hi doctor! i'm using topical niacinamide 4% to treat acne and improve my skin tone will this help?? and for fine lines and wrinkles can it get better under that point?
I'm sorry I probably sound stupid... so applying antioxidant and then applying a physical sunscreen afterwards wouldn't help the antioxidant act as a antioxidant instead of a sunscreen?
@NataschaO It will in fact be 'harmful' when used during the day ONLY if you do not follow it w/a sunscreen! Sun protection is absolutely critical if you're choosing to apply a C serum in the AM. Hope that helps :-)
I have a three-part question: a) can uv-light cause ascorbate free radicals that actually damage your skin or do they just become ineffective due to the light b) i used l-ascorbic acid 1tsp/0.8dl of water and it caused my skin to turn brownish , is it because of free radicals, above you mentioned pergamot, but these crystals should be just l-ascorbic-acid) c) what would you suggest to be ideal concentration on l-asc.acid and water? Thank you so much if you have time to answer
Hi, i was wondering if i can use retin A underneath my antioxidant? Also, can i use vitamin E as my antioxidant? what would you recommend for antioxidants?
Is it okay for teenagers to use antioxidant moisturizers? b/c i know that some of those products actually contain a little bit of anti-aging properties to them
Hi, doctor, I have a very important question n that might be of interest to many viewers here. So please care to reply
You mentioned that lemon juice is one of the most photo sensitizing substance.
My question is --- Can I put lemon juice on face at night and wash it off in the morning to prevent exposing it to sunlight and still get the benefit of its anti oxidant properties at night ? And how can I get it properly off my face ?
what kind of fool watching this informatiive video...from an intelligent and experienced and renowned physician (who has helped 100's of thousands of people with skin issues) give this video a thumbs down?
thank u dr for ur vids. i have a question ...... i have been applying retin A for yearson and off ) i dont pel anymore..why? also please tell me if its ok i apply it under my eyes. i do
I use Skinceuticals CE Ferulic and was told to use it before applying my sunscreen to help boost the sunscreen. Are you saying to apply it at night instead? Before my A cream and night cream?
Am sorry, but what do u mean by topical anti-oxidant? Does a night moisturizer or 'revitalizing night cream' with AHA work? It has lemon and citron in it.
On top of that, some anti-oxidant(Vitamin C) renders repair of worn skin cell, now that sleep related to generation of new cells.Apply anti-oxidant before sleep(=night) thus very effective in cell repairing!
So after a couple trips to my first gym I went in the steam room with my friends because they said it helps acne. IT WORKED LIKE A CHARM! Although it is not all gone I think it may be helpful to some people if you talked about it, and maybe about saunas?
hi, i use a homemade toner of cider vinegar, green tea and lemon juice, would that be enough of my anti oxidant quota or should it be in a cream form? Love your videos, you are so concise and you have a great voice for Vlogging :-)
how can I incorparate a vitamin C serum in my skin care if I'm using Differin (Adapalene) at nights?? what do you think about SkinCeuticals, products that contain L-ascorbic Acid?? can you recommed a couple products?
Hello Dr Shultz, your videos are amazing, thank you for all of your information! What type or brand of antioxidants do you recommend? I am using a 10% glycolic acid with licorice root every other night and Aminogenesis Cocoon (moisturizing emollient) in the morning after cleansing with Aminogenesis really really clean. Also, is it damaging to skin to treat back acne with BP? Thank you very much again, take care!
Thanks doctor, i really enjoyed most of your vedios. I have a question about VitaminC is that can lemon or orange juice be used on skin as skin lightening or could it be an antioxidant
@SAROOONA77 Lemon and lime juice contain a derivative of oil of pergamot, one of the most photo-sensitizing chemicals known to man. Accordingly, application of either of these to your skin and then exposing your skin to any type of sunlight causes very dark stains. Regarding orange juice, neither the form of Vitamin C nor its concentration in orange juice can act as a topical antioxidant or bleach. But it tastes good!
You are great and you present the info so clearly. I was wondering what you think of oxygen creams or oxygen delivery systems in skincare that claim to bring ingredients, such as antioxidants, deeper into the skin. Are such products beneficial at all or would the oxygen render the antioxidants ineffective?
@tsondusangmo: Thank you for your kind words. As you guessed, I don't believe oxygen creams or oxygen delivery systems are effective and am happy to review any critical research that indicates they are.
As I was reading the comments, I noticed that I should have mentioned that applying antioxidants during the day isn't a waste. It will just result in the antioxidant acting like another sunscreen instead of acting like an antioxidant as described in this episode. (Note: I don't suggest you replace your sunscreen with antioxidants and just using a sunscreen is enough.)
The cream I use contains olive leaf extract as its main antioxidant. I chose it because it is said to be one of the most potent sources of antioxidants, more so than green tea. Is there anything more recommendable? what antioxidants should I look out for in creams? Thanks!
@tatianathaller Thank you for the holiday wishes! I also hope that you and the rest of the community have a very nice holiday and a happy new year as well!
