Hey Chris, I've come back to this review after watching the movie, and I must say I agree with everything you guys said. While I have never been "in love" with anyone (not yet, anyway), I definitely felt JGL's character, and it's so refreshing to see a romance movie from the guy's perspective. While the movie had many LOL moments, there were other moments where I teared up, seriously (I didn't cry, lol). Great movie, though. I give it an A, too.
You guys literally just said everything that I thought about it! I remember seeing it and then begging my friends to see it too (im a guy) and they were like "Dude, I don't wanna see a romance movie." And I was like" Trust me, this isn't what you think." They saw it and fell in love with it, as I did. This movie is amazing!
@ChrisStuckmann i just have to ask why is it not an a+ anyways for me it was also the first movie i never went out of my way to see and i remember crying at the end cause it was just so good. love youre reviews keep it up
This is movie is one of those rare gems nowadays that accurately depicts a relationship. It's not cliche or unrealstic and you really care about the characters. A lot of guys hate romances and just call them "chick flicks", which annoys me because they miss out on some fantastic films such as this and Lost in Translation, which is my 8th favorite movie (yes, I'm also that guy). Anyway, awesome review!
Great collab. review guys. This is my favorite romantic comedy and one of my favorite films of all time. So unique and original. JGL and ZOOEY D. FTW! :D
How is your favorite scene the same as mine Chris??? I've never been in a relationship but I hate when things don't go as expected. That scene was just so perfect and real life. Shout out to my friend Benji Gonzalez who made it possible for me to watch this movie for the first time like less than a month ago. JGL is movies!!!
Great tag team review. I love this movie. Expectations vs. Reality is a great scene and I really like the Harrison Ford reference. Jurassic Park is my fourth favorite movie and I'm looking forward to the review.
Ok this will be a mouthful(typeful?) (500) Days Of Summer might just be my favorite movie. The directing, writing, acting, and cinematography is all perfect. Probably the only movie that will ever change my opinion on love,Friendship, life, and filmaking in general. My absolute favortie scene is "Expectations VS Reality, It made me make my own version Marc Webb's abillity to make a great movie on a low budget is incredible and I can't wait to see what he does with a bigger budget on spider-man. 5/5
500 Days of Summer is really a guy movie specifically for guys. Not saying that girls can't watch it too. Just don't make this a date movie to see with her. Rent Say Anything for that occasion or Casablanca. Can't go wrong with the classics.
@GtarSwordman Say Anything just might be my 2nd favorite romance film. I saw that in theaters earlier this year at a special screening. I had seen it many times before but seeing it in the theater was awesome.
@ChrisStuckmann Really well done review and I completely agree with your opinion. You should watch "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" and "Annie Hall" though. Those two films may be tied for my favorite "romance" movies. They both really opened my eyes to the what could fit in the "romance" genre, as opposed to just cheesy, women-oriented chick flicks.
I disagree the movie was sappy and cliched. All the things it was trying NOT to be I guess. Sorry but I had my intelligence insulted just as much in this movie, as any other romantic movie.
Like him sitting at the same bench, looking at the city and whoop there she is, they meet agin in the end yada yada. Not saying , that would never happen but it IS convinient.. Just an example.
Dang it Chris, now I have to rewatch this movie. I haven't watched (500) Days of Summer since last December. Maybe it was because I was drying my hair or some reason wasn't paying attention to this movie, but I didn't like it as much as I know others did. Luckily it's on Cinemax so I will check it out today. Thank you. :)
As much as I like Blake, this should have been the chance to get Jeremy to ACTUALLY see it for once! or maybe hes waiting to get to 500 videos like what he did for his "300" review
I really agree that this movie is AMAZING! Not cliche-like and with great acting! Also good one is "Forgetting Sarah Marshal" and i liked "Mir Nobody", but that one is not that much comedy , still awesome!
Romantic comedies are not so cheesy and unrealistic. That's crap. In recent years there are loads of cliched romantic comedies that I hate but if you actually search for the classics then you'll actually be able to say it's only new romantic comedies that are formulaic. Sick of hearing from people that 500 days of Summer is the only good one. But it's still a great review
Agreed, this film so honest with the way of relationships in life. I was one of those people who saw this after it got popular, but I'm still glad I saw it. It really can change your outlook on relationships or even life itself.
That scene in the meeting room where the main character breaks down is so unfortunately true and emotional. It's a shame life is actually like that. But then there's always the start of a new beginning, hence...Autumn.
YEESSSS!!! FINALLY!! Fanatastic review, I love this movie, I LOVE JGL, HUGE fan since he was doing Poptar commercial when he was like 5, great actor....just, an amazing review...can't wait for Joseph to start bringing in Oscars ans Best Actors awards :)
Great review, Chris and Blake. I completely agree that this is a wonderful movie that I find to be one of the most realistic movies that I've seen in the past decade. Such a great movie.
I'm one of the few girls who don't really like romance movies, but I'll give this one a shot! Sounds good.
