Bidini il più grande pianista del mondo ascoltarlo dal vivo è davvero una sensazione unica e meravigliosa,ti entra dentro come un caterpillar...un suono straordinario che solo i GRANDI hanno...e lui è un GRANDE
Simply genius...One of the most difficult pieces ever written for the piano. We can hear the propellers of the steam (vapour) boat at the Nile River at the very begining and at 02:58. At the end we can feel the happiness of Saint-saens retuning to France after one of his several trips...Amazing!
@sergiolcb This isn't nearly as difficult as it sounds, actually. I've only been at it a couple days and can fumble through it, which is a relief because I expected it to be much worse.
This is such a well composed concerto! Really... How does a composer just compose something like this? Do they just sit back one day and say "You know what? Today, I am going to compose a masterpiece." This is an incredible piece!
It comes naturally from the heart, and not of the mind. It's a VERY rare talent these days, but composers tend to do it naturally with God-given talent. This is a great concerto.
@FranzofL Yes, this is master piece and it is one of my all-time favourites. Remember Saint Saens was a genius. Franz Liszt called him "the greatest pianist in the world." Bindi is awesome and I heard Cicolini play it.
Very good, this Bidini. The say that Saint-Saens was a prodigy, although his mother lorded over him for decades. Berlioz said The only thing Saint-Saens lacks is inexperience. I'd love to hear Bidini's San Francisco/Tilson-Thomas rendition of Rach 1 Concerto.
Truly phenomenal. Wonderfully inspiring! He even pushes in his piano bench and the conductor is so very happy to have conducted with Bidini as his pianist. Just incredible! Saint-Saens ain't bad either.
this is a terrific performance of the Saint Saens 'Egyptian' concerto...i can never understand why this work is not played more often it is such a joy to hear this performance...i hope this performance is committed to disc at some point it really is brilliant!!!
Saint-Saens was a prolfic composer and an influencial critic and teacher, however, his compositions do not quite make it to the level of "Great". This one just doesn't match the depth of Tchaikovsky B flat minor or the Schumann a minor. It is lots of fun, entertaining and well worth playing.
So for those reasons Saint-Saens has been held up to a certain amount of ridicule and snide comments from the more snobbish in the classical music world. This i struly unfortunate. We **need** fun and entertaining music like this.
If you listened carefully, you heard phrases and gestures that have become cliché in Hollywood film scores and even Warner Bros. Cartoons. Obviously film composers thought they had something valuable to learn from Saint-Saens.
Do you really think this one doesn't match the depth of Tchaikovsky's first? Or is it that you think most people feel that way?
I find the "allegretto tranquillo quasi andantino" section in the second movement, lightly orchestrated as it is, to be one of the best moments in Saint-Saëns whole output. This is perhaps what I find most appealing of this work, those clear textures prevailing throughout first and second movements.
fabulous

This needs to be played more, along with the fourth concerto. They are both masterpieces! This is a stunning performance!

Boy, talk about Wagnerian. And the conductor really goes off the rails towards the end.
Incredible technique, though.
