@Harry00Long This is the final scene of the last episode in the series Twin Peaks. Agent Cooper´s search for Annie and Windom Earl in the black lodge. The Movie Twin Peaks shows the last days of Laura Palmer before her death.
Does anyone know if that was Michael J. Anderson that just played a part in the Seinfeld super bowl commercial as the munchkin? I thought that was both awesome and surreal.
Dale Cooper : "Suddenly it was 25 years later. I was old sitting in a red room." (in episode 3, when he narrates the dream in which he has saw... Laura Palmer)
@Eargazzm it's David Lynch's universe, quite hard to understand, but not so much. Of course, you have to see Twin Peaks chapters to understand this last one of them. Believe me, this director is a genious.
I always interperted the reference to "25 years " to Laura , whom we know is dead predicting Agent Coopers death .we are all in the "waiting room" who still live.
"I'll see you again in 25 years".. that line has always stuck with me. Perhaps it's an indication that time stands still in the Black Lodge... I always got the feeling of loneliness when Laura says that...... hopefully Lynch will revisit this in 2014
@malathis0 And that may have been the very LAST time anything at all even remotely artistic appeared on network television. The race to the bottom ought to give the world Waiter Wars or Super Hoarder Nanny's Home Makeover within another year or two.
@MrMovieoreo2 it symbolizes duality, just like the floor. if you notice, one statue looks proud and regal, unashamed by her nudity ( in the hallway). but the other one, in the room, is covering herself and looks quite ashamed. could also be reference to the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. the whole white/black lodge and waiting room in general sticks very close to some interpretations of Jewish mysticism ( kabbalah). so does major briggs dream told to bobby in the diner...
I think there was an episode of Buffy that had red curtains just like the Black Lodge, but I don't know if it was an intentional Twin Peaks reference or not.
This episode first aired when I was around 5 or 6 years old and I watched it with my older brothers. It was, at that time, the worst thing to have ever happened to me. Now I find this scene fascinating and I'm glad that I was exposed to this level of art at a young age. It was scarring, but in a good way!
this still scares the crap out of me. Every now and than my husband asks me to watch twin peaks with him, and I'm still not able to watch longer than the little bird appear at the beginning
Yup, goes to show that this show was SO much worse than anything else on tv at the time, same with Moholland drive yup, david lynch is the worst director ever... I wanna know what happens to Coop! T_T Also, the guy below me is retarded. Stop opening night clubs and making solo albums david lynch! MAKE ANOTHER MOVIE AND DAMN THE TELEVISION STUDIO THAT TURNED LYNCH DOWN FOR ANOTHER SEASON!
Great scene, redeems the second season almost on its own. It was supposed to be even longer though, and in addition to the "waiting room" there was supposed to be a "throne room", the throne being a dentist's chair, which Windom Earle wanted to sit on to control the lodge's power.
At least according to a seemingly authentic shooting draft of the screenplay I found on some Twin Peaks site.
I think he says "Wow, BOB , wow!" because the coffee has revealed that Dale will become host to BOB. The MFAP does not like BOB but he admires that he was able to get to Dale Cooper who seemed so strong and was so well respected.
Hmmm. I just noticed, that it appears early in the scene when Senor Droolcup is giving Coop the coffee, and when the giant is walking back towards the chair, that they are giving an effort to keep both of their feet either on a black pattern or a white pattern. Black lodge, white lodge. Another subtle hint?
Ok, someone please take this into consideration. When coop first entered the Lodge it was the white and the black lodge at the same time. Because his motivation was both love and fear. In "the waiting room" he sees the good double of the dwarf, as well as the giant and that nice old man. The Dwarf says, "Next time you see me it will not be me". And indeed later it isn't him; because by that time Cooper already has entered the Black Lodge. What do you say? Think! Both Lodges look the same.
@davko79 doesn't make any sense to me.... Why is it creepy and scary? I just can't understand... It's just something where you can only shake your head about....
