Thank you so much for posting this video. I miss Jeremy Brett so much.....as my wife and I feel that he was the TRUE Sherlock Holmes. We loved his acting so much that we named our 23yo son Jeremy after this wonderful artist.

The song is on an EMI CD. Composer is Howard Goodall with verse attributed to Elizabeth Frye. Soloist is Christopher Maltman with Choir from Christchurch College Oxford. Story goes that Frye was inspired at the moment and wrote the lyrics on a brown paper bag. This version by Goodall is the best of all others I've heard.

What an impression his death still makes on the public! Only few reach those levels of popularity and being loved.

He's isn't whith us anymore, but his soul is holding alive by all those people who adore him. And where ever he may be now, I hope that he might hear how much he's missed.

This is a rare example where the words are infinitely better than the music in my opinion. The music that stinks of false sentimentality cheapens the beautiful message of the poem.

I must say i don't agree with you, i was already a lover of the poem but when i heard this song i felt it gave the words new life, and made the messege they gave that much more clear and beautiful.

That is so beautful. Clearly made with love and affection for on of the greatest actors to ever tread the boardwalks of the 20th century. The song is just perfect as well and is so true. Jeremy is not really gone as long as we remember him. I for one will always remember him. I lit a candle for him last weekend and that candle burns on in my heart and soul. WB x
