  • YEAH BARUK HASHEM, GREETINGS FROM PANAMA. OHHHHHHHH VIVA LA SALSA.

  • Love it love it love !!!!!!!! barukhashem

  • good stuff, great take

  • wow im Jewish i never heard something kool like this Jewish song in SALSA!!! IM AMAZED!!!

  • Well that's really a tribute for all cuban jews! Thank you!

  • This is music that is put together very well. Music, not notes! Good job!

  • It's difficult to believe that this band has only rehearsed once. The big band over at Boys Harbor in Harlem rehearses every week and they don't sound this tight; I should know, I filmed them twice. And I do agree that chemistry is the pivotal factor with a band this size, but the technical abilities and imagination of each musician helps tremendously.

  • Yes Raycon--the band had really only rehearsed once when the video was shot (without the other two horn players!) If you share your comment about my band being tighter than his band, I think Luis will be amused--since he was the leader back in 1993 when I played in the Harbor Band and he taught me much of what I know! Thanks for your comment.

  • PS: it's now called "Boys and Girls Harbor" since girls have been playing there for a long time! This is one of the greatest aspects of The Harbor Big Band: open to all!

Thanks again for the supportive comment.

  • ok so i watched this a few times (mostly in disbelief at the inclusivity of its conception)... tell me why is the line 'hava neranena' against the clave? was there no other solution? oh, and say high to josh.

    nice playing.

  • Hi Barak,

The film captured the group's very first time playing together.(Minus one rehearsal with most of the group) So in answer to your question--lots of solutions; just haven't tried them yet. Several people have commented to me on the cross clave throughout the tune. The arranger, Jose Bowen, wrote it this way and people (non musicians!) have loved it as is --so decided to keep it as written for now.I'll say "Hi" to Josh--and btw: enjoyed the "Happy Birthday" music box version!

  • In something good we will stay connected through the universe and through time!(it was 1994 that Sara visit me in Puerto Rico!)waaaaaaaahhh!!!Every musician is a joy to listen to. Put them together and you hear what ears are meant for: real music!Congratulations to all of you brothers and SISTERS!!!siguen pa'lante y ahora a gozarrrr, abrazote de Curaçao, May Peters

  • Yeah Sara! Very enjoyable--yes, joyous; a joyous explosion!!

    Congrats!!!

  • This band sounds like it's been playing together for YEARS! The music is swinging, and I love the concept of Havana Gila, a cross-cultural mix that really works. Outstanding playing by everyone! 5 stars!

  • really enjoyed it - love the hybrid of salsa, soul and sassiness!

  • YEAH!!
