  • The only thing I agree with Archie about is at 4:38 and him saying private parts, he shouldnt have to be forced to say breast. Lol, funny but still

  • my grandfather said it, my uncles said it, my father said it, my older brothers and sister said it, and now I'M saying it:

my grandmother IS the real-life Edith Bunker =P

  • Archie hates every nationality, it seems. Even among the Caucasians: Britons, Irish, Italians, Hungarians. Other than "American", is HIS nationality ever mentioned?

  • @slmacph "Bunker" is traditionally Irish (or perhaps English), but over time name origins get difficult to trace...

i'm thinking Lear chose "Bunker" because it's non-committal: it isn't McDaniels or Rizzo or Schafer, etc, Archie's heritage isn't immediately apparent. but notice how in this show, nearly all the other characters (nearly) have easily identifiable surnames. Jefferson, Lorenzo, Stivic, Pulaski, etc...

  • Sally Struthers? Rob's tits are bigger

  • david soul wt an afro

  • @Lighthouse724 Yes. A stereotype about gypsies is that they occupy empty stores and set up indoor "camps". I don't know that they actually do this but it seems reasonable enough.

  • I think that would be great to pose for an artist when your young, and then 40-50 years down the road see your portrait hanging in an exhibition at a famous gallery

...it would be something to say when your an old lady to point out that that was you at 20.

  • It's safe to say that Archie Bunker is the gold standard of how NOT to be.

  • You could tell how old the episode was when you heard Jean Stapleton's 'real' voice coming through in the character of Edith every so often.

  • I never realized that was a door at 1:38. knowing the 70's had odd things, I thought that was just a decorative stain-glass piece that is the wall. ya know?

  • What's up with Archie's beef against hunagrian people?? Besides aren't gypsies usually people from Romania?

  • @Jakegothicsnake There are Hungarian Gypsies and Romanian Gypsies, but not all Hungarians or Romanians are Gypsies. The Gypsies were nomadic and were/are basically a minority. They were slaves in Romanian until the late 1800s.

  • @Ilfariun I always thought a gypsy was just a person who wore bandanas and hoop earings and was either a fortune teller or a traveling perormer.

  • @Jakegothicsnake No, we're actually a race. Practice of the occult-tarot cards, fortune telling etc-is a common occurrence, however, and the clothing you mentioned (the stereotypical Gypsy garb) fit the times. Poor by nature, as most vagrants are, we did resort to thievery, murder-for-hire, and anything else that would make a quick buck. We weren't a very reputable people. XD

  • @Ilfariun Ahh.....I see.

  • @Ilfariun

Good points! You'd hardly call the Gabor sisters, for instance, Gypsies.

  • "Nudidity"

  • sounds like deep voice Edith and high voice Edith mixed in ne in this episode LOL

  • HE'S A GYPSY!!

    LOL!!!

  • 3:32 Rob Reiner is cracking up.

  • I got no anatomy stickin' in my throat.
