It really surprises me... that the "Never say never or forever" which is the mantra of politics in ANY realm, is not said about Israel. McCain,Obama,Clinton,Hillary they stress that USA will FOREVER support Israel. and I want to ask them, what if the find out that Israel is developing nuclear weapons, what if they find out what is known to the world, that Israel has instituted an apartheid genocidal state. Will their alliance with Israel with continue even then? The answer is YES.

Look what happened to Ron Paul, Mike Gravel, and Dennis Kucinich. The only 3 politicians to be excluded from a national televised debate during the 2008 debates.
The thing with lobbyist groups is, the only lobbies which really have influence are the ones which go along with US interests. It's US militarism which is driving US support for Israel, not AIPAC. AIPAC mostly works in silencing any debate on the topic.
Again, you have to look at institutions. It's easy to just blame a lobby for the US foreign policy fuckups as opposed to digging deeper. There are many powerful lobbies out there, some even more powerful than AIPAC, yet the executive branch in this country will do whatever. You really think people like Bush and Cheney gave into AIPAC lobbyists? US politicians serve US interests, not Israeli ones. And it doesn't matter if Israel causes harm to the US, the US will still support it.

It does get your point across and makes one wonder if "peace in the middle east" is really what the American government is about... or if they are simply securing a powerful alliance with one of the strongest nations when it comes to weapons development (Israel). I'm torn because I know this war has been going on for what seems like an eternity, and both sides have gotten their hands dirty. It will be interesting to see what changes (if anything) with the new administration...
