The 2010 Shelby gt500 is a great machine and congrats to FORD for following up with more performance in 2011 and 2012 for the gt500. Whoever says S197 mustangs don't handle have no clue what's happening in various racing classes etc....
All Mustangs are the same they have heaps of power but can't handle very well, it's not until Ford Racing came along and gave it the Super Snake package which is a race package which improves handling with better suspension, brakes and it's aluminium engine which is both lighter and more powerful. So really the only Mustang thats any good is the GT500 Super Snake normal Mustangs look great but handle crap, if your going to buy a Mustang get the Super Snake if your willing to spend about 90k.
this GT500 is a real disappointment. its awkward numbers (550 hp giving 0-60 in only 4.1) are because its traction SUCKS!! the new Boss 302 is better in every day. cheaper, better handling, faster around a racetrack, and in my opinion better looking. the Laguna Seca edition wuld eat a GT500 and spit out the battery and it costs about the same

@sanatatic - I've heard of it. I've had nothing but good luck with them. Even after more engine power and stress plus abuse the transmission is strong. That goes for both BMW and Porsche who use them. Almost 90% of Corvette Z06 owners and other LS motors that add power to their car use a Porsche gearbox that is flipped upside-down than a housing adapter. This is cause the stock transmission is shit weak, and the Porsche can handle LOTS of power no issue.
this car is not the king of pony hill. it hasnt proven to be significantly any better performance wise over the camaro. who ever solves the excessive tire spin issue first will. rumor has it the ZL1 will have features to combat this. i love seeing american companies pushing each other to be better and better.

My 2010 shelby with a tune, 2.59 stock looking pulley, 90mm idler and better airfilter is laying down 566rwhp/564ft lb
To set the record straight, for 2010 in Canada and similarly in the US, the MRSP for a 2010 Shelby, no NAV, with HID was 59K. There were FORD dealers in Toronto Ontario clearing them mid summer of 2010 for 46K, I know I bought one. To invest 5 - 10 in mods depending on the objectives to obtain a track worthy 650 RWHP beat that can stick with machines that cost 100K is a smart buy, solid axle or IRS, case closed. The 2010 Shelby is a hot looking performance bargain.

The mustang is clearly better than the camaro in absolutely every category. The z06 carbon weighs 600lbs less and the 0 to 60 is the same but the carbon does run the 1/4 in 11.7 @ 123.6... HOWEVER the top of the line GT350 has 625 bhp for less money that the Z06C, the stang still seats four and WILL run the 0-60 quicker and prob the 1/4 aswell.

the sad thing for chevrolet, this car puts down more power than a corvette zr1(rated at 638), just watch "shelby conquers dyno" by insidelinevideo, then watch corvette zr1 vs. nissan gtr by insideline, youll see that the zr1 puts down 505hp, and the shelby 511 hp

@IPGAuto The 2010 M5 is rated at an insignificant .1 quicker in the quarter and a 0-60 in 4.8 not 4.1, you are wrong, in fact the gt500 is quicker 0-60. The M5 is over double the price. The only change necessary for the 2010 gt 500 to slaughter the M5 is a set of decent tires. Put on a TVS and the GT500 would destroy the M5 in the quarter by well over a full second, the GT500 easily pulling 11.4 sec. quarters with a TVS and 17lbs of boost, under half of the $ M5. 2011 GT500 kills the M5.

@sanatatic - I've heard of it. I've had nothing but good luck with them. Even after more engine power and stress plus abuse the transmission is strong. That goes for both BMW and Porsche who use them. Almost 90% of Corvette Z06 owners and other LS motors that add power to their car use a Porsche gearbox that is flipped upside-down than a housing adapter. This is cause the stock transmission is shit weak, and the Porsche can handle LOTS of power no issue.

Advantages, there are some very significant ones, compare the engines. The camaro is heavy, has a cheap interior and is uncomfortable for anyone over 6ft. to drive. In fact, the GT500 outhandles the camaro and for 2011 the mustand has continued to outdo both GM and Chrysler compables, give us a break pal.

Don't get me wrong, love the new 5.0's but the 5.4 still has an edge and remember its set up from the factory for its blower, with better tires and few inexpensive suspension tweaks its well worth the greater potential power and prestige. My 2010 shelby with a tune, 2.59 stock looking pulley, 90mm idler and better airfilter is laying down 566rwhp/564ft lb

To set the record straight, for 2010 in Canada and similarly in the US, the MRSP for a 2010 Shelby, no NAV, with HID was 59K. There were FORD dealers in Toronto Ontario clearing them mid summer of 2010 for 46K, I know I bought one. To invest 5 - 10 in mods depending on the objectives to obtain a track worthy 650 RWHP beat that can stick with machines that cost 100K is a smart buy, solid axle or IRS, case closed. The 2010 Shelby is a hot looking performance bargain.

The mustang is clearly better than the camaro in absolutely every category. The camaro is heavier, has an inferior power to weight ratio and anyone over 6ft. will be planting their head into the roof. The Shelby is so far ahead its above comparison to the camaro. Not saying the camaro isn't a good looking car but it just doesn't perform as well, case closed. I've owned and driven good cars with IRS, Ford had done excellent with the solid rear axle, better at the strip and handles very well.

The z06 carbon weighs 600lbs less and the 0 to 60 is the same but the carbon does run the 1/4 in 11.7 @ 123.6... HOWEVER the top of the line GT350 has 625 bhp for less money that the Z06C, the stang still seats four and WILL run the 0-60 quicker and prob the 1/4 aswell.

The standard Z06 still runs about 80 grand doesent it? Ford makes fast cars that are logical. the mustang is a 4 seater however since its been stomping the other pony cars it now gets compared to $90,000+ 2 seaters? Ford has made the live rear axle work and it keeps cost down.

Well if it's a 1968 454 corvette with an upgrade cam, it's for performance. I hope you drive it like a performance car. This wasn't a "who's faster" request for a video. I genuinely like the older vettes and wanted to see and hear yours.

@MegaMusclecarman a pony can never compete with a thoroughbred in a race - in the same way a car like a mustang can never compare to say a ferrari ... therefore they are called pony cars - there may be a bit more to the origin of the term but that's the obvious answer

@electricshockproof it's a fun car but not a show car and it could never compare with some of the radical cars guys are building now - check out s/s motors website - they have a super nice vette the same year as mine and 10 times faster - my vette is special because it was a gift not for performance or looks
