Trust me, doing all this speeds up the pc for sure, the startup & the shutdown. This are the basics procedures to get a faster os, i´m not even talking about
unload dll's & other stuff like the manipulate the hardware to get a better performance.
Try it with a tweaked XP SP3 it should run like hell :D

looool 1 minute to shut down way too slow im on a macbook pro 2011 it shuts down for 3 seconds and turns on for 30

Without tweaking, my hp mini with windows xp shuts down at 19 seconds.

Well, windows 7 looks promising because it runs well in average computers.
I didn't make a deep "exploration" on 7, but doing the same as i do in other windows versions like defrag the HDD & the registry, clean up tmp files,
cache,restore points,disable hibernation,turn off unnecessary start programs and services,disable the Aero theme & put it as original windows theme.
