  • Do u need to put it in the fire

  • Hi Fredde

Ever thought of making a fire piston?

    Love your videos!

  • Great trick!!! Do you use green wood?

  • man hör på din engelska att du e svenne, de e bra!;)

men vad använder du för trä?

  • man hör på din engelska att du e svenne!;)

    de e bra pöjjk!;)

  • what kind of knife do u use?

  • @bboydreamer96 It's a Mora

  • @bboydreamer96 I think its a Mora 511....

  • My first thought was to whittle down the other stick as an easy means for making a stem for a pipe. But the second more important thought was carve the hole a little more and use it as a nozzle for a small bellows. beats becoming winded and dizzy.

  • Hi, I was wondering, I've been making spoons and pipes and stuff out of wood...is it dangerous at all to harvest wood that you dont know if its toxic or not..is there a way to tell if it is?

  • @HandsomeSasquatch

the only way i know about is to read about toxic woods. to learn to recognize them.

  • might be able to fashion a fire piston with that trick

  • i tried this the first time with Beech tree... didnt work very well...it breaks too easy inside.

  • LOL I agree having a small hole on one end and a big hole on the other end aint right

  • Norwegian? :P

  • if you can make a longer one it be good for a blow dart gun

  • Thats pretty cool! I could see some uses for that trick here in the desert. You could easily make a tube for coal burning containers, or even a drinking tube to get water out of cracks in rocks or puddles. Seeing how there is so little water here lol. Definitely going to try that one!

  • Nice. Going to have to try that...

  • Cool. If you can do this with larger sticks, I bet you could use them to carry thigs!

  • good its cool you can make very much thing with this

  • hmmm i thin that you can make with this a toothpick :D

  • wth? how does that work?

  • @6leafdom

Looks similar to stripping the insulation off wiring. Only here the wiring is the core of the wood and the bark and a bit underneath that are the insulation. I imagine it would take a good bit of practice to cut deep enough to twist that off but not so deep you break it all the way through.

  • This trick would be useful for collecting sap from a maple tree. What brand is the knife?

  • i dont know wat brand it is but theres alot of reviews of them on youtube ,i think its from sweden or some country in europe, last review i seen said it looks cheap, so u dont feel bad beating it up, and its very sharp, and the $ is no more than 15 $ for the knife he was holding in the video.

  • @brettbretster it looks like a mora, but i am not 100% sure.

  • does it work with any tree

  • i dont know, just go out and try

    '

  • do you have to heat it up.or does it work with out heat?

  • Neat!

  • u r a god

  • det undrar jag med. är det lite som med sälgpipor att det är lättare på våren när saven stiger?

  • de kan de varaa.. får fråga honom personligen istället.. men jag tippar oxå på sälj

  • make a cool pipe

  • i have make pipes in other videos

  • Thanks, I went and checked those out you are a pretty talented man!

  • thanks,

  • Cool skill. Have you tried making a whistle using this skill. I bet it would work. I will experiment with this idea. Thanks.

  • can this work with a real long stick (like to make a blowgun)? or does it only work with little sticks?

  • try :0)

  • Do you know what species of tree that wood is?

  • Nice discovery!

This can be way more useful in bushcraft than making a necklace.

  • if you want, you could make it into a fire piston! :D

  • yeah i have think about that to, but have not try it yet, thanks for all your comments

    fredde

  • Ok thanx

  • Ok thanx

  • tried to do this but itjust broke off and didn't make a hole any suggestions

  • i really dont know why you dont get it to work, my advise is keep trying, or just forget about it, :0)

  • keep makin video, i luv it

  • pith xylem cambium phloem cortex... i think

  • Wow that was pretty cool

  • Cool video!!!! Could you use the pointy end as a fishing bobber?

  • yeah i know, i have make videos about that,

look at the Video Responses to this video,

  • I love the fact that you are using a Mora knife. I own several of them and have found them to be the best knives around.

  • this could be used as a straw

  • Is it critical the wood be green and hot so the fibers are more pliable? Can this be done with dry wood or wood that is not hot?

  • no, it need to be green wood and it need to be hot, :0)

  • Whats the longest piece you've made doing this? You could maybe use the hollow piece for a straw to drink from a puddle if needed. Great video! Thank you for sharing! Tack så mycket !

  • the little stuff like this may not seem to be needed but out in the bush u can use this for stond of stuff , cool video 5 stars

  • great video man !

  • You can make another hole to that stick and put a small stone on the end of it and have your Pipe. Or you can use the other stick as a weapon. Thanks man, good video.

  • what type of wood are you using?

  • ive watched alot of your videos and i am inspired. you should make a tv show. hehe you are very good when it comes to whittling and i havent checked but do you have a swedish fast knife tutorial? if not please make one. happy camping.

  • thanks, i have a swedish fast knife video wher i show i how i make it,

  • Thank you for sharing your talents!

  • i wonder if you could use that to make a fire piston

  • its not working, its not smooth on the inside

  • could you wrap a piece of sandpaper around the male end, re-insert and spin? maybe the two parts fit together to tightly to get the paper in though. it was worth a shot

  • haha pretty cool...

  • Mr. Hobbexp,

Your videos are very cool. You seem like an average modest normal guy, but you have taught me several good ideas. You are very clever, in my opinion. The first video of your that I saw was you showing us how to use a fire steel one-handed.Then you showed the proper way to cook with hot rocks, which I had never seen before, where you only dip the rock in part way and you split the stick for the tongs to hold the rock easily.Swedish Fastknife.Folding seat on pack. Many clever things.Thx.

  • normal guy, hehehe,, funny, :0)

nice to hear you like my videos,

i have 35 videos on here, hope you like the other 30 too.

  • Yeah. You know what I mean.Figuratively speaking normal. i.e. *apparently* nothing special.Anyway no offense intended.Kudos all around.Bravo zulu.Grazzi.That sort of thing. Thanks for your hours of standing out in the rain just to educate us.

  • thanks, i know what you mean,

  • what kind of wood/tree is that? i dont know exactly whats happening when you heat it up lol looks cool though, didnt know you could do that...interesting.

  • i dont know the english name. :0(

    thanks for your comment,

  • oh,is it the tag that says "overlevnad"? cuz i could find out the name lol.

  • överlevnad is = survival. but in swedish.

  • oh lol,well i learned something anyway :P

  • Nicely done. I did not know this was possible until now..

  • thanks :)

  • looks like if ya fire hardened it youd have a wood awl.

  • thanks, i gonna make a new video later, there i show the secrets and some more tricks, if you dont like to wait, ist only out and try:0)

  • That's awesome! 5/5

  • thanks,

  • great trick :-) 5*.

  • thanks,

  • Wow, that is amazing!

    Thanks for this video!

    5/5

  • thanks, i know what i can have it fore now, and i think i show it up in my next video.

    respect,, 30$,

  • this could a drinking staw or you can use it to blow air to a fire to relight it!

  • Exactly what I was thinking!
