oh yeah, PS...runnin the same ver of ur guitar but the lower-end one, put a super dist. in bridge and an air norton S in the neck, goin to remove middle pickup n fill it with a wood piece(used to prs's,lesleys so i need that space), no point gettin a fancy middle pickup if im just gonna smash the hell out of it. machine-head locking keys and 500k pots. what do ya think? love to get ur opinion if u can. once again keep em notes singin bro! : )

Great and impressive! You're a real guitarist and not a copycat. I think its always a good thing to replay but also put something of your own in a song. Either i think that Gary didn't play it always exactly the same over and over again. He also played what he felt at that moment. In my opinion that makes the difference between real musicians and copiers.

Well, I don't hate it, but I don't like it either. All the whammy bar stuff seems a bit out of place in a ballad. When I first heard GM play The Loner, it quickly became a favourite, but there was one part that always gave me goosebumps. It was just a single note which is played here (sort of) at exactly 3:57. When GM played it, it was the purest, most beautiful single note I'd ever heard. Just a pure tone, no vibrato, but moving and powerful. But you gave it silly wide vibrato. How could you?

@chandlerlewis His vibrato is perfect, whole step & back for the most part. Which is exactly how GM plays and he also used whammy bar in the song. Sure he used an extra whammy dive near the end, who cares. He played it almost 100% the original. He can have his own style. There's a reason why KS teaches at MI and you don't. If you don't like it then so be it. You don't have to diss someone, when you don't know what you are talking about.

It has all of the notes but none of the subtlety, which is a sentiment is echoed by other people here. Try to understand that my relationship with this song and "that note" goes back 24 years. Clearly this song means a whole lot to you, so some of the very key notes (the entire song consists of notes that give it it's flavor, but 3:57 and 4:47 are two that stick out more to me) that shouldn't be covered different than the original.
