I bought this at a hardware store on clearance with no box or instructions. Figuring out how to play the game was difficult, but worth it. Very fun game although mine suffered from a light that would go out unless you squeezed the display. Still have it stored somewhere.
I still have mine and it still works. I do not have the box however. This game was about $20, which was pretty expensive in 1979. It is like battleship, but it had shields, scanning and a magna which would transport you to somewhere else on the board. When your "force units" became depleted, you lost. The sounds effects are totally cool.
HA! Cool! I've been searching for some info on this for awhile. I was wondering if it was rare. I have this in near mint condition, still in it's original box and with instructions. I have the white boxed version though. The parentals gave to me as a Christmas gift when I was a kid. Never could figure out the darn thing but loved the sounds.
Why do people keep comparing this game to Battleship??? It is sooooo much more. Simple is presentation but long on gameplay IMHO. The secret is recognizing the grid has to modes. A high level "galaxy?" mode but when you go into battle stations you are "zooming in" to the solar system within that grid point. Understandably getting 1-3 more people that actually get it was a bit of a task. my brother never did and I used to destroy him in this game. I need one!
it looks like it works well when your shit faced stoned and drunk off your ass, what does it really do other than make some wierd ass noises? on the other hand it's nice to have something thats pretty valuable right now.
It actually isn't that confusing. You either move or fire each turn. You can only fire in a battle. You hit the EM (Evasive Maneuver) witch puts you at a random sector instead of fighting. When you get in a battle it expends the sector your in until you finish. The game is actually very addicting. I dug the game out of a storage room and can't stop playing.
I would really like to get a copy of the instructions if you're up for it?
I remember playing this back in 1980 and spent a few days trying to figure it out without the manual. It's definitely one of my favorite electronic games of the period.

Dude, if you don't remember how, or know how to play it,
put it on Ebay so others can rekindle their memories of how
much time they wasted playing it! I used to score 52 (Max Points)
playing this bad boy.

@Squirrelsecret At one point during the game I had 62 points... never got higher than that.
