Hmmm? What was my favorite? I'm trying to decide between the spicy dirty rice, stuffed bell peppers (shrimp based), cabbage and rice with pork meat, gumbo or redbeans and rice (with pork meat or sliced smoke sausage)?
My grandmother made a killer chicken soup when I was young. The broth, the chicken, the veggies... and she served it up with alphabet noodles for me. So good.
your grandma was chinese?!?!? im puertorican so my favorite comfort food that my grandma used to make me was white rice with corned beef! cheap and good!
My Grandparents raised me so I have several favorites. I know when I was a kid I was so happy when she would make mashed potatoes because she would the next day patties with it and fry both sides in oil. It was so good, crisp on the outside and mushy on the inside. Sometimes the simplest things are the best. Also with leftover roast beef she would make roast beef hash the next day. On Christmas eve she whipped up a ham, potatoes and salad just for my best friend and I. I will miss that lol.
Well.. Since I'm Swedish my grandma always made home made Swedish Meatballs with macaroni at it's best. Served with a nice thick brown sauce. ^^ Loved it to death!
my grandma used to make canetoad soup (chicken and vegetable broth) she said that when she put it outside on her pattio to cool down canetoads hopped in it this ofcoarse made me quite scared of eating it as a kid.
My great grandmother cooked killer fried chicken and chicken and dumplings. She was kind of old timey though and left the bones in the chicken and dumplings. Was still killer.
Greg, The miraculous thing about this item, if you let it stand out for hours (let it dry up some) it takes on a fabulous flavor than right out of the microwave, like night & day. If you could box the later version it would be 41/2 stars easy ! You should try there Tuna Noodle Casserole (5 stars for me). It is outstanding ! Anything my Noni made and I mean anything was fabulous. Never had 1 lousy meal in the 25 years of her cooking I had. She was from Sicily. She is the head chef now in Heaven !
I only had one living grandma when I was a kid and she didn't cook. But if she did I would want it to be Shepard's Pie. I have yet to find a good frozen version of it. Trader Joe's is so bland it's hard to believe it's as disgusting as it is. Safeway sells a decent version but there's no peas.

DO YOU REMEMBER...
1. When you could get on YouTube without a huge ad at the top of your homepage?
2. When EVERY music video was from a user, not Vevo?
3. When you could use it as a music player without having an ad at the beginning of a music video?
4. When copyright infringement wasn't a big deal?
5. When it was YOUtube? Tell YouTube how PISSED we, the YOU in YOUtube, are with their greedy corporate asses! Thumbs up if you agree.
