Really good video Terry. Without question in this day and age it pays to question everything and do some fact checking. The absolute truth might not always be out there but hopefully at least slightly less tainted water is, LOL.
@3CoolKats Right. The one thing to know, and no doubt you already do, is that there is no such thing, nor has there ever been, such a thing as unbiased journalism. Of course, our fathers where somewhat more honest about it in that then named their papers (Richmond Whig, Asheville Democrat, etc.) according to their party affiliation, so one could purchase the fish wrapper that slanted things to one's preference.
It was a passing remark in the video which seems to have become a major sub theme or some such. Anyway, I think I ought to do a recovery video since it seems to be of interest.
In our local papers we now have a comment section after each article, much like here on YT. It's become somewhat amusing to see a story reported allegedly accurately, and then read the comments that follow. That's when the real story begins. It never fails that either the subject of the story, a family member or friend begin to fill in the gaps or even corrects the journalist who penned the story. Suddenly nothing is as it seemed.
I love those comment sections. I have a login on several newspaper websites just so I can rock the boat.
"The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors. He who reads nothing will still learn the great facts, and the details are all false." Thomas Jefferson
Terry, the sad thing is that when it comes to news there really isn't any credible sources anymore. Everything needs to be taken with a grain of salt. Great to see you vlog again. Missed ya. Seeing you vlog tells me that YouTube isn't dead yet. It may be on life support but it isn't dead.
My opinion: We ain't dead yet DB. We seem to have been kinda forced into the underground of the site, and there are certainly fewer of us, (thanks mainly to things like Facebook and Twitter) but a smaller lighter posting community lives.
and you and I know why too. Politicians are poor doctors and they loath having to give the bitter medication that is needed. Instead, they try making everyone happy by passing out the lolly pops which makes everyone feel good for a while, but in the end we end up with a belly ache and rotten teeth.
Were you talking about "Fred" in the beginning my Hookah Bear? :-)
Seriously though, you are so right Terry. You can't really take anything at face value on the internet or dare I say even on the news in this day and age. We must be silent detectives in this time of ugliness and deceit. For, there is honesty and goodness still alive... hugs, Chris
Hi Terry, the ugliness, in all of the forms you've mentioned, will certainly continue as more and more folks reach their economic breaking points. It wouldn't take too severe a jolt to send most of us into the economic abyss. That's scary. With that fear comes the search for a focal point on which to affix blame.
The search for credible source? Tough one. I think that the best we can do is take in information from multiple disparate sources, while questioning the validity of everything. Ray
"Breaking point," "tipping point," or "trip wire," or whatever we choose to call is likely to come for many. God Forbid! I have strongly advised, all who would listen, to liquidate as much debt as they can, convert as much of their holdings as they can into precious metals, and make reasonable preparation for shortages. I would not at all be shocked to see gold hit 5K per troy before this is over & for us to see hyperinflation on the order of that seen in Germany after WWI.
Hey there, a familiar face. Good to see a new upload over here.
Sounds like this web site (won't ask, don't worry) is run by people who decided it was worth it to sacrifice credibility in their pursuit of an agenda.
Economic recovery... yeah, that would be a nice idea some day.
To my mind there is but one agenda this land needs to hear right now, and that is one that deals with bringing this country back to a state of financial health and at peace with others. A very blessed Thanksgiving my friend!
It seems that most everyone has an agenda, be it good or bad. Credible sources are getting harder and harder to find. Too bad that hogwash is so easy to find, most people load up on it and then quit listening.
At this point, you are completely right. Just look at the last Election we had...misinformation flying everywhere.
And the media is the worst of it...they're biased now against conservatives, so naturally put forth those candidates in the worst possible light (Independent here...just have noticed this a lot).
So a lot of misinformation now comes from places we should be able to trust to give us, as they say in court, "The Truth, the Whole Truth, and Nothing but the Truth."
Somethings we can write off to bad judgement, and some error can be attributed to out right stupidity, but one would think that even with stupid leaders they would occasionally foul up in our favour! Since this never seems to happen one might dare ask, "Does someone actually find the result of these government polices to be a good thing?"
Smear campaigns suck! You have an eloquent way of saying to think for ourselves... The danger is that It's increasingly difficult to determine whether or not we are being misled...
There's a kid on YT that I supported because he was a friend of a friend, and he was so down that he said that there was no hope in his life and he might as well leave YT-- he called me a "friend for life" , etc, and was really kind to me. But when he found out that I was already longtime friends with people he thinks of as "haters", he started demanding that I take videos down, then he blocked me and called me a "traitor"
It really is amazing, some of the stuff you see these days. I've even seen banner ads out there that look like they're serving no other purpose than targeting someone, probably as a way to generate ad revenue from those who agree with it.

Well said. I find that a variety or sources instead of a couple gives me a bigger picture of things.

Ah! That reminds me of a quote from George Orwell:
"During times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act. "

Friendships on YouTube are interesting in that they can sometimes become extremely intense in a very short time and
just as quickly fade away into nothing... The worst is when it happens and you never find out the reason why.
