Despite what everyone else says, this is my favorite Isis album. I always liked them for their more atmospheric side, which this album shows plenty of.
This was my least favorite ISIS album but they're still my absolute favorite band in human history and I respect every single effort they made for creating such amazing music for us to share.
Saw these live in manchester in the uk.....I need these guys to reform. Best gig iv ever been to, honeslty. Does anyone have any info on what the band members are doing or if they joined another band?
@bravestyogi News from the 4th of this month: Ex-Isis bassist Jeff Caxide, programmer Bryant Clifford Meyer and drummer Aaron Harris have been moving forward with their as-yet unnamed new project together. Harris recently tweeted the following on that:
“Demoing a few new songs with Jeff and Cliff today. No name or plan for our project yet, but we’re happy with the progress + sounds.”
their first album "celestial" is the last one I bought and its running up my mental Isis chart very fast. "glisten" and "swarm reigns (down)", those tracks are so fucking sweet!
I love their music. They convey so much emotion through their instrumental work and just the sound of the vocals, you don't have to understand the lyrics to "get" the song.
does anyone know what amp(s) Isis use for recording, or what amp Aaron's playing through around the 20 second mark? also, how do they get that underwater-ish sound in 1000 shards?
I've actually see it. Thanks though. Aaron says he uses a VHT live since it can do cleans and dirty sounds, and they don't say what Mike uses so I'm curious what they're usin in the studio since Aaron says they usually use one amp for cleans, one for dirty, etc.
I cant get itno Panopticon that much, Oceanic only hits me in certain moods. While their first four are the real fuckin dose. This new one is actually really fuckin good, reminds me of some music someone would uncover in a lost pyramid.
these guys are cool ppl. if i get a band together it would be like these guys and there art, i feel where ethere going with there music and there contrast in there art sort of speak.
I read somewhere under a diff ISIS vid somebody saying that ISIS was tight... I think that is the bast word to describe them.. they are tight..fkn water tight even, which gives tham the room to add diff textures in that are easily distiguishable even if they are quite subtle.
I love their work.. very moody and preogressive... the feel of thier music shifts like the seasons.
i think it must have just been that gig u went to. check out the beginning has an end tokyo, and i think u'll change ur mind and also check how powerful his voice is on old man gloom's stuff.
u probably just caught him on a hoarse day or bad mixing from the sound guy
For one, how can you compare totally different styles of music, you really do sound like an ignorant beotch sayin that. They are both incredible bands, but nothing alike
First point: Both bands ARE GREAT. That's undeniable.
I agree with you, I think are bands from different styles, but they have common ideas, such as transmit the most intense feelings, the deepest sensations...that's what makes them huge bands. Tool is my favourite band, but that's just a personal opinion. But I love ISIS too. When I listen to them I can see the reason why Tool has invited them to open their shows. =)
couldn't have said it better myself. I saw that show w/ Tool & Isis and it couldn't have been a better combination...well maybe in Neurosis joining the crew would have made it the best possible show, but it was so f'n awesome. Although Maynard whom I give the highest respects to f'd up several times but who cares he's god.
Fucken is it? Prat. Im not gonna comment on who is better as there is only a tenuous comparison. I love isis and don't listen to tool. I have nothing against the band but all the people I know who listen to tool are commercial cocksuckers!
Tool's ok, their fans though... yikes. Isis is playing a bunch of old stuff on their 10 year anniversary tour. Stuff from Mosquito Control and The Red Sea. They were sick in NYC last week!
I saw them in Portland, Oregon a couple weeks ago and it blew me away. I do wish that they would have played some of their newer stuff, though. In the Absence of Truth is by far their best work.
inhalcyon- Wow, where to begin? What a horrifically ignorant and pathetic comment..."Tool fucking sucks." I'm sure ISIS would love to tell you how ridiculous of a comment that is. Listen to ISIS interviews and you will see where a huge influence from their sound comes from...Tool...
hmmm. I saw ISIS open for Tool last year. Tool seemed pretty into ISIS and vice versa. So much so that Justin Chancellor actually came out on stage and played with ISIS for their last song and did like a dueling bass thing in the song. And fyi your just a hooker with a penis.
Isis are just brilliant full stop all there music in general is brilliant from the first album till date I love Celestial(The Tower) its really powerful
