  • Grew up listening to Mr.B the first African American singer heart -throb.Sung beautiful to match his debonair good looks! Met him briefly at the twin towers restaurant where he was our entertainment for the evening back in the early 90s

  • my Mom's favorite singer, rest in peace, Ma!! 1-11-29 ---- 5-6-10

  • This brings back so many memories... when i was a baby.... literally 4/5 years old, my dad and i used to sing this song together... too bad now that im 17, we dont even talk anymore.... :( i miss you daddy.

  • My Mr B shirt,my croonin g to my high school gf,those were the days before dope, gangsta rap, street gangs, just good wholesome fun,oh just to revisit those days.

  • why can't I leave a simple inoffensive comment? have tried several times!

  • @wisteria888 I understand..the truth just comes out.

  • my mom's favorite singer, and her favorite song of his (besides Cottage for Sale) - she passed a year ago. nice to hear this.

  • @motown1diva my mom was crazy about him, his voice his looks, everything..... mine died 3 years ago, age 80.... she left me with a legacy of loving such music. although the world was no less troubled back then, when I hear this music it seems it was slower and less complicated. Or were we all living in a dream before the rude awakening?

  • Thank you Maya for sharing... and than you direfranchement for posting!

  • He could play trumpet too, hoping I can find a number featuring his brass ability too.

  • I think Al Bowlly sung this song in the 30's

  • All time beautiful voice...If I were the judge he would be the winner!!

  • Pure voice of the one and only.Incomparable!

  • A class singer.

  • I had the pleasure of seeing Billy in the 70's. Handsome man, great dresser, and terrific singer. Magic.

  • 50+ years of such listenung pleasure

  • after Billy Eckstine came Johnny Mathis...another golden voice.....Cindy

  • @sweetnoots

I recently uploaded a video of "Mr B" titled "A Cool Dude From The 50's dressed to kill with his famous "rolled collar"

  • I agree with the last comment EXCEPT he would not get on to Britain's Got Talent

or American Idol in the first place because..........

    He's got ALL the talent!

  • love this song

  • wow i prefer this to most modern music, so much more wondrous

  • Tremendous voice and talent.

  • I would like to endorse all the glowing comments made about Mr. E.

Also do not forget that he led a top notch band at one time.

Living in Wales(UK) in retirement I would like to dedicate this title to our Prime Minister and former Chancellor of the Exchequer,Gordon Brown, who is determined to steal everything from those who have led a frugal life to provide for their retirement and give it to those who have not! Sorry, I do go on....

  • How do you TOP this??????

  • Easily one of the very best ever!

  • Sinatra admits to having borrowed everything he eventually became ,from the Great Billy Eckstine.

  • It just doesnt get ANY BETTER than this!!!!!! FANTASTIC!!! I worked with him many years ago. He was in his seventies and I was in my early twenties and he let me hang with he and his buddies all night after his concert because he was so impressed that someone my age new everything about him and his music! It's a night I'll never forget Mr. B!! I was in heaven!

  • simply amazing.... i'm speechless

  • As good as ever there was! Bravo!

  • He is up there with Sinatra and Como!

  • I hate to say this but this my first time hearing this man sing. What a strong smoothing voice!!! Classic, true Classic!!! When I heard Sarah Vaughan singing with this man I had to find more on him!

  • If you knew what they had to put up with on a social level during there time,It would make you appreciate them even more.Funny the world knows the true American heroes.Thank you Mr Billy Ecstien.

  • The Voice!

  • Now I remember why I can't listen to singers of today. It's a good thing there is such a thing as 'recording' industries. I have proof that the greatest singers of all time have come and gone. Fortunately, they have left a vast collection of their works. There isn't a singer today that could carry Mr "B"s jock.

  • yes lamon mr b absolutely incredible

  • "Class" with a CaPiTaL "C". They didn't call him "The Smoooooooth Mr. B" for nothing.

  • sing it again billy,sing it again.silk.

  • Billy Eckstine would finish in 9th place on American Idol. That is how dumbed-down the American public is now. Garbage music, food, movies and TV.

  • @you are positively correct,. the music today 4/10 is garbage. HONEY 1931PervisJohnson

  • @PervisJohnson you are entirely correct. today's youth are into screaming, disgusting lyrics and no talent musicians. this beautiful voice from heaven is something to appreciate, if you have any taste at all. roselli

  • @Honey1931 He's elegant! And that resonant voice! A man's voice!

  • @PervisJohnson : it is too bad we are not blessed with your taste in food, tv and music.

  • @PervisJohnson

Either that or he would have been voted off. As a whole the American public falls for the lamest things!!

  • Incredable voice! we dont have this talent anymore.

  • Takes me back to a better time. What a voice!!

    Thanks for posting this.

  • Master class in session every time the man approached a mike

  • @robertclemon AMEN!

  • It just does not get any better than this.

  • @BrizyComics I agree, oh yes!!!!

  • On what album can i find this recording`?

  • The MAn

  • This is singing,,,,,,not like what I hear today...Thanks for such a beautiful song by Mr. B

  • MAGNIFICENT.... what a beautiful video, a beautiful song sung by one of the best singers ever.

  • grave mistake for the thumbs down...Eckstine's voice is divine...just glance and listen around - there is nothing like it recording today across the seven seas

  • Just beautiful. Thanks for posting.

  • Billy was one of the best back in the 40's and 50's. There was even a dress shirt collar named for him. Wide collar was named Mr. B style.

  • Great voice and style. His biggest favorite, shrieked for at his Paramount appearances, was

"I Apologize". Haven't seen that here on YouTube. Hope somebody can upload it!

  • Tremendous singer. One of the best!

Had terrific top and bottom notes.

  • I love this song! I perform it with my band, too. Nobody comes close to Billy's version, though - how gorgeous! Best, Ken
