wow what a very clear sound, my favourate singer, Jim Reeves thats takes me back to the swinging 60s when I was a very young man living in Allestree Derby with the whole familey.
Any way thanks for such a fantastic clear sound. keep it up.
This is Engelbert Humperdinck!!!!! I've listened to him sing this song many times, and listened to this recording 1000s of times. Ray Price recorded Please Release me. I can't find anything definite about Jim Reeves ever recording it. This was recorded when Engelbert first began, and actually was the springboard to his 45 year (and ongoing) career. Am 100%, absolutely no doubt, positive that this is Engelbert Humperdinck!!!!
Well, actually it IS Jim Reeves. My parents are his big fans since the very beginnings of his career, and they say it is his voice and originally his song. Humperdinck is just a poor copycat.
@stress021 Please listen to the songs by Jim Reeves that your parents have. Jim Reeves never recorded it. If you can find it, then please post it for the rest of us. He was a great singer, but I'm a major Engelbert fan, and would know his voice anywhere. Ray Price, Eddy Arnold, Elvis and Engelbert all recorded it, and maybe some others, but Engelbert's version is the best known, and this is Engelbert's original recording.
Engelbert Huperdinck - I know Jims songs by heart over 40 years - and can almost sing everyone in same note . and i also loved Engelbert Humperdinck so there! LOL :)
Hello Jim's fans, This is one song that was never included in Jim's reprotoire. If indeed you find it all of Nashville would like to know. Englebert Humperdink, was a great singer, but reaching Jim's heights was just not in the cards. Bye for now......................jack
