  • dubstep

  • this thing would make a hell of a psyntrance party DJ

  • TETRIS!!!!

  • Now that's what I call shock and awe. If you notice the thing is incredibly loud. Just listen to the people in the background.

  • sounds like TRON : Legacy

  • Also there is Tetris Theme .

  • Before the underground theme... what's the song playing? Doesn't sound like Mario.

  • DO NYANCAT!

  • Cracked brought me here.

  • охренеть!

  • You are just missing the bass line

  • how much money to pay on electric bill???

  • @333stalker I don't know, but I'll bet it was shocking.

  • @GlennMagusHarvey OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • this is the coolest thing i have ever seen

  • 1:00 heheheheheeheh :-))

  • hahaha the fella dat walks onto the left of the screen at 0:24 and starts raveing

  • trzeba być debilem żeby robić zdjęcia błyskawic z flashem... co za pojebane ludzie, pewnie ameryka.

  • Tetris ftw!

  • Wonderful video ! More Tesla on videos: "Tesla cold electricity" by HorizonDelta

  • one jedi and one sith in the bottom of the video hehehe

  • @zougras lol Palpatine up top

  • lol it took people long enough to figure out what the song was

  • So who composed the house song at the start?

  • Amazinggg . <3 (:

  • 2:50 is that iron man to the left lol

  • Ahora se de donde vienen los sonidos de mi amada musica electronica !!!! n_n !! Mario Bros Rules!!!!!!! (tetris too)

  • Tesla was a genius! ^_^ And maybe still is... mwahaha

  • Why the music is playing sometimes very fast and than really slow? Is this by chance or could this be influenced es well?

  • @engywuck85 It depends on how fast the belt in moving inside of the shaft of the Tesla Coil. I saw one today myself and it was really cool too!

  • @freeski911 Sounds like a Van de Graaff generator to me.

A Teslacoil works with a primary coil with a couple of turns and a secundary coil (the large cilinder) with a lot of turns.

  • super!!!! thats cool :)

  • I noticed the Mario Minor bit.

  • freaking awesome!

  • This is by far the sickest thing in existence.

  • most intense thing ever, I'm showing this to my physics teacher..it's perfect because we're studying waves haha.

  • this is truly amazing. i love music and especially music coming from nature. you guys are brilliant! make some instruments haha!

    well done!

  • its coming as much from nature, as the sound in the speaker of a game boy.

  • lmao, this is what happens when a college kid plays his gameboy during an electricity lecture in the 90s.

  • tetris kicks ass

  • How does it play music like that?

  • Explaination...

It does this by flashing (really, really FAST) and affecting the air around it... this causes the air to vibrate, and transform itself into sound waves that are audible to the human ear.

  • You know the "ZAP!" you hear when static electricity hits you?

    It's that

  • by varying the resonance extreamly fast by turning it on and off super fast

  • ARGH! Stop taking pictures of LIGHTNING with a FLASH!

  • lol

  • @DeJayHank what if they want there friends to actually see the tesla coil in gr8 detail...

  • @DeJayHank Actually, the lightning would be brighter than the flash, using a flash in this situation would actually show the coils in the shot. without the flash you'd probably just see the lightning by itself.

  • @DeJayHank LOL I did that!!

  • @DeJayHank but what if they want to see the coil itself in the picture?

  • I was gonna ask what this sounded like 'in the flesh'. And what's this talk about needing amplification??? the air around the arc is explosively ionised causing an immense pressure wave - Lightning is loud enough :-)

  • You wouldn't need an amp for this. Amps are usually to make things louder, this would have been loud enough without anything to make it even louder.

I imagine many people would have been covering their ears. Telsa coils can be quite loud.

  • much better with 2 tesla coils..

  • здорово

  • @ dofty, so true!! Even cooler to play it live on stage :)

  • Huh, talk about Techno...

  • How awesome wouldn't it be to hook that thing up to a keyboard.

  • One sounded like a Bowser fight theme to me.

  • I wonder where they keep this when they don't use it...

  • in a warehouse maybe? :P

Well this goes to show that gamers can be great geniuses :P

  • how awesome would this be in your room ^-^

  • wouldnt it be theoretically possible to connect this to an amp just by getting another noder (or kathode i always mistake them) and connect it to an amp and let the bolt hit it? i mean sure you would need to switch some equipment in between to change the voltage but would it be possible? and what would you need?

  • I'm pretty sure that the lightning would need to be powering the amp w/ the same amount of energy it is rated for, I mean, let's say a (hypothetically) Nintendo DS requires 12v AC, I'm pretty sure that Tesla Coil is emmiting a lot more than that and second, (correct me if I am wrong) but doesn't lightning go through the path of least resistance?, so how are you going to aim it at an amp's power port?

  • so you say the energy would be way too much to let it run through an amps signal port?

  • I think you're right, except maybe they put up a lightening rod like apparatus? or a safe box?

  • You need 10,000 volts just to get a small 1 inch or so arc of electricity in the air. This is much more than that. While it would be decently easy to get the bolt to jump to the input of an amp, it still wouldn't do anything though. The electric bolt is only going to supply the amp with input... the output would arc from the amp to a ground, which would fry the thing.

  • now thats what i call electronic music

  • digged

  • this is one bad ass party trick to show.

  • 1st tune appears to be "Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy" for anyone still wondering

  • what is the second part do you think?

  • Isn't the first tune one from MK? Just guessing, tho.

  • how did u build this? did it cost alot? is it just a tesla coil with some kinda music inlet pluged in?

  • What is the name of the first tune? I really like it :)

  • it was something from tetris

  • at first i was chilled. but then i serioused the fuck up.

  • I lol'd!

  • that was fucking AWESOME!

    BAD ASS TUNES TOO!!!

  • *watches with jaw hanging open* i had no idea tesla coils could do that... or that you could control them like that... wow... That's amazing...

hahahaha... there must have been so many nerds and mario fans in the audience at 1.05... the cheer that went up... priceless. XD

  • Whats the song at the start I want to learn it but i cant find it anywhere

  • TIM IS DIK

  • AWESOME LIGHTNING! XD~~

maybe the lightning will play ZELDA'S THEME. XD

  • 1st song sounds like sweet dreams-eurythmics

  • I'm guessing that the first song was Mortal Kombat...not exactly sure. This was pretty cool.

  • nope i was wrong sorry

  • tetris theme is the first 1 i think

  • The one after super mario theme is the Tetris theme

  • Lol! This is not tetris theme. This is an old russian folk song "Korobeiniki" ;-)

  • They're the same thing.

  • whats the 1st song

  • i'm wondering the same thing.

    care to share?

  • Yes quiet cool, but it would be better if it plays Goa sound ;)

  • Brilliant.

  • Daft Punk Style

  • lol

  • thats what i was thinking. the second part(just before mario) sounds sooooooo familiar

  • Tetris?

  • umm no tetris comes after the mario bit.

  • 1-2 lmao

  • Kudos on the awesome Tetris themesong as well.

  • LOL crowed goes nuts for mario

    =D

  • AMazing

  • fuck!

  • Awsome:D

  • I seriously wanna learn how to do this!

  • That is pretty neat. Is there a such thing as a tesla coil that isn't solid state? Just wonderin

  • I'd like to know what the first thing was too?

  • what is the first thing it played? i recognized mario in the middle, and tetris at the end, but what came first??

  • sooo great

  • no wonder there's a -do not cross- line xD

  • tetriis was real fast

  • tetris was too fast

  • that is AMAZINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

  • does no one notice it played "Tetris"????

  • It also played mario in there.Lol

  • HA! I was at that con :D

  • hahaha at 1:19 som random kid shouts "MARIO!!!" as if it isnt obvious enough.

yes i am going to say it.

    LOL

  • *gets smacked in the face by 'lol'-induced shockwave*

  • fair nuff.

  • haha everyone freaked when they heard mario. that was cool

  • How stupid a person needs to be to take a picture in there with a flash..???

  • That thought came to me as well ^^

  • i went to see an imax film.

these tourists were taking pictures of the screen.

    idiots

  • what does having a flash camera have to do with it.

  • if you have a long exposure AFTER the flash then it'll work man... so i dont know why do you think it's stupid ;)

  • I think that's stupid because I'm a photographer... and no matter how much time you expose the film AFTER the flash, it'll all burn with the flash light, don't tell me if you give it a long exposure time "darkness with un-burn the film"....

  • If you thought chiptunes were geeky, think again hehe.

Such a crazy concoction of physics and music, resulting in a beatiful display of light and sound, a perfect synthesis of culture and technology.

The best thing I've seen on youtube for a good while.

    5/5

I especially dug the first theme.

Best thing I've seen on youtube for a good while.

  • Nagyon szép és hatásos bemutató volt! This whaz a wery good end beaudifull effectual demonstration! How to made thet hi make a sound?! With powerfull transistor?

  • anybody knows the name of the first theme ?

  • How fun =) I'm not sure what the first song is, but afterwards it goes..

Mario underworld theme (video game song), lead into Korobeiniki/Korobeyniki/Korobushka which was featured in Tetris (a video game, to keep the connection going), and at the very end it's a sped up version of Domino Effect by Ozma, a band known for their cover of Korobeiniki! Good job Tesla guys

  • Alright, for those of you saying it's a russion folk song, try and make the connection from a mario song to a tetris song...both video games? Makes sense? Yeah. The first song is probably from Castevania or something haha

  • Russian folk music is "Korobushka", a song about a reach negociant =)

  • what are the red/blue lights at the bottom of the screen when the coil is on?

  • Looks like neon tubes. They will light without fysical contact of the arc to the tube. The neon molucules are excited by the magnetic field produced by the Tesla Coil. =)

  • three words: W-o-w!

  • words ???????????????????

  • Take me to your leader.

  • Id like to hear this thing play the song Free bird by skynyrd

  • Did someone just make a flashlight photo of the coil?

  • That was the camera's iris reduction light. I understand that tesla coil photos have a bad problem with redeyeXD

  • THATS FRICKEN SWEET MAN

  • This is soooo cool, i like the first theme

  • whats that first song that he plays? i recognise it from some where but i dunno where..... and yea it aint the mario theme its just the song that they play wen u kill bowser i think...?

  • @Manamix666 - The Mario song played is from the second level (or any level set underground) of Super Mario Bros. for the NES.

  • i cant wait till some wome gets hit

  • yeah! some womb getting hit would be cool!

  • Why isn't the lightning hitting anyone?

  • supermegageniusdude. appropiate name for such a question?

  • I don't remember saying that, Shwamperoos. I guess my brother was logged on as me.

  • Yellow police line caution tape is plastic and noncondictive.

  • they play tetris at the end

  • you stupid, it's russian folk song

  • i agree and the russians do know there electric's

    (C+C:redalert)

  • It'd be funny to see a Tesla coil in Red Alert 2 to do something like this when no one comes to attack.

  • It's very possible you're both right. Tetris is a Russian game. There's a good chance Alexey Pajitnov(The guy who designed Tetris) put Russian folk music in the game.

  • So anyone know the name of the first damn song?

  • music always help me sleep!

  • tesla is god

  • yes they did you dope.

  • no you retard. they played a song from mario, but it sure as hell is not the theme. dont even try to argue with me about it. look up "mario theme" here on youtube and listen. You will notice that the melody is not played anywhere in the tesla coil vid. The only theme song played in this vid is tetris theme. so sod off.

  • You're entirely wrong, they played a bit a of the Super Mario soundtrack around 1:10 in the video. Know your stuff man.

  • yes they played a song from mario. BUT ITS NOT THE MARIO THEME!!

  • its not any of the ones i remember from the NES

  • It's the underworld theme, from the tunnel levels.

  • well not once did they play the mario theme song... so wtf?

  • it was level 1-2 of super mario. not the theme

  • Awesome!

  • damn! a really nice way to make music

  • YEEEEAAA NT ALL THE WAY........

  • I want the first song! What is it?

  • Holy Chit! That gave me chills when the crowd roared ans

    Super Mario played. lol awesome
