  • God bless you!!

My iphone button hasn't worked for a year and you finally helped me fix it!!

  • His number one always pops up.

  • Wow, tons of views. Well done apple, i see you have adapted to the xbox strategy

  • if my screens cracked, should i still try it?

  • @Leogasm unless the screen is SEVERELY damaged around the home button it should be absolutely fine.

  • Hi, so i did what i saw and when i connected ribbon 1 and 2 back together i tried turning my phone on and wont, what should i do i connected it to my computer and the screen still wont turn on.

  • @JustToBeDirty i learned from a lot of mesing around on my friends 3g, your phone is on right now if you've tried turning on. believe me the phone works fine without the screen. so what i did was plug in apples oem headphones WITH the in-line controls and played music until the phone died. then reconnect all 3 connectors. the little tiny one goes in with about .5 mm of space between the white line and the recieve. the other 2 should feel a distinct "snap" as they are inserted. then try again.

  • HAHA at 4:14.

  • This worked for me. Thanks very much.

  • damn it didnt work and now i have no iphone

  • amazing, it worked!

  • Awesome fix man!!! had just changed the glass on my phone and couldn't get the home button to work! Just like u said, there was no connection cause I had bent down the two connectors. Popped them right up, closed it... worked like a charm! :)

  • so i ripped off the metal pieces... fuck... now it wont even work..

  • Thanks for posting this video! This is I think the best demonstration on how to fix iphone3 home button on youtube. There are some confusing videos out there. Thank you for making such a simple demo!

    Excellent job

  • Is it the same thing with the iPod touch 4 Generation

  • thanks this helped me cause i changed the rear of the iphone and the button didn't work so thanks to your video its like new i give you props

  • gonna try this once i get home. thanks heaps for the tip

  • THANK YOU!! My home button works so much better!!!

  • @asmodeus20 will this work for the iPhone 4 too?

  • great video!! thanks for the tip!! I've been noticing this problem on my iPHone 3Gs for awhile... so I switched to Android... BIG MISTAKE... I hate having to think so much with this phone, so tonight I'm switching back to iPhone, and am going to fix the Home button.

  • If you aren't comfortable taking apart your iPhone and I wasn't, you can just add a home button on to your screen and it fixes the problem. Go to your settings, click general, then click accessibility, turn your assitive touch on, and it will add a home button/and or other gestures to your screen. Fixed my problem without taking apart my phone, adding an app, or taking it to be fixed. Let me know if it works for you!

  • @msnlswords

nice one mate you should make a video lmao 5 second fix hahaha

  • @msnlswords it actually works like that too but lets see for how long cause some other "tricks" also work for some small time

  • nice work buddy you just saved me $200. it worked a treat!!! I signed up to youtube just to let you know. any more tricks keep posting them

  • does anyone know if this procedure restores the clicking sound you get when you press the home button? it's definitely unresponsive most times, requiring pressing it hard for it to respond, but with no click sound.

  • I just damaged the ribbon cable no 3, while trying to open the case but the phone is still working fine for some reason and the home button is fixed! thank you.

  • thunbs up for mother fucker at 2:50

  • well when i opened up my iphone the little things that ur sposed to bend up there completely flattned and i cant seem to get the up any tips

  • Here's a tip from someone who disassembled and replaced his own iPhone 3g screen. When using the suction cup, DO NOT pry like him. Put it on a flat surface and apply gentle leverage until it pops up from the frame. Also, put the suction cup right where the screen starts ABOVE the home button. Good find and video man, I'll be doing this later today. Oh and one more thing, did you just pry the bottom connectors for the home button?

  • Does he say "Motherfucker"at 2:50

  • @superchief93 yes

  • @superchief93 "Get this motherfucker over..." :D

  • @jamalmorelli very funny man!

  • @superchief93 4:12 "put that there, Close this fucker shut"

  • @superchief93 i think he did lol

  • nice video. where to buy suction cup? pleas?

  • @vrajavala get an iPhone disassembly kit damn cheap hobo they're 5 bucks on amazon

  • @TheChickenrun3 Thanks a lot man. I'm actually trying to fix a home button "spring" on an IPOD touch 2G. will the soldering kits be helpful (the ones on ebay?)

  • I'm ditching my iPhone after owning one since they were introduced because of the home button issue. Sorry Apple. Should have made a better product.

  • it works amazingggg!!!thanks a lot!!it just needs you to be really gentle and carefoul and i would suggest watching a tutorial specifically on how to proper open an iphone so nothing will fall apart or break like many complained here!that worked amazingly for me<33thank you!!

  • Works great thanks alot XX

  • Whaaaaa wtf?!!!!

Had for almost 5 weeks problems with my home button and this fix solved my problem within 5 minutes!!

    Great video! Thnx! :D

  • Its a great video and if i have this problem I will use this!

  • sweet. Worked like a champ! Thanks for the technical info!!

  • thanks for the tip man my wife is very satisfied with the results. she has been pestering me to try to fix her phone and you nailed it.

  • Apple store Monkeys did exactly what this uy said- try to sell me another phone. Pricks. Fuck you Steve Jobs.

  • @Czechmate1967 yeeaah; steve jobs is dead. Have some respect man...

  • @rwishi Oh do get over yourself he was a cynical billionaire business man not your mother.

  • your awesome dude!!

  • If your screen is crackes can you still open the phone up

  • hey thanks even though i only pushed the pins a little. I'm very scared mate, how ever it improved the sensitivity a little, thanks!

  • oooooooooooooooooo man i now your biggest fan thank you so much.........

  • ok i tried this and it still didnt work , but when i had it apart i pressed together the round contact on the back of the button ian it now works perfectly, hope this helps

  • this is a very delicate procedure, you should have done it with a better camera...you might make people fuck up their iphones...

  • I have the same problem with my power button. Can anyone help me

  • Thank you for posting this video. Very insightful! I'm having problems with my iphone4 s home button ... I tried takin it apart but the inside is crazy almost every single part has a cover so it's harder to work on . This video @ least gives me a better idea of what needs 2 be done

  • Would the process be any different with an iPhone 4?

  • Thanks opened up the phone and one of the contacts was missing used the tin foil idea and it works great. Thanks again

  • @vladimirsuckmeoff no i jailbreak it before my home button broke after

  • My home button broke, I jailbreak it and went cydia, xsellize saved my life

  • Everyone with a broken home button! No worries, use his video for now but if it doesnt work go order a new home button ribbon ( replacement ) because you probably broke 1 of the 2 pins that touch the pad which triggers the home button. Once you order the ribbon which is very cheap go look up how to replace homescreen

  • I will try this tonight.. I've had my home button NOT WORKing now.. for 2 weeks.. a pain in the ass... I will let you know, How I make OUT! THANKS .. great Video!

  • one of the leads was actually folded back on my phone. just used small pliers to bend it back in to shape and it worked. thanks for this video.

  • Thanks so much for posting this!!! My daughter gave me this old 3G to fix for her a long time ago and this was the first bit of advice that actually helped! Thanks again!

  • youre a life saver man!!! it worked and i tried everything

  • Just tried this. One of my pins was broken off so rolled up the tiniest bit of foil and put it in. I'm delighted to say we're back in business! Woohoo :) Thanks so much

  • can you do this with an ipod touch 1st gen?????

  • Also, I used a pin and opened up those contacts. They have an opening in the middle of each that I made bigger with the pin.

  • Thanks!!! Worked for me. I was about to throw that old 3G away and now it works like new!

  • @Toastedcarrot I just did this, but broke the pins, so used aluminium...but after turning on wwith aluminium it turned off....then no response..not going to DFU,,no response at all..

What to do now please help me...

  • I Like your video post. It's very educational and it helped me with the same problem I am having with my Iphone 3GS.Thanks for the help!

  • Both of my leads/pins broke when I tried to bend them back in place. They are VERY VERY sensitive. If you are lucky enough to keep the pins from breaking off, great. but if you break them, have no fear. The aluminum foil trick really works. You need to roll the aluminum foil (two pieces, one for each pin that you are replacing) into really SMALL balls. Make sure that they are SMALL enough so they don't touch each other. Place them on the logic board contact area and replace the screen.

  • finally got it working. I broke off a prong. The foil moved around, so I used some glue stick to hold the foil in place. Working great.

  • i broke both a=off the leads or pins off when trying to bend them upwards. and the aluminium foil alternative doesnt seem to work for me :( i tried various shapes and sizes but the home button just wont respond. i would say i rolled the foil into relatively large pieces but still wouldnt work. any tips? ive tried like 20 pieces already. the display and everything is still working fine and normal. only the home button. help pls!!!

  • Easy peasy! Thank you!

  • legend! thank you

  • I've done it already to my iPhone 4 too.

  • THANK YOU! you saved me money. :) GODBLESS:)

  • Show me how to open an iPhone 4 and I'll love you even more. (no homo). Lol. Great video, btw.

  • great tip had screen off to clean. these are easy to bend back but can be bent with a duster if you dont know they are there...dan

  • This was fantastic! And, because one lead was missing and the other broke off when I bent it too far, I had to use aluminum foil. So, thanks to you both, Asmodeus 20 and Toasted Carrot. I dreaded taking this phone to the store. You both saved me a lot of money... :) I think fucking up means you didn't pay attention or you moved too fast, which is my usual MO. But, I did EXACTLY as was explained, rewinding many times, and it worked like a charm!! THANKS SO MUCH!!

  • @Artofbehavior how did you fix the broken lead

  • Guys, listen! If your miss the leads that connects the home button, simply replace it with a piece of aluminium foil. Worked for me, and saved me a couple of bucks :)

Thumbs up. Just so others can see it :)

  • @ToastedCarrot YOU ARE MY MAN TOASTED CARROT !!!! one of those leads were broken and i went into the kitchen and peel a tiny slice of aluminium foil and just placed it on the sensor.....IT WORKED!!! :) THANKS

  • @ToastedCarrot u shud make a vid

  • What do i have to do after this bc my screen is white and black now only.

  • awesome.. love it... try it out and it work out great.

  • This works........Yipee

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Just spent part of the day replacing my cracked 3GS screen, only to get an unresponsive home button at the end of it all. I'd been tweaking those pins but one of them had got bent the wrong way, so i'd been making it worse. Brilliant film, and after replacing the screen, a doddle to manage!

  • cant believe i never thought of bending the pins a little to join them up, finally got it working, thank you;)

  • Wow, I never thought about using a suction cup. I was using a flat head and prying it out. Which it ruins the rubber gasket around the digitizer. :/

  • Deng do everyone get their 3gs from their sisters?

  • @hiimrjay man i did

  • Damn! Just opened it and found out that the leads are broken and gone somewhere.

  • Good stuff dude! I never realized the two copper contact were touching the mainboard.Just fixed the little cs. Thanks again!

  • im scared i cant do it

  • @heleneng619 You can do it! It's scary taking it about the first time but believe me, If you keep track of the screws and remember the order of the ribbon (they are numbered). It's really easy. I really do not have a steady hand and I did it. Gotta have faith man!

  • what do you do if the little things that you have to bend up breaks???

  • Dude, i love you xD jajaja thanks:D it works!!

  • dude!! if you had a ring on your finger, i would get on one knee and kiss it as i call you Godfather! you helped out so much thank you!
