OMG I have never seen Natalie this bad! I have always been a die hard Natalie Cole fan ever since I was a lil girl, I mean I truly idolized her. But during that time I was so young I really didn't understand or even know what she was going through. This is the absolute worst performance I have ever seen of Nat. She doesn't even sound much like herself! Sometimes u have to look back at hard times to appreciate how far u come! I thank God Natalie overcame! Still love you Natalie!

I remember my 1976 High School graduation party at Disneyland where I saw Natalie Cole in concert there Wow! was she terriffic! what a voice with incredible range she sang "this will be" to a packed out show. I have never forgotten her. Thank you so much for the post.

Sorry about that! I'm a fan of Marilyn McCoo, I didn't know Natalie's career well enough to know that this was a low point. As many have commented, Natalie overcame and went on to an even finer career... Regardless, I kinda liked the duet and thought they sounded all right together...!

@mccoofan It takes a big person to admit they were wrong. I commend you for that. Also, Natalie may have been singing "down" to Marilyns level a bit. I am a HUGE fan of Ms McCoo. She has been and remains one of the classiest pure singers of all time. But there is a limit to her range and style.

I am an original Natalie Cole fan (since 1976). I was a fan during her success, the drugs, rehab, the bad albums, Unforgettable, everything. And I'm still rooting for her. I pray for her full recovery from her recent health problems.

Thank you for posting this video, even though it shows Natalie at her worst. The truth is that drugs (and hard living) damaged her voice. She was very lucky that vocal surgery was a success. Her voice (w. training) is even stronger than it was in the 70's.

Here's the truth Natalie was a mess. I know somesomeone who worked on this show. She was lucky to have Marilyn out there to hold her hand. I love Natalie, But god she was a mess. All the stories are true. She even worked a gig with my aunt. I was very young but I remember my aunt telling my mom how Natalie was such a drug addict. She was over an hour late for this show in the 70's. Natalie is very talented, and lucky to be the daughter of

Love both these ladies unfortunately this is the period in Natalie's life & career were at "rock bottom" She had just had sugery on her vocal chords and the substance abuse didn't help. You know there's a problem when Marilyn is over powering her on her own songs.

Of course that would never happen now that God has restored her! She even looks younger now than then.

He loves his children. btw, I think that natalie could have been a much bigger star had her life not went the way that it did. her record sales and career suffered really bad, and took her out the game for a few years. the most important thing though is that she came back and is healthy.

Great vintage footage, although they are out of key on some of those notes. Listen to the orignal recordings or Natalie circa 1978 and see what I mean. This is the period when Natalie Cole was really going through that substance abuse issue(1982/early 83), I remember it well. I can hear it in her singing, she is barely singing and in and out of key. She phoned in this performance, but that was then. She is once again a great singer and wonderful talent..great Marilyn too.

Yeah, you can hear some of the intonation problems on the last song "This Will Be". I wasn't sure if it was the harmonies that Marilyn's singing, or Natalie, or what... still, a great duet. And Marilyn does great with "I Got Love on My Mind".
