  • man that was the besssssst life show i ever saw in my life, DAMNN!

for fuck sake, why he's gone so early...from his own brother...

    Rest in Paradies

  • Roger was fine moto scooter. R.I.P. to a musical genious.

  • How could anyone say the live performances are better than the tracks themselves??? I grew up listening to Roger and Zapp. They are one of my favorite bands ever! The live performances are the best, but you can't say that the original tracks aren't phenomenal as well. They are BOTH great. It's a shame that there wasn't as much media coverage when Roger died as there was when Barry White, Isaac Hayes, Teddy Pendergrass, Pac, Biggie (I could go on and on) died. RIP ROGER. We love u man.

  • @sherwinfitz wow I didn't even know he died another legend gone

  • i keep hearing aboat roger and his talkbox which is fine but roger was the best guitarst ever heard. had avery uniqe sound. sounded like a blended guitar and organ.this was way back in the day. for an example. they did a show at the lakeview palldium in dayton with parliment and funkadelic.he played maggot brain george clinton was sitting in the audienc.he jumped up screaming i got to have that man he"s bad. i have to say he did the song better. he reily is a gutarist

  • 1:30 to 1:40 on that computer love tune is fucking way out of here! Awesome shit man. Where the helll is this music at anymore? Anyone....anyone?

  • "Where's all the ladies aaaaaattt???..... And who wants to be my ba-by To-Niiiiiight?!" LOL LOVE IT!!!

  • I always hear T-Pain being compared to Roger Troutman.

    What's T-Pain's talent?

  • This is so good...all you can do is shake your head...young musicians need to start living up to this.

  • Roger Sr. was one of the most talented and energetic performers I ever seen. I saw his show in the early 90's and was very pleased. What people don't know is that that talent also was passed down to his son (Roger Jr. also passed away but has some cuts off his albums posted on under Roger Lynch) , and also Rufus Troutman, who has a wonderful gospel cd posted on facebook and also Rufus Troutman.com. I believe we should lift up the gifts that God has given to the remaining family members.

  • we miss you

  • im listening to the solo part at 2:27 and it just took over my body haha

  • i'm gonna be as cold as roger.......watch.

  • @TBsensei don't u mean hot, you can see he sweating in the video

  • HIS SON-Police arrested a man (Brent Lanier Lynch, 11/30/85, 853 Minnehaha) at 85x Minnehaha for kidnapping, criminal sexual conduct and terroristic threats Monday, September 5th about 12:30 a.m. The man had kidnapped his ex-girlfriend at Randolph and Cleveland and repeatedly raped her Sunday, September 4th from midnight to 10 a.m. She was treated at the hospital. P.S...I TAPED THIS SHOW (BY DONNIE SIMPSON)WHEN IT AIRED,THERE WERE 2 ACTS BEFORE HIS SET.HE AND THE BAND PERFORMED ALL THERE HITS...SEE YOU IN HEAVIN BRO!!!!

  • You Hear that BASS?

  • oh man this is awesome.

  • does anyone know what he's saying at 5:22

  • @TheTalkboxKing : Sounds like, "ohh lala, ohh lala" repeated 2x

  • @TheTalkboxKing he said" say yeah yeah yeah"

  • @TheTalkboxKing Dont know but it sounded cool.

  • i dint know his own brother larry killed him and then he commited suicide tragic loved him and the zapp band.

  • i just love the talkbox how the talkbox echoes in this performance, is it just me or was roger better on the moog than on the yamaha dx100

  • I can not get enough of this man's talent. So sad that all of the talented ones are no longer with us. It's such a shame that we have to be tortured by all of these no talented artist of today:(

  • roger made the talkbox an instrument that who ever uses it better bring it!

  • Roger, one of the illest live performers. We miss you mane! Keep the Funk alive yall.

  • I hear this true artist and I get goosebumps.

  • to the 5 people that disliked this your gay!!! lmao

  • @RodneySmallz I'm gay and thought this was one of the best performances I've ever seen. Zapp's first three albums are some of the funkiest things to grace God's green earth. "Brand New Player", "Playing Kinda Ruff", "Come On", "Be Alright"... just amazing music.

I think the people who disliked this video just don't like funk music.

  • @soulfinger87 okay, than i retract my statement...apologies

  • sooooooo dope! this makes me feel so gooooood!

  • Man they where so kool and they will alwayz be kool Rip Zapp and Roger.

  • Is it just me, or is Roger Troutman just beyond sexy?!?!

  • thats roger jr at 2;32 yes he the finest also like his daddy.

  • @victoriaflowers35

Hey I just read that Roger Jr died in 2001 at only 32! Wow thats sad : (

  • o yes he looked so dame goooooood. i hated you had to leave us so soon.I LOVE YOU ROGER.

  • doesn't anyone remember this band? The only song I really know is "Radio People" from 1985 and dude I LOVE that song! I want to hear songs from their 1989 album "Zapp V" (1989 was the year I was born, NOT 1992) but it's not on itunes or Youtube or anything.

  • dude at 2:32 was finneee!!

  • Friggin WOW, Roger and Zapp were the showman with the funkiest group of ever!

  • know thats dale delgroat in the blond hair sanging

  • is that roger jr with the black and blond hair someone let me know please.

  • @victoriaflowers35 i see him on the keyboard

  • i seems to never get tired of this video. lol. those ladies lookin' too sexy bouncin on "more bounce 2 the ounce". Roger Troutmanized!! funk yeah

  • Roger was special. he was riding the music business in the end cause everybody wanted his sound but he put out some stone cold funky dance songs when he first got started. Had passes to his show in town and he got killed. fuck.. the show went on with subs... Slave and that group that did no parking on the dance floor. Knowing how the keys rock the room with Roger I was sad I would never hear that band again.

  • This song has a life of its own!

  • The Coldest Enterainer 2 step On Stage. Mr. Roger Troutman!!!

  • he IS using a talkbox, he doesn't have a tube coming outta his mouth just for fun

  • he usin a vocorder

far more technical than today's autotune.

autotune is old they use it to get people to sing on key when they sing high. that's why in concert they change the key.

  • @spke532 he's not using a vocoder. He's using a talkbox. There's a difference.

  • @lioncamp1 You may need to describe the difference between the Wah-Wah on mike method that Sly originally used on "Sex Machine"...the talk box, vocoder, then much later the autotune. They are all extremely different in era, sound, and approach.

  • what?

  • The Bassist kind-of sounded like he was using Autotune when he sang the word "YOU".

  • And more so on the word "Found".

  • @RaldyV at 2:37 thats not even Roger Troutman...that happens to be Ray Davis, his voice is naturally deep and that happens to be his real voice...

  • I know. My speakers SUCK.

  • @wccrko They don't know this was the singer for Parliament/Funkadelic

  • he is using the voice along with the talkbox

  • 0:09 Roger screwed up the key.

  • KEEP ON COMIN BACK TO THIS VID YEAH!!

  • I saw them in Virginia Beach last year, Roger would be proud. Same energy, Quality Show, gave 210%!!! Hellified. My wife talked about for at least 2 weeks!!

  • all pop-lockers worshipped Rogers songs!!!!

  • TRUTH. God, Roger was so damn talented. The day he died, I went ballistic and none of my friends or gf understood why, it was a lonely feeling to see genius die and have no one around you recognize it.

  • amen.

which one is larry? or whatever the other brothers name is. the guitar player with the blonde streaks? I'd love to know. Someone help.

  • yes its larry.

And hes the one who shot his brother roger and then commited suicide, due to an argument.

  • Comment removed

  • Those Troutman bros were REAL pioneers

  • agreed

  • didn't one kill the other???

  • Crêmeux ayoye si peurfff!

  • You gotta give it to Roger, that dude knows how to work the crowd. It won't a person there who wasn't gettin down son! That dude had so much talent, its a shame more people don't know about him. Man was an innovator!

  • Roger Troutman was, is, and shall forever be "The Man". To this day I have tears for a man who was more than his music - a humanitarian, a gentleman, and one who gave funk the sauce, cherry, and glitter on top of the famed "Dayton Sound"

Rest in peace, for there will never be another.

  • @Kaca40

WOW!!! I AM SPEECHLESS !!! YOU'VE SAID EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED TO SAY.

  • Live human energy musicianship showmanship compositions live on BET when BET was & alive

  • I'm loving these live videos of Roger and Zapp. Thanks for posting them up.

  • the live performances are better than the actual tracks

  • i come back to this vid everyday and play it like 10times...the slower tempo, swagg of the drummer and the funk of the bassline just has me snapping everytime...especially wen they come back in @ 1:31 & 2:19

    GMFMusic

  • just like michael jordan was the best ever to touch a round ball, just like tiger woods is the best ever to touch a golfing club, roger's the best to everr touch a talkboxing tube and synth
