@mat9792 Be brave. Coming out to my parents was one of the hardest moments in my life. Chances are, tears will be shed. Just make sure that you have complete privacy. Tell them that it's not urgent, but it might be urgent someday. Overall, just tell them that what you really need from them right now is just for them to listen. If they really love you, as a parent should, they'll listen. God be with you.

@mat9792 Don't be afraid. Yes every parent reacts differently, but always go with the mindset to hope for the best but expect the worst just in case they aren't on the same page right away. Make sure you find a group or somewhere for you to go speak with others as well. When I came out my mom told me she already knew and has always been my rock when I have my issues and struggles with my depression. No matter what, it gets better and MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A GAY SUPPORT SYSTEM!! GOOD LUCK!!! :-)

Such a sad movie and story. I am glad his mom realized how harmful words can be that she now helping others, but sad that sad that it took the death of her son to make those changes. @mat9792 Don't be afraid. Yes every parent reacts differently, but always go with the mindset to hope for the best but expect the worst just in case they aren't on the same page right away. Make sure you find a group or somewhere for you to go speak with others as well. When I came out my mom told me she already knew and has always been my rock when I have my issues and struggles with my depression. Sir, I appreciate your concern and kind understanding of my birthplace, however there is no comparison between the Asian beliefs and the liberal society of US or perhaps the European region as well. By saying this I do not intend to let down my country or question the fact that it happens to be the fastest growing one on the globe, however the understanding of the very word "GAY" is "light years" away from an Indian parent's mindset.

Saw the movie for the first time. Could connect to every emotion, every word, every situation that has been portrayed.
Starting from finding ways to end my life to living in fear of rejection and being mocked, everything is what Is part of my life.
And then, being in a country like India, I just hope I dont end up like Bobby.

You should not say "especially for parents of a gay son". It is not about that. That does not do justice to this film. That is too narrow. It is about accepting people with differences, not straightjacketing them and listening to them. This is not just about gay people. It is about all people who struggle to conform to certain religious or social expectations.

Such a sad movie and story. I am glad his mom realized how harmful words can be that she now helping others, but sad that sad that it took the death of her son to make those changes. No one should have to go through that. It's not a choice, someone with a hormonal imbalance myself, I believe that plays a big role.
I also liked how that pastor said that the bible was written by man long ago and how things have changed since then.
