@kewlsuit1 Well, maybe, it's the development of the story. The original three generations probably didn't appeal to adults, because they barely felt like they could relate to the characters.

But in Friendship is Magic, this problem is solved and the story is deeper and more realistic. The characters' strengths and weaknesses are effectively balanced thus making them easier to relate to.
