..They had actually planned to make an Andre Vs Undertaker match in 1991 but by 1991 Andre could barely stand anymore let alone wrestle. Taker would have won the match for sure though as Vince would have wanted his new big monster to dethrone his old one.
There's one thing I wish WWE had done in 1990 or 1991, after WrestleMania 6, they should've had it where Andre and Hogan patched up the kayfabe differences they had since 1987. Imagine Andre coming out to the Brother Love show to aid Hogan when Earthquake attacked him that one time.
there have been very few men with Acromegaly or Gigantism who have lived to old age . I am not sure if any lived to be 65 except maybe Martin Van Buren Bates , who was actually quite a bit larger than Andre .If youve not heard of him look it up he led a fascinating life
If i'm not mistaken Andre was supposed to be an participant in the 1991 30 Man Royal Rumble match i think he was replaced due to a injury he suffered touring or vacationing in the orient if andre was alive today he would be 65 years old plus at the time of his death in january of 1993 his weight was between 530.lbs or 540.lbs....
people like to argue that Andre was 'only'7'1 and not 7'4 as he was billed . There were taller men for sure but what people dont understand about Andre was the breadth of his body,the width of his limbs and hands . Vince Mcmahon Sr , who saw ALOT of physically impressive dudes thru his life said he just was not prepared for the size /strengthof Andre when they met .' I never saw such a man ! " he said . . Ken Patera once said that if Andre had become a powerlifter , records would have fallen .
@MasterKanaar - The Magnificent (Don) Muraco was also referred to as "The Rock" back in the day, but it is The Rockers who Gene is definitely referring to.
@POWEvents well actually for him it was a long time because the doctors told him that he was going to die way younger than when he actually died ! so thats why
Its a shame, he was so sick, but he wanted to get back into the ring. Young wrestling fans don't understand the popularity of Andre, they look at his remaining years and don't understand that he had been ill for a long time.
@1980Triumph Yeah. Even back in 1987 when he was up against Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania 3, he was in rough shape, probably even BEFORE 1987, his health wasn't good.....
ive never seen this video, wow what a shame andre looked terrible, i guess this was about 2 years before his death, and i think he had swelled up to about 550 pounds, he looks like hes havin trouble breathing and just standing there ... damn shame... rip big man

In 1991, Andre's health really started to deteriorate. Here he still close to 7 feet, and his weight in '91 was around 530 pounds.

AndrewsOpinion15 1 year ago
@AndrewsOpinion15 Andre The Giant vs.The Miz would've made for a good match or probably even a squash.
howardtheman 1 year ago
@howardtheman
The Miz paid his dues in WWE so Andre would have given him an awesome match cos Andre respected people who paid there dues on wrestling.
