My intentions are not to critisize, but I don't really understand what ur trying to proove here? That a dissolved salt is still soluble once dehydrated? If it is, then this is just chemistry basics. Salts properties don't change because u put it in water. Except for certain specific salts. Any salts would do the same. Just try it with NaCl, KCl, CuSO4, KClO3 etc, etc. Anyhow, experimenting is always good, keep the good work! As long as u don't blow ur self with monemade nitro, Lol...
@nickalisse1 criticize away, Ive never taken even a basic chemistry class. I hear of things or ideas pop into my head and I go off and look into it. I figured this was something I would try as it sounded harmless.
@YllwFvrPB Ok! I see. Well it's a good thing, cause as you probably already know, many discoveries were found this way. By trying and experimenting things. If only more people would try to do the same with many other things so they develop their mind and thinking. I can only encourage to continue, as I said : Keep the good work!
for every one molecule of alum their are 12 water molecules attached to it due waters polarity. What you started with was a crystal and by evaporating the water the Alum turned from a crystal to a powder. by adding water it re hydrates the alum.
@YllwFvrPB it is dry but inside the crystal structure of the alum there are water molecules trapped , so when you heat it you turn it in an anhydrous state wich has different properties

but does it taste as good? Will it blend?

@gettingahandle ive always found myself oddly attracted to the taste of alum, and it was delicious!

That McCormick stuff is Ammonium Aluminum Sulfate.

heating takes the water molecules off the mixture.
dunno what you could do with the end product.

It sounds like you know a bit of the science involed. Care to explain? I thought it was already dry, so what water is coming off?
Does the end product have a different make up? Is it still alum or does it have a different nature once it returns to a powdered form?
