  • E bravo Klaus, fantastico !

  • YES!!!

  • klausnomicoldgenius.blogspot.com

  • what song he is singing?

  • @albertonomi

"Mon coeur s'ouvre a ta voix" da Samson et Dalila - Camille Saint-Saëns

  • @miox1973 Thank u so much :)

  • English translation: My heart opens to your voice Like the flowers open To the kisses of the dawn! But, oh my beloved, To better dry my tears, Let your voice speak again! Tell me that you are returning To Delilah forever! Repeat to my tenderness The promises of old times, Those promises that I loved! Ah! respond to my tenderness! Fill me with ecstasy!
Verse-moi, verse-moi l'ivresse!
  • I can hardly imagine something more beautiful, this is beauty in its purity. I only wish I could hear him and see him with my own eyes and ears.

  • What year was this?

  • <3

    Nomi For ever!

  • Mentioned he had a bad cold, was this when he had HIV/AIDS ?

  • When we get to Heaven, we will be greeted by the Lord and the Angels, whose songs have been made more glorious, because they will have been taught by NOMI, who showed them the world of imagination, whimsy, and pain, that they could only dream of, having never suffered or been on Earth.

  • God. I've been thinking of you all day, Klaus. I'm about to sleep and I wanted to hear this because your voice was echoing all day. I wanted to hear you lull me to sleep with that gorgeous voice. <3

  • his voice is unique!Klaus Nomi will always be a living legend!he visited us for some years then he went on his star....

  • @ducessaristocat living legend... oh.. eh... this is a bit awkward.

  • Dear God... please giv us Nomi back, you can have Justun Bieber instead.

  • I believe this is "Mon cœur s'ouvre à ta voix". (I didn't see that noted elsewhere.)

  • Ah, he's so lovely! ahh... klaus!

  • What Beauitful music

  • <3

  • Incredibly beautiful human being who is dearly missed.

  • I absolutely NOMI...What an extraordinary soul. He has visited me. :-)

  • Lady Gaga show kneel and kiss Klaus' ass.

  • How can somebody dislike this? What's to dislike? Honestly?

    YOU DON'T NOMI

  • klaus' shy smile after his performance is the cutest thing I have ever seen in my life.

  • @dariaE more like the scariest.

  • i love him ever

  • what an otherworldly beautiful voice he had. *sigh* R.I.P. Klaus, taken away far too soon...

  • LIGHT YEARS ahead of his time,in insurmountable ways..Sadly, MANY "artists' today, should take a lesson.

  • oh god, he is precious!

  • Boca del lobo KlAUS MY LOVE

  • His voice is so beautiful, makes me want to weep.

  • this guy was brilliant and humble. Love Klaus Nomi...such a short and tragic life.

  • I just made 3 trays of lime tarts last week and had totally forgotten about this video

  • Five people hate pastries and don't like special treats.

  • I watch new york noise and it never compares. brought up in the wrong generation. i want entire box sets of every tv party show. i'd sell my soul to get them.

  • i bet they weren't expecting that lol such an awsome voice, he made opera cool, why was he taken from us??? long live klaus nomi

  • As if his singing wasn't amazing enough, he is almost more powerful when he is silently expressing emotion.

  • I love his smile, he makes me smile every time i watch this video ^_^ I'm actually about to do a drawing of him smiling :D

  • Amazing Talent! R.I.P

  • just proves that sometimes talent is god given.

  • To RobNLynchburgVA: You're not going to believe this. Years ago, Klaus's primary producer Kristian Hoffmann relocated to Los Angeles and for the past few years, has been working on music with Prince Poppycock!

  • The great Klaus ! brilliant mind and very sensitive man

  • Hello, I'm french and I adore Klaus. He's so touching, so adorable in this video... Could someone write what they are all saying after the singing, because I don't understand a single word, please? Thank you. And thanks to Klaus for this magic moment.

  • Wonderfull

    Wunderschön, diese Stimme..

  • I feel so cheated at 46 this is the first time I've ever been exposed to this incredibly interesting talented man. I think he must have been the inspiration for "America's Got Talent's" "Prince Poppycock."

  • Look at that FACE! I swear, he's up there with Garbo in my eyes!

  • So, so beautiful. The performance was otherworldly; I can't hear Klaus singing this without bawling. This aired when I was three days old. So glad I shared the earth with Klaus ever so briefly. He left us too soon, but what a memorable legacy! xoxo

  • the bad guy from lost?

  • so sad this talented guy die at the threshold of his glory. :/

  • I've just discovered Klaus and I think he is wonderful. What a beautiful talent this man had.He was totally unique, did his own thing and people loved him for it. He seems so sweet here too.

  • awww, he is so amazing!

  • sounds like ..really old ..20s tune .great..

  • Esse cara é perfeito.. grande cantor, grande ator...

  • I love klaus nomi, he's so beautiful!

  • Angel or devil...I don't care...he looks like an awful nice, creepy faun....R.I.P.

  • He was a pastry chef? Well now we know why he had such a sweet smile :)

I'm happy that even in those days people appreciated such kind of talent. His voice is captivating ...

  • He has the cutest smile. I love this guy sooo much.

  • All these years the man has been gone and till now I never saw him smile. Sweet to see that irrepressible smile of shy pleasure. Primitive but moving record of this unique ethereal person.

  • I want lemon tarts

  • love you Klaus!! que hermoso que es!! :)

  • My GOD the way he just went into character! ... and then sang, for lack of a better term, so brilliantly with the voice of a thousand angels. Perhaps it is the rest of us who are the strange ones.

  • his time is still to come....

  • I went to Berlin in the 80's and headed straight for a big record store to look for new Klaus Nomi, it turns out that he had worked at that store, in the Classical section. On my return to the states I passed through New York, and went to Fiorucci's shopping, and found out that he worked there, also! I felt like I was on his trail, but his life was cut short before i had the chance to pay tribute to him in person. I'm so glad that people are still discovering him, he was such a unique talent.

  • You can see that when the music starts that he is really into the music and becomes a part of it, truly a genius performer and singer. R.I.P.

  • he looks like Michael Emerson

  • Such a beautiful voice. He always had that shy yet sweet smile on his face...absolutely love it! Thanks a lot for posting this wonderful clip <3

  • @Gothiquez yes, 'shy' and 'sweet' he is from another planet, not this one.

  • @videovixen71 he is too perfect to be from this one is what I mean. he is like an angelic being.. I'm sure other true fans will agree here..

  • What's the name of the Aria that Klaus is singing? And what Opera is it from?

  • It is the aria "Mon coeur s'ouvre a ta voix" from the Opera "Samson and Delilah" from Camille Saint-Saëns. He is singing Delilah' s part.

  • was für eine Stimme.Als Frau muss

man sich sich ganz schön anstrengen

    um die zu übertreffen:-)

  • i love this song :P

  • Thanks!!! impresionante, sin palabras.

  • I love it. Such a beautiful man. His smile makes me melt. =)

  • The best thing I've seen in my whole life. I want to die with this song played in the background...

  • Cool performance...but what terrible camera work!

  • Had recently seen Klaus Nomi on a doco, bout the 1st 20mins, figured he'd be on the Tube, ......... So gutted to find out he passed away.

  • Had that man only lived, what a man he would have become?

    He would have aged wonderfully!

  • This was at the HARRAH club, and CORIGAN worked there way back when!

  • Klaus was an alien whose parents called him home.

  • 1. Klaus is adorable, as always :P

    2. that announcer at the beginning both looks and sounds like Billy Corgan I SWEAR HE DOES.

  • His smile is adorable :-) <3

  • Dose any one here recognize the announcer was Billy Corigan, from the Smashing Pumpkins!

  • No, he just looks a lot like Billy Corgan.

  • @amapunker76 Billy Corgan was no more than 15 years old at this time.

  • WHat an amazing and talented man. Eclectic to the core.....

  • i love this video

  • te amo klaus nomi!!!!!<3

  • Why did you have to go and die on us so early, Klaus! Wish you were still around.

  • Oh wow. Amazing.

  • verrückter Vogel, aber er war ein wahnsiinig guter Sänger, die Stimme unbeschreiblich,

    fantastic

  • Merci Klaus, tu es dans mon coeur !

  • wow

like i belong to you de muse!!!

    no lo sabia

    que sorpresa

  • Voice of an angel... thanks for uploading this vid :)

  • Isn't this the outro (what is played during the credits) to "URGH! a Music War"?

  • Indeed it is!

  • "URGH! a Music War" WHAT A RARITY!!!

  • look on wikipedia

Klaus Nomi "Aria (from Samson and Delilah)" (End credits)

  • Действительно! он шикарен)

  • Великолепен, обаятелен, актер....

  • Mon coeurs s'ouvre å ta voix

  • I recognize the aria that he starts off with, but can't remember the name or the opera. Anybody know?

  • Samson et Dalila (English: Samson and Delilah), by Camille Saint-Saëns

  • This is wonderful...thank you for posting it. :)

  • This show can be purchased on Amazon, it is the Glenn O'Brien's TV Party: The Sublimely Intolerable Show (1979)

  • Bravo! Viva Klaus Nomi!

  • He has a good smile. ^_^

  • Every time I hear his voice it brings tears to my eyes. His voice was so beautiful. Had he not passed so soon, there's no telling how far he would have went. One can be sure he would have been a colossal success, and how more more enriched our lived would be.

  • it's so cute, notice how when he's first introduced he does that little click with his tongue to acknowledge his presence...?

  • That's a sound check for the mic, but it's still cute.

  • Oh I know, but he put his own 'Klaus' brand on it as only he could!

  • @videovixen71

    He's just checking the microphone.

Clicking like that is a way to measure reverb, or lack thereof.

    Singers do this often.

  • @larkydozer yes, I know, but I was commenting on how cute it was of him.

  • @videovixen71 I also smiled, hes so cute:)

  • mon paradis sur la terre.....magique .....quelle sublime interpretation. love klaus.for ever

  • what year is this ?

  • It's from January 8th, 1979. It is also available to purchase, I got mine from ebay.

  • Black and white TV in 1979?????

  • I recall some low-budget stations were broadcasting in B&W as late as that time. The changeover to color wasn't as abrupt and absolute as our changeover to digital these days. It "coasted in" and some way-out channels actually broadcast solely because it was using out-dated equipment other stations were selling off cheap.

  • well tv party was on in new york, then it was also on in Los Angeles for only 30 minutes ...your comment may be right.

  • Interesting. I suppose TV Party must have been some kind of loose-format variety spot, am I right? I never saw it in particular, but I recall such programs back then. I wish there would be more of this today, a more free-access entry for talent and interest.

  • i love the show. wish I could email glenn. I just discovered this because it looked interesting to me on netflix...I am hooked!!!

  • cool comment!!!

  • For purchase?! Where and how?! What DVD?

  • It's like when he hears the music, he turns into a different person, Nomi the Space Man and blurts out those wonderful sounds!

  • It starts at about 0.33 and goes on for a while while he is immersed in his music.. which he loves so much..

  • brilliant

  • I love him.

  • it's nice to him smile :)

  • oh my god!!! , i really loved this video, his performance is amazing, he had a beautiful voice, i`m speechless , klaus , you will always be in our hearts!!! , we miss you!.

  • I would die without YouTube. Thanks for this.

  • so charming...

  • It's like a trip to the moon, smiling and crying at the same time.Such an actor, singer all around moblle piece of art.

  • Very macabre and talented indeed !

  • How great a voice does Klaus have? I love this guy.

  • sure wish more people where not so afraid to be truly beautiful as klaus was.

  • he's so talented but he scares me

  • Wow what splendid footage of Klaus! thank you so much this was just beyond words. What a talent Klaus had! I just wish I could have tasted his lemon tarts! :) Wasn't this song from his Samson and Delilah performance? Correct me if I am wrong.

  • this is the Samson and Delilah aria

  • Wow, this is nice, love the Lo Fi sound and seeing Klaus Nomi kind of "out of character". What an amazing voice range he had.

  • I'm in love.

  • Does anyone know what pastry shop he worked at, and if it's still around??

  • I can't thank you enough for posting this!!! woo!!! did you know you guys can download these? its the best way to preserve them i think

  • January 1979: Mon Coeur S'ouvre A Ta Voix

  • ohhh wow...I now love youtube..(or at least afamie81 and angi).thank you I love this even with the "bad' mic.

  • which song is it and what year?

  • In 1976 Klaus had a cooking spot on Glenn O'Brien's NYC cable show TV Party. So it seems that this was done between 1976-1978 Think the song is from "Der Ring Gott Farblonjef."

  • I saw that one interview where Klaus said people ridiculed him for looking strange before he became a musician... and I find it so hard to imagine, because I think he has the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen, and overall a very handsome face.

I never liked opera but with Klaus you see so much emotion reflected in his eyes and such passion. His voice is so powerful, and his eyes are almost just as powerful.

  • Klaus Nomi have a very nice smile ;D

  • I agree with you, but would have to say that I can imagine plenty of people not 'getting' Klaus; either his music or his looks. Look at the infamous Jersey show for example.

  • A rare and sweet gift to the world....I am told he used to sell bratwurst at a kiosk in Berlin to make ends meat(sic.)(sorry, couldn't resist that one)A great German, really a shame he had to leave us so soon

  • isn't he OOSTREEAN? "in an affected operatic voice"

  • ne-Deutsch Ich denke

  • wow, very interesting.

  • What a tremendou voice! I miss him so much.. We lost a treasure.

  • All treasure ends up lost eventually. What's important was the value that it at some point held. As long as we hold Klaus to a higher value his treasure isn't lost. Even if it's on YouTube, or in your living room. Memory is what you know, not what you see!!!!!! But, we still can see him thanks to technology!!!! WOOOHOOO

  • this is my hands down favorite clip.

My cats name is Claws Nomi.

  • lol clever

  • he did had a great beautiful voice

  • the smile at the end made my heart explode <3

  • Oh mine too.........I LOVE that smile, it's the most beautiful in the world.

  • He reminds me of that Mike Myers SNL skit where he plays a german new wave guy.

  • il nous fait découvrir et aimé l'opéra il est parti trop tot j'aurais aimé qu'il soit éternel meme s'il l'ais dans ces création c homme es une merveille de pureté

  • Very few men after they have matured can sing sapprano

  • He was just so EXQUISITE:had a voice of unearthly beauty and the most delicately beautiful face. He truly was a one-off, a complete original!

  • And a genuine nice guy:-)

  • Es ist ein Beispiel der allerhöchsten Sangeskunst, Hochachtung vor solch einer Leistung. Leider ist er viel zu früh von uns geschieden.

  • This is fucking brilliant. The audience was laughing at him, but they shut up when he sang.

  • naw, they were not laughing AT him, he was making them laugh because he was pulling some intentionally funny faces
