Tweety bird was actually a very good comparison. Federer lulls you to sleep with a monotonous rally, and then hits you with an unsuspecting angled monster forehand (wooden mallet). You don't see it coming.
''with federer it's like the tweety bird offense'' what the fuck. sack that commentator for comparing federer to tweety bird. federer should only be compared to god himself.
@jareid2507 Not bad. It's Mary Carillo, and God bless her, I consider her the least intelligent and aware out of the ESPN Tennis reporters. On the other hand, it was a viable analogy, so that the idiotic Americans that don't understand tennis, can understand just how good this guy is. I'm sure she could be very technical, but it would make for incredibly dry commentary
@senacoo ahh when i say topspin backhand slice i actually mean a topspin backhand, disguised as a slice. roger can do this so perfectly that many of his backhands are his winners as well as his forehands. we hav all heard of one handed topspin and backspins. many people come up to the net when a ball is hit to roger's backhand. his options are, down line or sharp cross court. a disguised slice crosscourt isnt used much because of its slow speed, but with rogers, that technique is his winner.
I love watching him play because his shots are so varied. One moment it's just a sliced forehand, very soft, returnable shot, and then when the opponent is a bit "off balanced" he goes in for the kill and hits a winner, a ball that has so much power behind it, it is impossible to return.
dear mother of God.,..I was completely crazy about the one at 3:26! s is just me or was he more aggressive in 2004-2005? Not that I don't like the recent him, the more complex, the better.
My absolute favourite kind of forehand, thanks so much
@XizelSF At a certain point, I know they started making the courts slower and the balls as well. I was so shocked that towards the end of Wimbledon the courts got so used and muddy that the game was very similar with tennis on clay. I guess some adaptation was needed seeing that organizers had god bored of the aggressive, serve-and-volley game during the 70's--> 90's and they started looking for something else.
Ok, RFed is the real deal. I've personally seen both Agassi and Sampras play matches, really up close (as in within 20-25 feet from court). Nobody beats those guys unless you have WICKED tennis game.
the reason why federer hardly pumps his fist or stuff is because he's achieved everything amazing so when he hits a great shot to us, for him, its nothing
@23remoh I agree and it's a real pity. Is this a sign of some tiresome feet maybe? I must admit rafa also has magnificent angles with this forehand. But fed is still my favourite of all time
I like how Roger places the ball in the service box. Now that great contact. I'm a deliverer of mad spin but I gotta work on this one. That angle is the Shit fo sho
@aarondw05 he takes the ball on rise means highest point of bounce enabling him to place on the service box line for mad angles. Its a difficult skill but nadal exploit it by hitting a higher bounce than others, thus federer will hit shorter than usual, means shorter and higher bounce on nadal's side giving him chance to attack federer.
I love the return @ 3:00 vs blake (how many times does it happen that the return is faster than the serve? ;) )
but in my eyes the greatest shot of all is vs nadal @ 3:20. I mean wtf, how do you do this in the corner, sliding it that much out? there was NO possibility to bring it back...wow
@fbinsulation he has a great bakchand but when he is on a confortable position to hit the ball, if he gots to run to hit a backhand he would never do it. thats why he is loosing now
@FeFabregas r u fkin serious? federer's backhand look like slices, but he invented the topspin backhand slice. UNBELIEABLE! he takes so many guys out with a topspin that looks like a backspin! so stfu and go back into your box, get ur facts rite
the fastest balls you can hit like federer's penetration balls is to put the ball under close-to no spin as possible. topspin slows the ball down on air , but on bounce faster, backspin puts ressure ont he underside of the ball, lifting it up making it so higher and slowing down, no spin with high strength and flexibility to the wrists will make the ball go SUPER FAST.

Danhh98 10 months ago
@Danhh98 inside-out forehand. it's when smb hits a forehand with a very open angle, >90degrees. normally in that position, one would be expected to hit a cross forehand or rather a backhand. the right hand goes even more to the right during the shot, not over to the other side of the body
