  • mr Q acted in so many bond's movies ,he saw all the different actors , from sean connery to pierce brosnan . unfortunately he missed daniel craig . almost everybody always waited the scene where bond choose his gadgets after Q quick introduction . the best couple was Roger Moore- Q , roger moore was always testing gadgets humorously to the great despleasure of Q

  • Q - Desmond Llewelyn. Classic and Icon on the Bond Films. He's the Best! The Bond films just are not the same without him. Perfect Tribute for a great actor!

  • One of the best features from any of the Bond DVDs. Better than the film it accompanies, The World Is Not Enough.

  • Does somebody know the song from 0:00-0:14 ? It isn't "Nobody does it better", thats the 2nd one.

  • that was so sweet!

  • There is only one Q, and only one M, Judi Dench can never take Bernard Lee's place.

  • I agree with you!!

  • This is PRICELESS, Layton!

What a wonderful tribute to one of the most underrated character actors in film. Many thanks for posting it.

  • He's right, Bond would have been killed years ago if it wasn't for Q, so why'd they remove him in Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace.

  • They take place before all of the other James Bond movies.. he wasn't around yet more than likely. Craig stated he would like to see Q and Moneypenny in the next film.

  • I love this guy, he was an absolute Legend! R.I.P. Desmond.

  • R.I.P Desmond

  • Title of the song is Nobody Does it Better.. from the Spy Who Loved Me, sang by Carly Simon.

  • actually 1914 - 1999

I always waited forthe Q bits my favorite character especially because Desmond Reprised the role so much Q couldnt be done again so well even though in the next Bond movie theyre bringing back John Cleese as Q

  • What is the title of the song?

  • john cleese doesnt compare.

    desmond was a legend

  • very true, but if they had to pick anyone to replace him Cleese is defiantly fit for the role.

  • Thanks so much for posting this. What is this song called?

  • Hope you all enjoy this video. I have tons of videos but I get more comments on this video than any other one. God Bless Desmond. R.I.P.

  • Q- "Now pay attention 007, I've always tried to teach you two things. First, never let them see you bleed".

    Bond- "And the second"?

    Q-"Always have an escape plan".

  • nobody does it better but Q

  • there needs to be a new Q for bond 23 to show how bond first met him and gave him gadgets. it should be an original story and establish the bond formula

  • john cleese should come back as "R" at least

  • I think they'll bring back R due to the non-canon storylines they seem to be doing (e.g having a female M when in Dr No M was a male)

  • they mentioned that in goldeneye

  • All the movies M was in he was a male since 1995 Judi Dench does the character

  • I know, what I said was that the storylines have gone all non-canon (Having a female M for Bond's first assignment)

  • I agree its not the same

  • There was only one Q

  • Simply marvellous :)

*As the BMW is being sworn apart* "Q's not gonna like this!"

"Everything for a man on holiday. Exploding alarm clock - guaranteed never to wake up anyone who uses it."

  • not to put a rain cloud over anyone, this guy did not make this video. It came from the world is not enough movie on vhs and I am sure DVD too

  • Sad, so many of the good ones have gone. Over the years one after another they leave. Q was an anchor in that movie series, it will not be the same without him :(

  • At least he got a good send-off line. :|

  • And I don't even think it was meant to be

  • That is sad, great video.

  • Think about it, the last line he ever said in a Bond film was "always have and escape plan."

  • perfect song

  • His last moments on film seem so prophetic, he leaves Bond and he leaves us.

  • when i was a young kid Q was always my fav character

  • "That's my lunch!"

  • I STILL can't believe Desmond's dead.

  • me too

  • Comment removed

  • Q was probaly the best character...

  • 'HUNTING!' hehe...

  • what is the song

  • "Nobody Does It Better"

Theme song to the spy who loved me

  • Rebelmachine69, there was also a second actor who played M before Judi Dench got that role. His name was Robert Brown, who passed away in 2003, which could mean that he's the one LaZyLuKe25 was REALLY referring to.

Brown became the second M after Bernard Lee passed away in 1981. His last Bond appearance was in 'Licence To Kill' in 1989.

  • You fucked up the ghettoblaster part, but generally good job!

  • Best scene ever 0:57-1:07. Haha chaos all around, ejector seat goes off and Q just stares, Bond starts playing with the sandwich and they go on like nothing happened. Haha then he scolds him for snagging his sub, brilliant.

  • Q has left us, Now M has done the same. Whos next?

    RIP M and Q

  • Judi dench is dead?

  • No, Rebelmachine69, Judi Dench is still around and is scheduled to return in the next Bond film, currently known as Bond 23.

I suspect LaZyLuKe25 is referring to the original M, Bernard Lee, who passed away in 1981.

  • no, judi si dead.

  • LaZyLuKe25, I checked the news, and there is no mention of her death anywhere.

  • If you want to check for sure that someone is dead, check their Wikipedia Article.

  • A quintessential member of the Greatest Generation. Desmond Llewelyn was a POW in a Nazi prison camp for five years. Llewelyn and his generation will be sorely missed.

  • When I saw this on the World is Not Enough VHS tape I cried. The ending still gets me teary. I think the song is perfect "Nobody Does it Better" nobody will be able to replace Desmond.

  • Q worked excellently in every single film he appeared in. Even when the franchise became too reliant on Q's gadgets, his scenes were still ironically an absolute joy. Q is the one character in the James Bond franchise who could not ever be replaced and that's why I hope they don't reintroduce him in the Daniel Craig films.

  • Guess what sux now, M has died too, the best M ever to play the role, the one in Quantum and all the others. RIP Q and M.

    Now M need a tribute.

  • Ohh grow up 007!!

  • great clip, but the song is a bit annoying.

  • Q is a LEGEND.

  • Pay attention double o seven!

  • its too bad he died. may he rest in peace

  • best gadget he made was that enjector seat in the car fukin brilliant!

  • Comment removed

  • i never joke about my work 007

  • theres only one Q

  • Haha the Goldeneye one is the best!

  • the best thing about 007

  • didn't they take 'ghetto blaster' out of the DVD version of the movie because it was 'racest' and they replaced it with 'boom box'. is that true, 'causei think that it is...

  • that last part where Q says: "i have allways tried to teach you 2 things..."

What is the name of the movie where he says that?

  • The World Is Not Enough

  • I believe that was in "Tomorrow Never Dies".

  • it was in my vhs copy of the world is not enough

  • wats he doing in the chair going down?

  • having an escape plan i guess

  • LOL CLASSIC

  • 007: "'Morning, Q. Sorry about the leg. Skiing?"

    *BOOM*

    Q:"Hunting!" >:)

Dear God. One word, one shot, one kill. That was brilliant.

  • He truly was the best!

  • Desmond Llewelyn!!!

  • RIP Des... you're the fuckin best.

  • rip q.

  • Had he lived to see Die Another Day...that movie would have been much better.

  • he wouldn't of been in it anyways, the world is not enough they made R take over

  • I cry everytime I see this...and I'm a guy.

  • aww i love Q he is like one of the best characters in the whole james bond franchise R.I.P Desmond ure goin to be truly missed

  • "Dont touch that, its my lunch", my favourite line

  • Thankyou Desmond. You are truly, truly missed.

  • Q was the best because James Bond and he kind of had a sarcastic relationship between them. Desmond was the reason I like most of the movies.

  • He was a truly talented man. He was one of the main reasons why I became a 007 fan in all honesty.

  • Here's my chance to bragg!

Q was my grandfather's second cousin.

I only met him once, some 3 years before his horrible death! Then I went to his funeral.

He was a gentleman, and exactly the same as he was on screen!

  • he was born and brought up in the now blan-y-pant house in malpas newport s.wales, theres a plaque on the wall to remember him.

  • two words for Q sheer genius

  • sorry now i see

  • good times...

  • R.I.P. Desmond... You are missed

  • What sucks of his loss was he died because of an accident not old age. Q was the best. He would have been 95 This Year. RIP

  • i cant believe they even tried to replace him with another guy in die another day..

  • You apparently don't know who the guy is that they replaced him with. He is a big icon of English television. Look him up, he's hilarious.

  • he may be good in english television but he sucked in die another day. why do u think he wasn't in casino royale

  • Agreed- Cleese was, and is, great as a comedian, but not as Q.

  • I miss Q. Scenes with him and 007 were always so good, no matter what bond movie you were watching you could always count on that (except the ones without Q of course). "Balls Q?"..."Bolas 007"

  • ''Someone seemed to have stuck a knife in my wallet''

    Q: ''O they missed you, what a pity''. Brilliant and R.I.P Q.

  • does any1 know if desmond was saved by the grace of god?

  • i hate R, the professor in the bond games! no 1 can replace Q!

  • He was also in the films, bro... both The World is Not Enough and Die Another Day... though he had taken the Q mantle in the latter... he's no Desmond Llewelyn, thats for sure, but I can't imagine anyone actually hating John Cleese.

  • i know he was in those films, but u can't replace Q!

  • Again, you can'r replace, but you can redo, especially since they've rebooted the francise. Again, you can have another kirk, like they're going to have in Star Trek XI, but you cannot replace Shatner, you have to be you're own Kirk, or, in this case, Q.

By the way, Quantum of Solace looks GREAT!

  • say what you want ok. i dont see why any 1 likes that faggot in the car insurance commercial. llewelyn rocks, not so much about clesse.

  • What are you talking about? What guy from the car commercial. I never said I liked cleese as Q- I DIDN'T- and Llewelyn rocks, I agree. I just think that a new Bond calls for a new Q, because, like Craig Ferguson said on one of his monologues, "A Bond Without gadgets- there's something wrong with that, that was my favorite part of the movie."

The franchise is rebooted, so why not a new Q, like the Kikr in Star Trek XI? But no new Kirk could trump Shatner; no new Q could replace Llewelyn.

  • i wish they would just make a q but not make him talk or picture him in the series....

because bond without gadgets is retarded but

bond without desmond is even more retarded.

desmond did he was in commercials.

  • don't touch that, that's my lunch

  • ........PROPER!!!

  • It's like what they are doing with another of my favorite franchises, Star Trek. They're taking it back to Kirk's days. Now, you can't just REPLACE Shatner as Kirk- he's iconic, just like Q is in Bond films. Still, you've got to keep the character alive, because Trek isn't Trek without captain like Kirk or Picard or Janeway, and Bond isn't Bond without Q there to give a gadget or two and act as both a witty friend and fatherly voice to Bond.

  • No one could replace Desmond, I think that is a very big reason why they didn't even try in the newest Bond movie. As I recall he was planning to retire after TWINE, but fate intervened. This video almost made me cry the first time I saw it on the TWINE video. May Desmond rest in peace.

  • He had already retired from Bond before he died... but sadly... his final performance had only been in British cinemas for 2 weeks before it happened.

  • He had said in an interview before the release though, that he had planned to continue in the movies either until God took him, or they no longer wanted him, or something along those lines. I don't remember the exact wording.

  • I need to quit arguing with myself... If I could I would delete my previous comment, and this one would be made redundant. Either way, Desmond is sadly gone, and there is still no new Q.

    RIP Mr. Llewelyn

  • james bond will never be the same with out the Q........ the sadest moment ever in a bond movie was the ending of this tribute always have an escape route.....this has been done with the up most respect for Desmond

  • "My god what is bond doing"

    "I think he's attempting re-entry, sir!"

  • James Bond is not James Bond without Q, Q is the best "Bond" because Bond isnt Bond without him.

  • Indudablemente el talento que el Gran Q tenia para la serie Bond hace mucha falta God Bless You Q remember forever.

  • Desmond was the glue that kept the Bond series together. I will miss his brash humor and wit. Vaya con Dios, Desmond

  • "Q, have I ever let you down before?"

    "Frequently."

  • It's so difficult- Q was........ Q. He was always there, just about, and you almost always could tell right around where he'd show up.

You can't replace Desmond, but what about Q? You NEED a Q, it's just part of the whole Bond series. A Bond film is like a

Star Trek with no Enterprise or a Star Wars film without a lightsaber fight.

And we need a Q, NOT AN R. He was ridiculous-

no, we need an inventor of gadgets, a fatherly mind for 007, not a patsy and easy target for humor.

  • i just logged in to post this, since i never post

This was beautifully done, great ending and great song for the video. He was definitely an important character on james bond movies. You picked a perfect ending for the video with that scene, the last one he appeared in too. As another poster said, definitely put a tear in my eye as well, sigh*~ well done.

  • Actually, this video was made for the VHS release of The World is Not Enough, just after Desmond Llewelyn was killed.

  • i dont see why people dont belive that on the back of my twine it says tribute too q featurette.

  • ya its on my copy

wait desmond was killed or did he die of old age

  • car accident

  • I thought R did pretty good BUT nobody can replace Desmond. Rip

  • we will allways remember you Desmond {Q} and miss you no one could replace you.

  • His exit in 'The World Is Not Enough' is pure class.

    ...

...I've got something in my eye.

  • If it had not been for Q branch You Would have been dead long ago

  • James Bond lost a good friend. No one will ever fil Desmond's shoes. His chacter was one of the poeple I liked most about James Bond. RIP Major Boothroid

  • at 0.59 "don't touch that, that's my lunch"! brilliant.

  • of all of the bond movies, That's my favorite line of GoldenEye

  • I never noticed before, the long look Q gave JB as he disapeers.....like he knew he might not see him again....very sad

  • Wanted to see this again. :) Glad you have it posted. Thank you.

  • i always look forward to the Q scenes....shame they got rid of them.....RIP Desmond.....Nobody does it better....

  • Poor Q. "R" was a terrible replacement.Of course there will be a new Q, but no one will ever be able to replace Desmond Llewelyn. The only constant in the bond films is now gone.

  • 'Q' forever!

    Nice video!

  • To have an escape route is the one thing Mother Goose never taught us.

    Thanks Q.

  • dude, dont say that. ur just a childish hooligan with a max payne reference username.

  • My user name is irrelevant, really. By that rational having 'wario' in your name would make you pretty childish yourself.

No impact on my perspective and views on

Desmond Llewelyn, James Bond or Q.

  • First Bernard Lee "M", than Desmond Llewlyn "Q", Than Lois Maxwell "Miss Moneypenny" the orignal staff is all dead

  • I didn't realise until recently that he wasn't in LALD because I was so used to him being in the James Bond movies that I didn't realise lol.

  • Nobody does do it better, and thank god they don't use John Cleese anymore!

  • Yer he is shit at playing Q, and when Q died in real life, john cleese's charter should of stayed as R and should of not got Q.

  • Yea that is probably what they should have done.

  • Very nice video.

  • man why did q have to die it sucks like hell

  • Long live the memory of Desmond!

  • I always liked Q more than Bond.

  • R.I.P. Desmond Llewelyn

  • Agreed.

  • nobody does it better. James Bond fans everywhere will miss you forever and i know for me it is never the same.

  • What song is it playing in the background?

  • The song name is called "nobody does it better" and it is sung by a woman.

  • "Nobody Does It Better" by Carly Simon

the feature song in "The Spy Who Loved Me"

  • It's from "The Spy who Loved Me"

  • i knew that, its just i did not know it was carly simon

  • It is so prophetic looking back- "Always have an escape plan." The line, and the subject (Q's leaving/retirement) gave an actual on-screen reason for his dissapearance.

Still not fair, I envied him- who wouldn't wan't to make all those great gadgets, even if they always did meet an end with 007.

  • At 1:14 which movie is that from?

  • He certainly did have an escape plan... Many thx Desmond.

  • sure john clease is funny but it wont be the same without desmond

  • Imma miss Q's comebacks on 007. ;p

    R.I.P Desmon Llewelyn
