  • the bass had to shed its G string in the face of all that funk

  • 1:30 who needs a time signature?

  • Breaks a string and keeps jamming away? That's not human man.

  • 3:00 cant believe it

  • I know I saw this when they had Bet on Jazz but is this set on a DVD or even video somewhere. (I'll convert it.)

  • @englishbobful lol, Steve swallow. We don't accept haters here. If you don't like him, that's fine. But don't be a d0uche.

  • The best bassist in the world, and the ONLY bass player to win bass player of the year 3 times

  • :( How can someone be so damn good! The broken string became a minor inconvenience.

Smile it away and keep on plucking. Amazing!

  • Well Vic I'm keeping the baby sooooo...

  • at 1:04, he takes a tiny step down from godly to "really fricking good"

  • Flea who? Holy crap! Three minutes in and he loses a string. There truly is only one Victor

  • Lol he cut off a string at 3:00.

  • Bass masturbation....

    haha

  • @Chambrette Bassturbation

  • idk how it happened but theres cum everywhere

  • Whew, He just manhandles that bass,

  • this is one of the most incredible things iv ever seen. but at about 7:30 it just gets silly.

  • @06wraightm at 7:30 is when they're still having fun. IDK why people with little to no credibility tell these guys what to do.

  • @buefyYT dude, im not telling these guys what to do. my opinion is that it just gets a bit over the top.

  • @06wraightm they're having fun. they don't need to prove to us that they're good musicians man! we know that :p. like it or not, they're entertainers, that PROBABLY really entertained the crowd, job done!

  • broken string victor wooten don't give a shit look at him eat that bass nasty little bastard he don't even care

  • he broke a string. DA FUCK

  • Every time i watch this video i get sad and pissed. . . victor wooten makes me feel bad about my bass playing. i he also made me blow a load in my pants.

  • Wooten sucks!! He's only masturbating his mapple neck! No rythm, no harmony, nothing but someone who wants to be seen!!!

  • @englishbobful what an authority on bass playing you are. Please transcribe this solo, little one

  • @jazzpsalti Don't tell me anything about music! You play alone, and I'm a very solicited bass player! I saw Wooten soloing during a gig with Chick Corea and that was boring! Chick didn't play because Selfish Demonstrative Wooten didn't respect the tempo, the chords changes and the rythm like Patitucci, Pastorius,Steve Swallow,McBride etc... would do. I'd never play with that kind of guys, I'm a musician not a showman...

  • @englishbobful My ARTISTIC career is solo guitar. I'm an industry musician as well. The bass players you mentioned are also great, but it sounds like your attitude got locked up in Berklee somewhere. Anyway, do you have the ear to transcribe this, brah?

  • @jazzpsalti Why do you keep asking him to transcribe this? I suppose with enough time spent I could transcribe this, but I would never want to! Not because it isn't amazing, but it would take for ever to do, and I don't think I would benefit from doing it.

  • @englishbobful You sure you want to say Wooten has no rhythm? It does not help your argument..

  • @englishbobful You sure you want to say Wooten has no rhythm? It does not help your argument.. You don't think Jaco's harmonics, and "out" playing was just as masturbatory as this? This is a bass solo after all, his supportive playing with the group is very good as well.

  • his shirt matches his bass playing

  • im pretty sure he just raped his bass...

  • Токен, ТЫ УМЕЕШЬ ИГРАТЬ НА БАС-ГИТАРЕ! ............твою мать........

  • with THREE strings...

  • Oh n nobody notices the tapestry that the brotha is creating?

  • Saw Victor Wooten with his brothers and Stanley Clark with a bunch of music prodigies the same night a few months ago. Victor was amazing, but Stanley was better.

  • What is he holding at 0:16?

  • @destructor5652 That is the drumset. The guy holding it invented an electronic drum set that is played with the fingers. He calls it the synthax Drumitar. Since then a company called zendrum has mass produced the concept.

  • hero.

  • @ jdubb ,, I can't believe you just put jaco in a league with flea and less claypool .. And to top it off you included him in not having this kind of technique ?? You should sit down with victor someday and ask him about jaco's technique ,,, intact ask the entire professional jazz bass community about jaco ,, they'll take you to school !!

  • For some reason my ass is really sore from watching this..

  • Badass! :)

  • Did I just get jazzed on by Victor Wooten? Anybody got a towel?

  • Wooten is Great No DOUBT!! But in that bass solo I hear many sour notes being played.

  • @99hmike It's called Jazz.

  • I just jizzed in my pants.

  • wooten is an absurdly fantastic player but i would never ever listen to this for fun

  • im going to start playing bass again

  • and this is why i play bass :3 it made me jizz more than my girlfriend does geezus <3 love this till i can no more

  • Who the hell breaks bass strings?!!?!?!!?!?!

  • Jeez, he sure did a good job holding in that anger over the string breaking for that long. I think the bass learnt its lesson in the end though.

Corporal punishment - it may be be illegal on your kids but there's no such law against instrumental cruelty.

  • HE BROKE A STRING!!! Almost 4 minutes of no top string!

  • I witnessed Mr.Wooten's sinister minister this past thursday at the toronto jazz fest. He was about 10 ft away from us, threw the guitar at the crowd, spun it around himself and all. Legendary moment.

  • omg that scale at around 2 :15 lmdo hes a machine!!!!!'

  • WOW man! The string was no match for his talent, jst too much 4 it, wish i had the string though...

  • just thinking of how i played his bass... after all it has been through... especially this... is a wierd feeling :p

  • WOW, I never thought I'd see such a performance when one of the strings breaks..... truly amazing and I've never seen such long and complicated solo.

  • how does this not have at LEAST a milli views? Victor just did all that with THREE FRIGGIN STRINGS!!!!!

  • Victor owns some of the best shirts ever made.

  • omg lol!

  • 15 people can suck a big one...

  • les claypool, flea, jaco, don't have this kind of technique!!!!!!!!!!!

  • even with a broken string!!!

  • Everyone in the Flecktones band except for Vic is way underrated.

  • I must have been living under a rock. Now that I've seen Mr. Wooten play bass, my first thought is - I used to think Stanley Clarke was good.

  • Is he an inbred lol

  • what is that weird box thing the guy is playing at 1:08 minutes

  • @BeNnYHeNdRiX101

it's called a 'drumtar'...the guy playing it, Futureman, created it himself. look up futureman videos and you can find a video of him telling you all about it ha. shit is sweet

  • he is better on 3 strings than most are with 4 and even 5 or 6

  • this video is sped up, be it you or youtube.

  • wasnt I dressed 8 MIN ago??

"ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Conway Twitty"

*bitch slaps bass like no other, and throws it over his shoulder*

Victor: "excuse me! . . . i believe you mean Mr. Victor Wotten"

  • only victor could break a string and still be a badass

  • THIS GUY IS THE TRUE GROOVE MASTER! THIS IS SO GROOVY. SLAP DA BASS LIKE GUH.... DA BICHES!!! GUH GUH DA BITCHES! SLAPPIN FUNKY BASS LINES IN YOUR FACE.. GUH! LIKE GUH! MY GREATEST INFLUENCE I CANT EVEN PLAY THIS.. I CANT EVEN PLAY THIS GOOD AT METALLICA.... LIKE GUH! DA BITCHES!

    aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaauuuuuuuuuuuiiiiiiiiiiiiiiauuueueueueueueaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • haha at 8.21, victors just like "thats right bitches, im victor wooten!"

  • He slaped the bass.....

  • whosBetter?

  • @lorettasson jaco, larry graham, flea, les claypool, justin chancellor...theyre not faster but theyre better

  • @44eelz When I read Flea, I felt sad for the other great bassists in the list.

  • @Kendawsum why?

  • @44eelz Flea doesn't have the right feel to it. All I hear on Flea is sheer technique with speed.

  • @44eelz Also, where's Bootsy?

  • At 0:16, wtf is that

  • @drtranismyman a synth-axe drumitar. Futureman made it himself.

  • I don't think, but hope those people at the concert understood what they were beeing witnesses of... clearly the best bassist of this era... man! i wish the person who got the string was at least a musician. ;)

  • Clearly the best bassist alive today!!!

  • If I could choose between Victor's talent or $50 million, I'd choose his talent.

  • @sznj94 but, you know, this is not just talent, this is also long years of hard practice. Lots of people with great talent are born, but only fractional part lead it to perfection like Victor. That is why we call him genius now...

  • He slapped it like a bitch

  • I bet he could murder anyone at bass on one string!

  • Pffff! I could play that with 3 strings...

  • shh quiet, hes playing

  • He really knows how to play those 3 strings. ;)

  • ummmm broken string and hes still fucking goldike

  • was that an electric bango

  • There's no string that could last long with the power of Mr. Wooten... :-)

  • from 3:47 he is going crazy

  • Come to my basement. I will jerk off on the bass for you all night. I just picture the line for beer growing and growing right now.

  • If any metal bassplayer had snaped a string during a solo, he would showed of- "yeagh check me out". Vic just continious putting glorious pops and sweet tones in our ears.

  • @Mortycakes lies, who do you think you are saying that?

  • snaps a string and still carries on! wat a player

  • Victor is crazy... yeah!!!

  • Something you never here. "Oh yeah, Victor Wooten. He sounds just like..."

  • @omarkaya42 jimi hendrix of the bass god ultimatum

  • @omarkaya42 cept when he was copping a couple of stanley's licks :)

  • @omarkaya42 just like... Victor Wooten.

  • Hi, I'm Victor. And this is my brother. He's a pirate.

  • wow i was sooo fucking impressed when he broke a string and he kept on playing like he didnt needed it soooo amazing im loving this guy his verrrry talented

  • ah Vic -- he could do it with ONE string. I first heard the Flecktones live in Albq. NM about 1994 Being a banjo player myself, I of course went to hear Bela, but I came home raving about Victor. At one point in the show, he came out an there was a bass mounted on a stand, he walks up to it and starts playing it like Adam Fulara (if you don't know who he is look him up, its worth it) He starts noodling around and eventually ends up playing "Flight of the Bumble Bee" virtuoso tapping style!

  • im a bass player and i really admire his playing

  • whats up with the whoopi goldberg wizard hybrid with the duck taped glockenspiel?

  • @JonnoThomas FUTUREMAN and the synthaxe drumitar

  • 2:31 proper jazz face!

  • i love his face throughout the whole solo xD

  • Whats that weird instrument that is held like a guitar (clearly i don't mean the Bass or the Banjo)?

  • @tomorocko It's called a drumitar

  • here in this vid i started to accept the banjo as an instrument :D

  • wow

  • ahahahah...fantastico!!!

  • How about that. Usually when a string breaks it makes the player look bad... but in this case it only made him look better.

  • What a rage at the end.

  • he BROKE a bass string holy shit

    after what 3 minites? badass

  • lol

  • I have never seen a bass string break in my entire life. Wooten is a badass.

  • @TheReighnart u should have seen flea in the 80's broke a string like in every concert

  • @hworang92 Victor Wooten > Flea times 893618245719847

  • @iSnipe37 nöuu

  • @hworang92 I don't speak foreign.

  • @iSnipe37 yeah that wasnt me..

  • @TheReighnart my A and D string broke recently....admitidly the bass was recently bought second hand and the strings were about 4 years old

  • that guy pressing one button playing the whatever the fuck has a free ride lol

  • the worst part was 8:43

  • 0:32 I think he made that instrument himself

  • @TBKSKA he did its called the Drumitar

    its pretty cool

  • epic heavy metal banjo

  • did his string break? OMG! Victor wooten is the bass master

  • AWESOME

at 2:57 he even breaks his string

  • I love all the Wootens stuffs, but i have notice that he always do the same thing in his solos, i think he is just technique. I am a bass player and i have grown with bass players like Staley Clarke and John Patitucci, and i think no one has the heart of John when it comes to bass (just my opinion)

  • @TheTomasito1971 i disagree. i listen too album versions and they sound nothing like when hes live. when hes live he does so many different things its crazy. he even does arpeggios. but you cant say he repeats a lot of his stuff. there's thing in these youtube vids ive never heard him play anywhere else

  • self indulgent tripe

  • The bassist in the fucking world, just amazing!!!!!!!

  • he did good

  • Hang in there, Vic... you'll get the hang of it!!!

  • The man popped a string and kept playing like it was nothing!

  • @telka3013 It's still two too many:)

  • @telka3013 he's lost in the funk

  • So are Victor and Futureman brothers?

  • @thatdrummer2010: Yes!

  • @thatdrummer2010 He and Roy are brothers. He is the youngest of 5, you gotta check out the oldest, Reggie, on guitar!

  • You know the dude that caught that G string has that shit in a frame right now. Legendary!

  • Amazing!

  • holy crap! awesome!

  • hehe he broke one of his strings and still playing?^^ @ 2:57

  • Victor Wooten is a BEAST on the bass!

  • Dam that black guy can jam like a boss!
