she didn`t care anything but the music when on stage totally into the song for the moment i`ve always loved her from the first time i heard her and i`m 61 god love her!
What talent!! Only 14 but I have such an appreciation for music and Janis was just full of talent she was the queen of soul!! And we will all miss her!!
Janis was and is true! real.. raw and wild! pure soul, she had a magnificent beauty which felt even today through her music. I think that one certain adjective describes her the most: TRANSCENDENT, beacuse everything about her was and is transcendent.
Aww, what a sweetie she was. Beautiful, pure energy about her. :( You really feel it in the interview that precedes this performance. She was a doll; totally innocent soul.
One of my favorite songs on the "Pearl" album (though it's hard to pick in a bowl full of rubies). I love the back up vocals on the studio version but just hearing Janis' solo vocal on this one is just OUTTA SIGHT. It would have sounded just great without all the extra studio production from Paul Rothchild (not dissing Paul in any way, shape or form, great producer).
It was actually watching this performance that compelled me to write a song about her unfortunately my voice isn't quite up to Janis's standard ! But if anyone's interested check out my page. Its imaginatively titled "Janis Joplin"
The thing that strikes me the most about Janis is her ability to just let it all hang out and let it all go. When she is giving a performance like this she is totally in her own head, telling us a story. She get's so into the song it's like totally mindblowing lol.
@PsychLion yeh, and I personally think that's why she consumed so much... i think she kind of ... was left with nothing, empty, every time she finished a song... and that emptiness had to be "filled" again, you know... There will be no other... no one can sing like that, trully leaving it all out...
My goodness, this was such a sincere performer. this performance was just dripping soul and feeling. back when artistes put themselves into their art. your art was like your baby; it was truly part of you. watch this too intently and you are gonna fall so deeply in love with Ms Joplin. Such a beautiful and rare soul. people like this are becoming fewer and further apart.
@blitzgreg1 Probably the best concert I've ever seen was at the Fillmore East - Janis did two shows we caught both and the second show started around midnight and she sang past 4:00 AM! After the umphteenth oncore, she just said "I ain't got nothin' left" and we kept cheering for 30 minutes. Gawd it was about 43 years ago and I remember like it was last weekend.
Still hard to believe she's been gone for over 40 years! Loved her music so much and will forever! Llive forever Janis! in rock and roll heaven. One of the truely greatest artists ever.
What an utterly inspiring, beautiful soul. You will live forever, Janis; in our hearts and headphones. <3 Love you.

Like this band is awesome like when I passed through Kansas City with BLGF Maggs, but she totally looks sick from too much drugs.
