  • i respect and appeciate the gift that each Chuck Negron,Cory Wells,Danny Hutton, and the rest of each of the Three Dog Night Band Members gave to Music and still do to People today. Often with us all, it’s simply that life is moving so quickly and making so many demands on us that we barely have time to react

  • @BBQFanNo1 -- On YouTube, useless, vulgar comments are plentiful. Good, decent comments are rare. But well thought-out, meaningful and insightful comments with a positive purpose are true gems. And Bill, the BBQ fan's comments, are clearly from that latter category. I don't know Chuck, nor any other Three Dog Night members, but I've always been a fan. I only hope they might some day stop by and notice the comments such as we have here ... And, of course, yours, too, Bill. Thanks!

  • @tonyny77 O reilly was saying he doesnt believe drug rehabs work and chuck said only a one year rehab worked for him I know people short term rehabs worked for but they joined narcotics annonymous or alcoholics annonymous so that gave them the long term support

  • @spacepatrolman ... Yes, I agree. Your comment has great validity. I don't think they were saying that "Cri-Help's" one year program is the only one that works, but in Chuck's case, I suppose he had some extraordinary challenges. I've never been addicted to illicit drugs, but addicts have my sympathy. Drugs can really capture you and turn your world upside-down. Thanks for a positive, informative comment.

  • @spacepatrolman I know a guy that is a treasurer in narcotics annonymous and he goes on what they call commiments where he visits people in the hospital to talk them into joining

  • i dont judge either person member or side for whatever inner demons there were between them. Most groups and singers had them and we all have too in our lives including myself. Name one human or anyone else who is perfect other than God and i will call you the worst liar of all.

  • He looks damn good for recovering, of course I know he probably did a lot to get where he is now but not alot of people come out of that looking half way decent. Good for him. I read the guitarist's autobiography (from 3 dog night) & it trumped any biography I ever read, talk about wild, it bordered on frightening.

  • O'Reilly and his sh*t. "Rehab doesn't work"... Then Negron said it all, "They treated me like a celebrity." Well, how many regular people are going to be treated like that??? O'Reilly wants to condemn rehab over the "WAR ON DRUGS" by marching a celeb (a has-been, listen to the cd clips, tho' I loved him w/3DN) in front of the camera as an example: "Over 3 DOZEN rehabs..." Bull. BTW, this show was shot around '99 as that's when Negron's cd came out. Simpleton propaganda. Eat it if u wish.

  • @bawanderr Messaged him on both Twitter and My Space. Very polite person. OK you are quick to judge the everybody in one same category because of the "bad apples"

  • If only my poor mother could see what she is doing to me, my brother, and herself. In a car crash in 2000, My mom broke her back. She went to the hospital. They gave her painkillers. She has been addicted to Methadone, Painkillers, And Marijuana ever since. She has no money, the fridge is empty, and everyone she was with Physically abused me.

  • Bill Oreally Factor deserved to be credible.

  • i sent chuck a message on my space a few years back and he actually got back to me-he was very kind.i read his book,i never knew about his life but i have so much respect for him.

  • Dang! Bill O'Reilly actually looks semi-young in this video. Must have been a very long time ago..

  • He is such a great inspiration for anyone who wants to break away from the tyranny of addiction. Now a real role model and he should do more interviews like he did on O'Reilly to promote his success to help other see it is possible to change and get you life back. Kudos to Chuck God Bless him and his family.

  • @comprepservices -- Needless to say, a beautiful comment, indeed. I can approve comments such as yours all day long. Thank you for your comments as well as for your good wishes for Chuck.

  • nothing robs us of music and talent like drugs and booze.....

  • They always put a pot leaf against heroin and cocaine, but you never see a cigarrette or a beer can there. Interesting.

  • Way to go Chuck...your talent will always be a part of so many lives. My prayers are with you. God Bless

  • Saw him & his band recently in Durham, NH they put on a great show!

  • im so glad he got straight he was great in three dog night

  • yeah, Cood workhuck, keep up the good work

  • Wow. He actually seems down to earth. I didn't expect that.

  • @renues — Yes, I was surprised myself, too. I don't know him personally, but after all he's been through, I cannot help being happy for him. Drug addiction has doomed so many and it seems to have nearly taken Chuck from us. So, while some might have no compassion because he ingested, consumed, administered the drugs himself, I think that pays no consideration for how addictive drugs are. So, yes, he does seem quite down to earth and like his other fans, I wish him well. Thanks for commenting.

  • Chuck, You have so much going for You, people like You and Your talent, the Music has always been great, You too Me are what really made Three Dog Night.

Respect and Best Wishes, Handsome, Kind Man. I was very happy to have meet You, and You signed My CD of Your Music .:)

  • hey was gorgeous and he still is!

  • A true story of redemption.

  • 3 dozen as in 36 rehab facilities?

  • @flamebot4475 -- Yes, that's what the man said: 36!

  • @flamebot4475 actually 3 dozen means "I have absolutely no idea; I would spend thousands of dollars to fly back to the US to get a fix; then go back to Europe for the next concert; all in 24 hours..

  • Good luck Chuch!!! Love Three Dog Night!!!

  • I'm working with tons of people who have similar stories to Mr. Negron's. Some famous, some not so famous, and the common denominator is, the need to be recognized. We're all human for sure. I do a bit of public speaking on these matters and Chuck's story has been a great source for me to reach out to others to help them. Thanks for posting this. We all could stand to view this from time to time to stay humble!!

  • @thebeastlacey -- Sir or madam ... Your comment is much appreciated. Wanting to refer to you by your name, I checked your profile, but didn't find one shown. However, noting your occupation and your "About Me" leaves me all the more appreciative. At YouTube, worthwhile intelligent comments are relatively rare. Thank you for contributing and for taking the time to comment. Good luck with your people-investing pursuits, too.

  • @tonyny77 Thanks for the kind words! I'm all about learning from mistakes. Mine as well as others. I'll take something called "wisdom" anyday over knowledge. My biggest blessings have come through serving others. I have a few people with me in my leadership company that have had the pleasure of knowing Mr. Negron which makes it all the more special to share his story. God bless!

  • I'm a big TDN fan. I was really young (10-14 years old) when they were in their prime. I owned ALL of their allbums. As a musician and guitar player, they had as much influence on me as say Jimi did. That was very good band. I'm so glad to hear of Chuck's success story! All the best Chuck!

  • THIRTY-SIX REHAB CENTERS?? sounds like he was addicted to rehabs. He sure looks great anyway!

  • I met him personally at my grandmas funeral because he was a really good friend of hers. He has a ring that says how long he has been sober and he loves to show it to people. i believe he has changed for the better. he did a very nice rendition of nature boy and helped our family though our hard time. Thanks Chuck glad to seee you on your feet

  • Love you Chuck, Saw the band in 1970 at Dex Cards wild goose in Elmhurst, Illinois. Actually it was the YMCA skating rink in the winter. You swung on some metal posts during a few songs and everyone loved the casual atmosphere.. Great performance, Rare Earth was the warm up band. The drummer played a solo with his hands, no sticks, the guitarist was a slightly built guy with long blond hair. Every band I was in wanted to play your songs, Chicago, and the Cryan Shames.

  • Reading his book now after watching Intervention w/his son Chuckie -- it's a great read. Amazing that he lived to tell. I agree with broncolady4ever -- did the man not own a mirror?? :-)

I grew up listening to TDN (born early 60s). Of course I had no idea that he and Danny (Cory not so much, if at all) were probably stoned when I watched them on TV.

  • Wow! I guess he is so lucky to be alive after 25 years of abuse. We're lucky we get to hear him sing again. You go Chuck!

  • the golden voice..im glad to hear of peoplemaking it through rehab..no matter how long it takes...it always makes me sad when i watch a episode of intervention at the end when they say the person didnt make it through....it really makes me really sad.....i made it through...10 yrs now no cocaine!!!

  • For reeeeaaaal? This was great...loved every second of it!

  • Chuck Negron is apart of the mile high club?????? He truly is a GOD!!!!!

  • Looks like Chuck has had some work done maybe?

  • I can't get over how young (and goodlooking) Bill O'Reilly is in this clip! Not to diss Chuck who was always a pretty boy. Thanks for posting broncolady...you (and TDN) ROCK!!

  • Great singer, check out "Til The World Ends" with Chuck singing lead with Three Dog Night.

  • He looks so good & healthy!! Please, anyone who is a fan of TDN...read the book, which I just finished, before you make any opinions in your mind. To say he made his life miserable would be an understatment!! I am SO glad he's well again & still entertaining!! GO CHUCK!!!

  • @calligal55 ... I feel compelled to reply for several reasons. (1) I haven't read the book yet, but it's on my Amazon wish list. EVERYone who's read it seems to have really liked it, so I suppose I'll be getting a copy, too. (2) I've always liked Three Dog Night and seeing comments from others who like the group is enjoyable. (3) Nice, intelligently-written comments on YouTube (such as yours) can be hard to find. So whenever I see decent comments, I'm compelled to say "Thanks very much!!!"

  • @tonyny77 I have been fortunate enough to communicate with Chuck occasionally on his Facebook page, and he is a kind, caring man who will go out of his way to help strangers facing addiction, or, in my case, depression and loneliness. God has truly kept this wonderful man around for a reason, for which I am very grateful! Believe me, he truly realizes how blessed he is, and his fans are all the better for it!

  • @broncolady4ever ... Thanks for yet another good comment. I'm sorry I didn't approve it sooner, but I've noticed YouTube is having issues with consistently notifying users that comments are pending approval.

  • @tonyny77 You are welcome! I, too, appreciate "decent" comments! And check out ebay & half.com for the book! It seems to be going for quite a high price these days! And post anything about Chuck that you have! I love seeing him "well"!! In fact, he's the reason I still like guys with long hair & mustaches!! ;-D

  • @calligal55 can u tell me..was he the one who sang" Shambala'..I'm just discovering these guys...what happened to the rest of the group? The other two? thx

  • @scallly64 -- See their Web site. Danny Hutton, Cory Wells, Mike Allsup, and Jimmy Greenspoon are four of the original members. Chuck had legal issues with the group long ago. Now that he's recovered, I wonder whether he's on friendly terms with the group again. Floyd Sneed, their original drummer, is into other things, and Joe Schermie, their original bass player, passed away a few years ago. Their album I like best that helped sustain me while in Vietnam is "Captured Live at the Forum."

  • @tonyny77 Thank You! I will check the website

  • @tonyny77

Chuck and Floyd keep in touch. Chuck has Floyd play with him on some dates. I saw them perform together this summer and got to take a picture with the both of them... and then lost the frggin' camera not long afterwards. I'm still pissed about it.

  • @tonyny77 Yes! The "Forum" album! I used to listen to that night after night when I was about 16. The sheer energy and power they conveyed was unbelievable.

  • @piscesman54 - Yes, you are so right! I guess "Captured Live at the Forum" requires a special, different kind of description. As someone who hates noise and doesn't like loud just for the sake of being loud, I have to say that Live at the Forum fills the audio spectrum with distinct, fairly clear music, with none of the elements drowning out the other. Everyone got a chance to do their part with great emphasis, but all the "flavors" were still clear and distinct. A wonderful work, indeed. Thanks

  • @tonyny77 Indeed, Tony, good assessment. I've always been very eclectical when it comes to music. And some stuff I used to listen to when I was teenager I grew out of and discarded later on in life cause I realized it had a negative influence on me. Others I kept and have cherished since then. TDN was one of'm. I'm a musician myself (though not a professional one), and in the bands I had in my youth we used to do some of their stuff. I loved it.

  • @scallly64 It was Cory....check out the live version (YouTube) on Soundstage in 1975!! Excellent!! Apparently Cory & Danny are still touring as TDN & Chuck is performing solo. I say whatever works to keep them ALL healthy!! And buy the CD "Complete Hit Singles" by TDN.....it's great!!!

  • @scallly64

No, Cory Wells sang the lead on Shambala.

  • @scallly64

No, Chuck didn't sing lead on "Shambala", that was Cory Wells. But his wonderful high harmony certainly added a great deal to the song, as did Dannys lower part. BSP

  • I'm really put off on this, I liked 3 Dog Night, but this guy had the benefit of all these programs, he weazled out during multiple rehab programs and now he is dissing them? I am not impressed, many people did benefit from these same programs

  • @sunaJH He's NOT dissing them; he's simply saying that they didn't work for HIM, because they gave him preferential treatment! It wasn't until he entered Cri-Help, where he did NOT get treated like a celebrity, that he was able to finally kick his drug habit! Please read his book (I just finished it yesterday) and I think you will better understand his situation!

  • @broncolady4ever ... Excellent, excellent comment, Bronco Lady. I haven't read the book yet, but your sentiments reflect mine precisely. I did not agree with the comment you replied to, but since it was decent (not vile or vulger), I approved it. With all my videos, I only allow comments I've approved. I don't mind intelligent dialogue and I don't even mind if people disagree with me, but if stupid vulgarities is all someone has to say, such comments are deleted. Thank you for commenting!

  • @tonyny77 I think this is a very good approach. No doubt some would qualify it as censorship. But sometimes when you read some of the things people post, you figure: "that's something I could have done without". When people can't argue a point and have to resort to insults, that's where I think they need to be curbed. Thomas Jefferson said: "Dissension is the greatest from of patriotism." I think that applies to pretty much everything. The key is respect for the person. Cheers.

  • It amazes me to hear that part of the reason he started using drugs was that it made him feel HANDSOME! All I could think was: "Did he not own a MIRROR?!" IMO, he was GORGEOUS when he was with TDN, and he's not bad NOW, especially considering that he's now 68----which makes me feel sooooo old! I was a HUGE TDN fan (and had a huge crush on Chuck!), and I thank God that Chuck has conquered his demons, and that he has been so blessed to maintain his beautiful voice and his beautiful soul!

  • @broncolady4ever ... A most beautiful comment. Thanks for taking the time to post your very decent words. If everyone posting on YouTube wrote comments as intelligent as yours, it would be an infinitely better Web site. Thank you again!

  • @tonyny77 Thank you very much for your kind words! What I wrote came from my heart. I just hope that Chuck's history, and his story, will help others who are experiencing the hell he went through for so long! God bless him---and you!

  • @broncolady4ever -broncolady are you from Denver? I grew up there. The first 2 concerts I ever went to were HUGE rock legends. Creedence Clearwater Revival. My big sister took me :) Not long after that went to see Three Dog Night with a friend. Had to be 1972. Great memories. Congratulations to Chuck. And Go Broncos!!!

  • Yes, this clip was about 10 yrs ago. He has been on there since then, a few years ago. Also, the book has been revised. That is the one I read. I understand it is being reprinted.

  • The book is not only awesome. It helped save my life.....And I mean that. Thank you Chuck.

  • I've never heard Chuck Negron's music, nor have I read his autobiography. But I have heard some of Three Dog Night's music. I'll have to check out both his music and his book. I'm glad he's finally clean and sober.

  • Car Nut ... Thanks for your decent comments. In their day, Three Dog Night enjoyed having many top-10 and #1 hits. Today's young generation might not care much for their style, but back in the '60s and '70s, Three Dog Night was often at the top. Search YouTube and other online sources and you'll easily find an abundance of their work. I hope you'll check out their music. Thanks again for your good comments. Enjoy! By the way, your cars looks great.

  • @Seattlecarnut I couldn't put his book Three Dog nightmare down, what a life!!

  • @bruces3 -- That's interesting. Even though I posted this video regarding Chuck, it never occurred to me that his book might be any good. Now, though, I'm quite curious; I suppose I'll be checking it out.

Oddly, I enjoy seeing this video over and over again. I was a big Three Dog Night fan back when they were always "on the charts." Knowing how hurtful drugs are, I'm happy when someone can finally get off the stuff. His gentle, confident smile just seems to say, "I'm at peace with myself."

  • @tonyny77 I had a hell of a time trying to get the book at the library here in Vegas. I really didn't want to pay Amazon prices, now I don't want to return it.

  • @bruces3 ... Gosh, well if that's not a strong endorsement, then I don't know what is. Now I'll DEFINITELY have to get it. Thanks again for contributing. Like the rest of Chuck's fans, I'm sure you're glad to know he's been feeling much, much better. Every time I come back to approve a comment, I wind up watching the video all over again. As I mentioned in another comment, Chuck's gentle smile indicates he's content and at peace with himself, and that's really good to know. We all wish him well!

  • @bruces3 I agree, it took my local library a couple of months to locate the book for me through a "library lending" program. It was well worth the time though. Chuck doesn't make excuses or sugarcoat things...he tells the scary, ugly truth about him and his life at that time. I am so proud to say, that Chuck and I personally communicate frequently and not only is he clean and sober, he gives back by helping others struggling with addiction. He is a kind and gentle soul. Great voice too!

  • What O'Reilly says is Chuck's latest cd, The Long Road Back, came out in 1999. The book came out in '99 too so the clip is probably then or 2000.

  • @behdoc... Super info. That's great to know. Once again, thank you very much.

  • He has a great personality!

  • @behdoc ... Yes, he does seem awfully nice, but back when he was an abuser, I suppose it may have been a different story. As he explained, he was young and he didn't know how to react and deal with his stellar popularity. But I'm very happy he's better, now, so we can all enjoy his fine talents again. Thanks for your comment.

  • Chuck rocks!!!!!

  • Too bad it freezes up. I'd really like to hear what he was gonna say. I like that he agrees with what I've always believed - He might have gotten clean a lot sooner if he'd gotten into an old fashioned, lock down program instead of a liberal half-assed california program for rich people

  • @3DogsLive ... Please try to view the video again. I think it may have been your network connection. The video does not lock-up nor hesitate at all for me.
