rockston tht alexi laiho is using??

  • ur guitar key tuner kinda dusty!

  • im guessing its all SOlid State?

  • There's something that I don't understand

All those sounds come from this pre amp or do I need to buy an amplifier apart?

  • Its just a preamp, you still need a power amp and speakers to hear it

  • why do I need a power amp? it can't be connected to a combo amp or an amp stack??

    thank you

PS : I'm new on this stuff :S

  • it would work plugged into a combo amp or amp head. But it would probably be best through a power amp

  • you can use a head and cab, a combo, or a power amp.

  • power amp would be your amps head or your combo's equivalent.

  • The Prophesy sounds great recorded DI but it takes a fair bit of work get to get it great through the amp (I use it with a Mesa 2-90) also try some analogue pedals check my vids for DI recordings using the prophesy!

  • i really like mustaines clean sound

  • looks like a pre-extinction vcr

  • I own one. It's absolutely got its strong points. However, most of the presets and effects are useless fluff that you'd never actually use. With a bit of time, you can get some good sounds. I've gotten that AC/DC british-type sound, as well as that old-school "and justice for all" type Metallica sound, and once you've got it, all you have to do is turn the dial to switch from one to the other. So, it's versatile and worth the price in my humble opinion!

  • It's Michael J. Fox...lol

  • @slaginess Back to the Future..( or Back to guitar word).hahahahahah :)

  • @slaginess this guy is much more annoying

  • herman li and sam totman suck ass. worst guitar players ive ever heard

  • Does anyone actually here about dragonforce anymore?

I haven't so they must suck

  • not the worst but def really close

    lol haha

and edge and tom morello arent that good either

  • What a stupid thing to say.

  • sam's just as good as herman

  • they are both shit

  • this man speaks the truth

  • herman li rack

  • can you plug this straight into a amp.or is it rack (pre-amp)

  • preamp.

  • cheers mate :)

  • Yeah, you figure with its size, it would have a power section.

  • that's not dave's lead sound... cool though

  • mike j fox broth?

  • I hate when people say "preamp" when referring to effects...

  • Both Herman Li and Sam Totman are talented, but everything they wrote from Sonic Firestorm to Inhuman Rampage was repetitive as fuck.

    Listen to Demoniac.

  • dude they suck they record their solos slowly and edit them to be fast, they can't really play those solos live

  • Bullshit. I saw Dragonforce about a month ago and they performed flawlessly.

Unless you're their producer, I doubt you know what you're talking about.

  • actually its true and everybody knows it except for the few fanboys left to mindlessly defend dragonforce

  • Cite your sources and give me proof. I might believe you then.

"Common knowledge" is not a source.

  • i dont have to cite sources to know that herman li and sam totman are shitty guitar players. this isnt a damn essay it is my opinion

  • Comment removed

  • even though you removed your comment.......yes whether they can is by definition an opinion....nice try

  • The reason I removed that last comment was because I thought this was about whether or not the Dragonforce solos were sped up in studio. Either way, it came out as a similar point.

  • Link me one liveshow where they play flawlessly?

Never seen one where they get even close to their records.

  • watch?v=baSxJBcwkRo

Granted, they can't do an exact replication of the album version because there are only two guitars.

  • .. thats your view of playing flawless? ;O

Thats just... well, its just sad really. :/

  • Guys, I have a Randall RH150 G3

I want to buy Prophesy II to play live.

Do you guys recomend to me?

    heavy sound?

    Sorry my bad english...

I have some demos on my profile.

    See you

  • how would you control it from the floor? which model controller do you use?

  • behringer fcb1010. just gotta learn how midi works but the manual is decent.

  • ...here we go...

  • Does this guy ever do anything without delay? Seriously....he only ever advertises to the novice musicians who will never achieve anything in their so called career. I would be more interested in sounds that are naturally produced because. When being realistic about most music, extra effects are only a way to highlight certain passages. When was the last time you ever saw someone playing rhythm with an over killed delay or an abused effect series. I want to know how it will work on a daily basis

  • Herman Li and Sam Totman use it to get their solo lead tones. Sounded like they said that's ALL they use to get it.

  • Hardly any digital artifacting using the harmonizer with chords. Amazing!

  • i am considering of buying the rocktron prophesy one. does someone have any opinions about it ? how whould you describe the sound?

  • When he first looked up I was like WTF!! MICHAEL J FOX!!

  • hahahahahahha

  • haha,That's what I thought too!

  • Wow look at how young Paul looks (not that he looks old now), this must be an older video

  • Just bought a Prophesy II and it is the finest guitar processor I have ever played through in my 22+ years of professional gigging. I use it with a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier and 4x12 Mesa Oversized cab. The tone assault is spine shaking. Hands down you will never regret picking this up.

  • i was thinking about running this through my mesa triple rectifier but im concerend with the fx looping. since the outputs on this requires 2 L and R and 1 L and R returns on the prophesy while there is only 1 send and return on the mesa. Also i thought that running this as a preamp would essentially make the mesa sound irrelivant as this took over. Is there a way to bypass the preamp on this prohesy and just use it as effects, regardless does this not kill the mesa sound?

  • Yeah you can bypass the Prophesy preamp and use your Boogie preamp in the loop of the Prophesy to take advantage of its pre-effect section and place the Boogie pre anywere in the signal chain. And don't worry for your tone, it will stay untouched.

So: Guitar - Prophesy input - Prophesy send to Mesa input - Mesa send to Prophesy return - Prophesy output to Mesa return.

For the mono thing, I asked Rocktron cause I wanted to insert a mono preamp in the loop and they said that it's not a problem.

  • the organ-one was good

  • would this be good for progerssive metal

  • I can't believe this thing is a bad buy.... correct me if I'm wrong, but the control surface seems incredibly powerfull and the sound that it gives (I'm a metal player!) looks limitless. I've already enjoyed the G100 pedal and I'm totally sold to it's sound. In my head, the Prophesy is the way to go

  • Sounds rubbish, the Boss GT-10 sounds better

  • Boss GT-10 Sounds too digital,

    not natural one

  • LOl gt-10!! this thing costs more than 3 times more than the GT-10 and is 50 times better sound.

  • agree

  • how do you use a rack effects processor like that? does it say in the manuel. i would like to know cause im a fan of rusty cooley and he uses it.

  • this is a preamp-connects just like a pedal would, guitar goes into the preamp then the preamp goes out to your poweramp.. u can get a dedicated poweramp or u could connect this preamp into your amp, if u have a head that can serve as your power amp. ur better off 2 get a dedicated poweramp because u get stereo sound then. L+R speaker out into poweramp then L+R out into your 2 cabs. for a new player spending 5grand on a rack setup might not be worth it, just get a good quality head

  • so would this work:

    VHT Two/Ninety/Two Power Amp

    rocktron prophosy II

    diamond 212 cabinet

  • it sure would! great choice btw, the vht 2902 is a great poweramp for hard rock, great tone. n the prophosy is about the best preamp u can get- so thats a perfect setup choice

  • thanks, im just looking to get a certain guitar players tone at a budget.

  • Dave Mustaine lead and clean sound not it is... Tone is completely mistake...

  • oh my gooood!!!

    MARTIN!!!!!!!

  • shit man, its Marty Mcfly!

  • HAHAHA he does look like him!! lol

  • what pre-amp does everyone here think is the best? im thinking of getting one and a vht power amp

  • this, a lee jackson, the digitech gsp somethin, marshall jmp-1, mesa triaxis-to name the best

  • Triaxis is god, I have a prophesy and really like it, u gotta tweak though :D and understand it.

  • Rocktron Voodu Valve!

Best bang, better tone than Prophecy for your $.

  • Lads these things are great until you gig with them, good recording tool but it simply doesnt compare to an all valve audio chain. Use the money to buy a good Rivera, Mesa, Fender or similar. I have the Prophesy, Boss GT 10, Roland VG 99, Line 6 Vetta 2.. All great fun and incredible technology but they sound like a toy in comparison... Just my opinion but for this amount of money you should at least do an A/B test!

  • perhaps when you're turning up for your gig your amps voicing is starting to come out

  • ?how much does it cost?

  • $1800 American.

  • $1300 Musiciansfriend!

  • i got one for 600€

  • damn the WAH effect is crazyyyy !

  • Herman Li from Dragonforce uses this

  • i need to know too if i can plug this in to my fender asap!

  • Could i get this and plug it into a standard amp?

  • Comment removed

  • did he just plug in the preamp and the cab?

or is there a head included, casue that alters the sounds

  • You generally use them into a power amp. Various companies, including Mesa, Marshall, and others, make them.

  • or you could just use a tube head of an amp :D

  • You generally use a power amp. Mesa, Marshall, VHT, ect. make them. Or you can go into the PA.

  • paul is awesome :)

  • he uses here we go like johnny demarco uses check it out.

  • I run this pre-amp into a Mesa 395 stereo power amp and a 4x12" Mesa EVM 12L loaded cabinet. I don't think I could get a better

combination. If you don't all the money for a

Prophesy the try the Rocktron Voodu Valve it's almost as good.
