@garble i have 2 juveniles. they are fine in my freshwater tank. they are not easy to keep and being carnivores they are very picky eaters when young,. i have had mine for 2 months and they are just getting onto freeze dried blood worms.
nice spotted climbing perch! im pretty sure theyre brackish water fish tho, i had no luck keeping one in my old freshwater setup. i want to get another but it wouldnt last 2 minutes with my evil angel fish lol
my leaf fish so far has eaten a male kilifish, a small algae eater, and a boat load of ghost shrimp...the algae eater and kilifish was unintentional since I was leaving them there while i was renovating my 10 gallon, next thing I knew they were both gone....
Just to answer a few questions, this is a carnivorous fish and they'll eat almost anything, you just have to train them. I mainly feed mine freeze dried krill, Hikari Cichlid Gold floating baby pellets and Hikari micro wafers. They'll eat fruits and peas too if you want to go that route. I fed mine a small piece of banana one time and it ate it up. In the wild they mainly feed on smaller fish and shrimp.
Beautiful fish. How big is it? It's funny but when your video first starts and the fish moves toward the camera it looks so much like CGI even though it's real. I've had mine for about a year it it's about 1.5".
how do your zebra danios do and the dwarf gourami do? i have 5 zebra danios and i want to get a dwarf gourami i have a 10 gallon tank so your help would be apreciated :)
That spotted climbing perch would need to be moved to a bigger tank eventually they get the size of human hand sometimes. They can fit even a tetra in it's mouth after 4 years old
even though the looks alot like leaf fish , that not what they actualy are( but commonly mistaken, they're called leopard ctenopomas, spotted climbing perch, or leopard gouramis, they are semi-agressive and will only eat fish small enough to fit in their mouths.
They have HUGE mouths. The smallest fish we can keep with ours are 1.5" Blue Rams, and they have bright, bulky fins to make them look bigger. If you love your danios, get a new tank! If you don't, at least make sure you're around to watch the African Leopard Bushfish eat them.
