  • Professor David Flint knows his subject, Allison Henry is an idiot...

  • Success to the Australian Republican Movement!

  • @ultraprime2 Republicans should be forced to emigrate or be imprisoned for treason.

  • @xinistri Monarchists should go to Britain if they like having an unelected, hereditary head of state. Republicans have it right.

  • Envy of the world ...fuck off everyone hates fuckin britain

  • If Australia or Canada want to get rid of the monarchy and become a shite republic, go ahead. The British are not interested. All Britain wants is good relations with Canada and Australia, but apparently you both now hate us and instead suck the dick of the arrogant USA. Well, fuck off then, if you want to suck the USA's dick. Traitors.

  • @TheLiberalKnight

    Well bloody said, fuck them.

  • @TheLiberalKnight how ignorant are you! who do you think colonised USA? who do you think OWNS usa via corporation, admiralty,UCC,civil statuaries and codes. do some research moron....

  • @TheLiberalKnight the federal reserve owns our asses. the names of nations is a mere disguise that are all registered corporations with a company number and a seal that enslave ordinary people to the rothschilds never ending greed. we need to enforce common law for the rights of people for the people whichever form or format it may come in. WAKE UP. new world order is here.

  • @beklerken1 new world order theories are fucking lame.

  • .....and I for one welcome our new insect overlords.

id like to remind them that as a journalist i could be useful in rounding up royal subjects to toil in their underground sugar caves.

  • Why not elected the Governor-General? Is there any support for that?

  • I guess people in new world countries aren't as cynical as the old world, the moon landing may have been pointless but so is the Sydney Opera House it's still and engineering marvel and I'm glad we made it.

  • Australia and Canada you do know if you decide to get your own head of state it will add quite abit on to your tax bills!

  • @DaleWF10 That is pure bullsh*t.......we already have a governour general who is not elected and unaccountable to the people of Canada.

  • @jsinc909 You would where would you think all the funds that would be needed for the duties a head of state would carry out would come from?

And the Monarchy has also been a benefit to your countries look how fucked up stupid and corrupt the united states government is!

  • @DaleWF10

The US is fucked up for reasons other than not have an unelected foreign head of state.

  • @Amunication No what i'm trying to say is if they would of left the British Empire at the right time like Canada and Austrailia

There country would be alot better off I mean the amount of Presidients that have been assaninated are ridicolous

  • @DaleWF10

I disagree, the yanks probably wouldn't have the can do attitude that put a man on the moon if they didn't have the revolution they had, but it's easy to speculate about the past, I could have been able to fly in the past if I flapped my arms hard enough.

  • @Amunication Going to the moon was pointless and any nation could of done it because of the technological advances that ww2 brought

Just know other nations where stupid enough to waste billions on flying to a rock there was a meeting in the house of lords as too whether Britain should join the space race and most ministers opposed against it same happened with France!

  • @DaleWF10

If your seriously not inspired by the moon landing in the 60's you should just kill yourself, I know I wouldn't want to live my life being that cynical, your not impressing anyone by being a cynical jaded prick.

  • Everything shes says its as if she is asking a question

  • If you study Marx' Communist Manifesto you will find that in essence Marx said the proletarian revolution would establish the socialist dictatorship of the proletariat. To achieve the socialist dictatorship of the proletariat, three things would have to be accomplished: (1) The elimination of all right to private property; (2) The dissolution of the family unit; and (3) Destruction of what Marx referred to as the "opiate" of the people, religion.

  • As of last month (May 2011) only 32% of Australians expressed a preference to not have a constitional monarchy.

But no doubt there are a bunch of failed politicans out there still holding out hope for a run at the top job.....

  • Isn't it interesting that the only Australian-born royal isn't a member of the "Australian" Royal Family, but the Danish one.

  • @histrav actually you've forgotten about the Earl of Loudoun, who was born in the UK but his children are Australian born and all have titles

  • Parliamentary monarchy fulfills a role which an elected president never can. It formally limits the politicians’ thirst for power because with it the supreme office of the state is occupied once and for all

  • @yourLoyalBaron

America doesn't seem to be doing so badly what makes you think we will??

  • @Dimitri0809 Spend time in America and in Canada and you will know the difference. The two countries are so similar in many respects. America has a better climate and resources, however Canada is where they have a nicer standard of living and relative peacefulness. Canada's government and politics is more effective and far less dysfunctional than the US (even with Quebec separatism). America's big mistake was leaving the empire the way it did. Australia and Canada left the right way.

  • @yourLoyalBaron The U.S. made no mistake whatsoever with saying good-bye to the British crown in 1776. The ONLY mistake is being made by Canada and Australia with having a head of state that does not reside in their respective countries.

  • @jsinc909 You base that on what? Have you even stepped foot in America or Canada? Your comment brought no reason or evidence, just a blind assertion that the U.S. presidental republic is better than parliamentary democracy. Having a head of state run in an election on set dates forces him to spend half his time campaigning for office. Then in his last term, the government treats him like a lame duck and nothing gets done. Please bring something interesting to the debate next time.

  • @yourLoyalBaron 1. I live in Canada and hope it becomes a republic in my lifetime. 2. Your arrogance & conceit are amazing. 3. A Prime Minister in Canada or the U.K. actually has more power than the U.S. President. 4. With life expectancy what it is these days a King or Queen may not want the job for life? Has this ever crossed your mind ?

  • I don't want Australia to become a republic. I've grown up all my life under the british constitution and making our own laws of Australia fair. Without the monarchy, we will end up a failure like Pakistan. I do not want Australia to come under islamic law nor do I want my country turned into a terrorist nation. Australia is a multicultural country with sax-angleco been out numbered by other nationalities becoming citizens which in turn could change Australia. Say no to Australian Republic.

  • @thr33wisemonks

It's called the Australian Constitution you unimaginative sycophantic monocunt.

  • @thr33wisemonks "islamic law" "terrorist nation"? are you fucking insane? Just because the queen is white doesn't mean shes not foreign and living on the other side of the world. Also the royal family is German, they changed their name to windsor from saxe-coburg gotha during the first world war. as long as there is dickhead bogans who vote and belt up innocent muslims based on a tiny percentage of extremists i don't think there is any danger of your fears being fulfilled.

  • Australia will never change. The queen has never exercised her powers over any commonwealth country. Governments have removed a majority of the queens power already. It used to be that government represented the People to royalty. This is no more. Now, The Queen represents the people, and she will exercise her powers for the people.

  • @MikeySpicy1212

bullshit monocunt, queeny used her powers to sack a democratically elected Australian prime minister.

  • @Amunication And do you think Australia would be a better country if she didnt. Democratically elected, but unpopular when removed.

  • @MikeySpicy1212

well it shows that Australia doesnt have as much freedom as moast countries, being free means the freedom to fail.

  • @Amunication

I think we are to smart for that.

  • @Dimitri0809

your right we are too smart to keep having a foreigner as head of state.

  • @Amunication so why not grant HM Australian citizenship? Or perhaps you think the PM shouldn't be allowed to be an MP either?

  • @BronzedKiwiANZAC

Why would you be against Australia gaining more democracy by electing our own head of state?

Besides even John Howard admits the monarchy is finished when the queen dies, either way I don't think we should wait until the queen dies to become a republic, I would think the queen would love to live long enough to see Australia become a republic because it would be such a huge exciting history making moment I know I wouldn't like to not live long enough to see that.

  • @Amunication to be honest monarchies still live on, even if a king or queen dies there's always the "next heir" to the throne. plus it is still not clear on what the australian republic will be based on. furthermore, australia is already independent and a republic is not really necessary. besides, the monarchy is the main reason why australia became a country back in 1901, because edward vii approved it based on the advice from his ministers.

  • @liverpoolmatt87

    Pomgolians need not comment.

  • @Amunication insults won't help you there mate. try establishing a stable argument ;)

  • @Amunication No, the Governor-General sacked the same prime minister who had picked him as Gov-General. His government rocked by scandal, Whitlam attempted to maintain control by refusing to hold a general election. The Gov-General dismissed him and called for an election. In that election the PEOPLE decided to replace Whitlam when they could have returned him to office. Crown powers were used by the Australian head of state to secure the will of the people. Read your history, mate.

  • @yourLoyalBaron

We don't need input from a seppofied pomegranate.

  • 1975 statement from Buckingham Palace: "The Queen has no part in the decisions which the Governor-General must take in accordance with the Constitution. Her Majesty, as Queen of Australia, is watching events in Canberra with close interest and attention, but it would not be proper for her to intervene in person in matters which are so clearly placed within the jurisdiction of the Governor-General by the Constitution Act."

The Gov-General sacked the PM and called an election.

  • This is worrisome...

  • This show is a rip-off of a show in america called "good morning America"...

    PS foreign monarchs are gay

  • who is rothchilds best friend?the queen and philip:O) who owns 23 per cent of aussie land?the queen:O) who has just shown a intrest in coal in australia, rothchild:O) he owns a lot of aussie finance, believe me ,there will be no republic for you and us ,any time soon

  • [continued] sir rothchild owns half the worlds wealth,500 trillion ,,who do you think starts all the wars?the globalists do,,the usa is a miltary superpower, but it is owned by the globalists, they finance there miltary campaigns, and political campaigns,,hilary clinton was backed by rothchild, its not the politicians who rule, its the bankers, and the british dominate the banker system

  • a republic is a long way off,and the reason is this, who controls the worlds wealth?if you know about economics, you will know that is actually the british, the ango dutch liberal financial system,is controled by the main globalist on this earth, some call it [the hidden british empire]the usa reserve bank is owned by rothchild,as is the bank of england

  • Oh yeah and look at how biased this segment is. On the republic side they invite a pleasant, articulate Australian woman. On the constitutional side, they wheel in a crusty old British man. Yeah that's the way to set it up, have the side you hate be supported by a Pom that Aussies are naturally going to resent. That old Brit could be arguing that the sky was blue and people watching this are going to want to side with the young lady who says the sky is purple with yellow polka dots!

  • I hear this argument about how ''its time for Australia to grow up" and remove the ties with Britain. Australia isn't bound to Britain anymore. Today Australia relies on the United States for defence. So go ahead, turn republic. Be more like your new masters, the Americans. See how tearing up the constitution and traditions that have made Australia what it is today will make you more "grown up."

  • @59acu at the end of the day,its up to you aussies to decide, either way,it wont make any difference whatsoever to us here in britain,if you do decide sever links,i would like to say, thanks for the memories:O)

  • @59acu actually if we had lost the war australia would be german now tard :)

  • @59acu that much resentment?

  • Comment removed

  • google[does the queen own australia] once on page, click on top heading, intresting reading

  • Comment removed

  • australia was colonised on behalf of the crown, that means the land belongs to the queen, why do you think there is a common[wealth]??believe me,she owns vast amounts of land throughout the world from old empire, did you know that if the queen can change a high court decision by royal decree, which bypasses courts and pariiament decisions

  • one other good reason not to get rid of the queen,is that she owns a vast amount of land in australia too,she would have to be compensated for it,which would in effect, cost australia, billions

  • @59acu it wont make a bit of difference to australia,if they get rid of the queen,a head of state is only a ambassador to the country, the queen is probably the most famous person on earth,so in my opinion,it makes sense to keep her,you pay nothing for the queen,,if you elect your own head of state, you woud have to pay a pretty penny for them, whenever i go to the states, they are so fascinated with royalty, and jealous, believe me

  • YES

    Australia become a republic!

that means more queen for us, Canada!

  • the queen is just a figurehead of friendship between our nations,a bond of shared heritage, history,we fought together in two world wars too,,monarch parliamentary democracies such as the australian and british ones ,are proven to be more representative on the people ,than republics, think hard before you throw away the commonwealth and british connection,it could alienate you from the rest of the world

  • The USA made this decision back in 1776. Its fun to see all my cousin nations still talking about it in 2011. LOL Australia would do good if you ask me to get a US style constitution and republic. But its none of my business my country is swimming in debt so I will leave it at that.

  • It'll probably be the best for Australia. Your flag will look good with a few stars and stripes, don't you think?

  • Republic= Complete waste of taxpayers money

  • @koorja1 Right and paying (much much much more) for a monarchy is not? Choosing leaders not by their skills but by their family members sounds good to you? Of course it does, you are equally retarded.

  • @Stalfosd lol First of all the whole lineage thing is completely ceremonial, the monarchy IS chosen through merit in the governor-general who acts as a safety-net when dickheads like gough whitlam get into power. All it is is another check on authority. I hardly think we pay much more for a non-existent referendum on remaing a monarchy don't you? Do some research or just be quiet

  • @koorja1 What's? Choosing the whole lineage thing is completely ceremonial? That justifies discrimination based on genes... how? Choosing leaders not by their skills by by their family members is justified by the fact that it is "ceremonial"? WTF?

And yes, we pay a hell lot more for a monarchy than for a republic. As the matter of fact, (European) countries with a monarchy are also super socialist and have the highest taxes in the world. Monarchy is just another form of slavery.

  • @Stalfosd The royal family are hardly leaders, just tourist attractions, the GOVERNOR-GENERAL is chosen on skill ie. not discriminated against, the GOVERNOR-GENERAL has the power, Australia pays jack-shit to the monarchy they earn their own income through British taxes not Australian. We would pay more for having a pointless referudum with millions of dollars spent on advertisment instead of things much more important so we can have a "president" instead of a pm

  • @koorja1 You are totally ignoring what I'm saying and leaving me without any other opinion but to repeat myself. How much does that say about you? A lot. You are talking crap. "The royal family are hardly leaders, just tourist attractions", so why exactly do you support monarchism? We would pay more for having a pointless referendum? What kind of a moron are you? So if totalitarianism becomes "free" it's therefore better than liberty? What are you talking about? You make absolutely not sense.

  • @koorja1 Hey moron! How exactly is a monarchy not a a complete waste of tax payers money as compared to a republic? With a republic you get to choose a leader. With a monarchy you get to choose the bitch (PM) of the head of the state which you cannot choose. The current queen/king gets a kid and you are like "Holy shit that's my future leader! Woah!"? Monarchies cost much more than republics. You are some verminous piece of work.

  • Romilly Weeks of ITN made a point about the inevitability Australia would become a republic. If and when that country does, it'll be important for Australia's government to learn the lessons of how badly many of the other republics have been run. It may be preferable, for instance, for Ukrainians to have a president as their head of state, but look at the rift that still exists between pro-Russian and other parties in Ukraine's parliament.

  • Who cares? I don't and I am British, and if you ask any Brit, they don't really give a damn about the Queen being head of state in a foreign land, and wonder why Australia needs a foreign head of state.. then again, will it change anything, if they become a republic.. no, just a lot of expense, and will have no real meaning to Australians, and won't mean anything to us.. It works for us..

  • i want a republc so bad but i think we should wait till the queens passes

  • @kane18O i think it would be harsh to leave when the queen dies you should do it now if u don't want her as head of state, don't wait to do it when the nation is in mourning, it would be the worst way to do it.

  • @HaiLsKuNkY i dont mean the very day shes dies i mean like 1 or 2 years later

  • that monarchist sound suspiciously british......

  • Republic = Pointless.

  • Comment removed

  • @BorsBaledwyr Your existence is pointless. You are a slave and you like it. You like to worship leaders that are chosen due to their bloodlines and not skills (in other words, discrimination). You are a shit stain on humanity. The very same kind of vermin that voted Hitler into power. Piece of shit!

  • "We are the envy of the world." No, you're not.

  • @PeaceJustice4ever Well statistics say we are (highest standard of living ect...)... but i don't think the constitution has anything to do with it.

  • @PeaceJustice4ever lol they said the same thing about our economy during the gfc. they just want us to sit down and shut up while they end capitalism and enstill fascism.

  • @PeaceJustice4ever try telling that to the people that choose to migrate here from all over the world, both legally and illegally.....

  • @PeaceJustice4ever For being about peace and justice you sure do like fostering racial hatred, hypocrite.

  • @RaptorRex89- How on earth am I fostering racial hatred?

I love Australia, but the monarchy is not what makes it great. Australia is a wonderful country, in spite of the fact that an archaic and unjust institution still exists within it.

  • @PeaceJustice4ever as a matter of fact the monarchy is one of the major reasons why australia is a great place. it's also one of the major reasons on how australia became a country and has kept the nation together since 1901. although the constitution limits the powers of the monarchy

  • Personally the issue as to whether or not we become a republic is less important than the TYPE of republic that we would become.

We must choose the MOST democratic version and Gallard wants parliament to choose the president? I think NOT!!

  • C'mon Australia....start the republic bandwagon again. Here in Canada we have too many people with the idiotic mindset that " oh,no we can't become a republic because then we will be just like the Americans". A person has not attained absolute freedom until they can elect their head of state.

  • @jsinc909 true but referring to Canada I think you guys should be able to elect your Senate before you even consider a republic

  • @jsinc909 Get a grip.

  • @BorsBaledwyr You monarchist morons should seek some psychiatric help for your romantic love affair with a king/queen as head of state and also some therapy for your paranoia with having an elected president . When your are receiving this help please bring along fellow idiot from my country known as " gbambino"

  • @jsinc909 Leftists and supporters of monarchism are sick in the head. They are too weak to take care of themselves, therefore they need the government to babysit their sorry asses. The bigger the government the more they will like it. They love totalitarianism because they are totally worthless and need somebody else to totally take care of themselves. Monarchism is authoritarianism. It's discrimination because on bloodlines and a non-chosen leader is always a dictator.

  • What is the world coming to?Everyone's dogging to become America?Seriously, fuck you republicans, copying America.

  • @barricader6

that is the moast relifeulous thing I have heard in all my dick.

  • Notice also from this video that the monarch / republic debate has a lot to do with demographics. If a vote were to be held today in Australia the republic side would almost certainly win because a large percentage of those who voted against becoming a republic in 1999 are now deceased.

  • What you guys want a republic with the guys we got now, LOL australia is fucked if we keep them office. You say a bill of rights, yes I can understand that we should have rights but the pollies want us be a republic to controll us more not give us rights, thought even if australia does become a republic the Queen or the King if the queen is past will still have some controll of Australia anyway.

  • i don't know really?

Sometimes i think yes, republic. Sometimes I think leave it like that?

  • @cmpFRANCE93 i like the queen but i think australia should be free in all cause.

  • Comment removed

  • Long Live The Commonwealth!

Long Live The Queen of Canada!

  • @iMike360 You monarchist idiots with your " The Queen of Canada " bullshit are really something else. She sets foot on Canadian soil what maybe once every 7 years. Truly brainless.

  • @stormfront33 This is HARDLY as "truly brainless" suggestion as you assert. A Head of State ruling from a far ensures we do not have to deal with daily pomp and circumstance of First Lady's and presidential limos!!!! and in this globalised era sharing the same head of state is hardly a bad thing

  • @CMFrenchEsq You enjoy having a head of state that does not reside in your own country............time to give you head a shake !

  • @stormfront33 Why should I give my head a shake when your the one propagating nationalistic fever in an era when we face so many global challenges like over consumption, sustainable living quotas, health and environmental concerns which transcend national boundaries,

Furthermore, a resident President and First Lady or First Man, could take the spotlight away from an elected Prime Minister and cost far more to upkeep than a overseas head of state etc...

  • @stormfront33 As do you, Mr Canadian. She may be the Head of State, but she's a symbol.

  • @stormfront33 She is the Queen of Canada, it's official, and only republican fools would call it bullshit.

  • @Falwren An unarmed person is a subject while an armed person is a citizen. Thomas Jefferson

  • @jsinc909

Consider the source first please. Jefferson was a slaver, a traitor, and a slippery fiend, so there's no need to go quoting him.

  • @stormfront33 She was just here less than 2 months ago.

  • @Falwren Like I said previously.....once every 7 years ! ! !

  • The producers of this programme are republican. That's why they pitted an attractive, pleasant sounding woman on the republic side against a crusty old Brit on the constitutional side.

Instead of making a decision about the future of the country based upon superficial appearances and people's accents... why not consider the serious consequences of tearing up the constitution over such a trivial point? Dont you think the PM would re-write the rules making him all powerful in a republic?!

  • @yourLoyalBaron do u support monarchy in all commonwealth countries like me? ( Im french)

  • @cmpFRANCE93 France is not a commonwealth country. I dont know all the particulars about the French consititution, but it is a presidential system which has numerous disadvantages to a parliamentary system.

  • @yourLoyalBaron yup , i know .

  • I HATE KARL :D

  • You diggers are not the only ones with a foreign head of state - how English do you think the surname Saxe-Coburg and Gotha really is?

  • Then go live in England.

  • The republican says that very royal visit and every Australia Day the issue of a republic keeps coming up. Well, no kidding! It's republicans like her that keep bringing it up!

Her proposed plebiscites are also no more than an attempt to circumvent the constitutionally required referendum for constitutional change; Aussie republicans know they can't win the honest way. Sad.

  • At the end of the day ( i.e. the queens passing ) the republicans will finally win.......PREPARE FOR IT .

  • Are you even an Australian? and I don't mean have you been living in australia for a few years. ARE YOU AUSTRALIAN?

  • If you think Canadians are so stupid, you're free to walk off to join some other more enlightened populace. Or, do you just want to sit in your mom's basement and gripe that nobody likes to kick things as much as you?

  • So, you avoid the point all together. Unsurprising, given that you've no substantial argument to make; just general, petulant whinging you're so desperate to have heard that you pretend to be two different people here. Right, jsinc909? If you and your split personality think Americans are more intelligent than Canadians, head over there. Would you need two Green Cards, though? :D

  • @stormfront33 stormfront is the name of a neo-nazi white supremacist group in North America. Hmm you republicans sure are in some company there, lol.

  • Lol thats what you get when half your population are Irish that you brought here and have taxed the shit out of them ever since. Now the Queen wants a carbon tax even if the rest of the world rejects it get fucked this is now becoming taxation without representation.

Would you die for the queen if it meant the death of an Australian?

would you wipe your arse with the union jack to save an Australian? ( fuck i would with out thinking twice)

  • @gbambino You know thats so right. They figure they can get a simple referendum on a ballot, round up all the rabid hippies, wiccans, and other nutters with inferiority complexes to push a 51% result. Changing the constitution of a country requires more than that.

  • Im British and I want a republic good on you aussies show that upper class old lady the boot.

  • God save the Queen.

  • @RaymondDundas god save your mum

  • And the Queen :)

  • Australia for republic....let's shit kick these fucking brits....useless fucking people!

  • What a sensible argument, Mr Rudd must be so proud. I await what will doubtless be a witty and erudite reply with great interest.

  • long live the republic

  • When the g20 no one was really around to listen to rudd and when Howard was in power no one on a global scale even new his name Bush even missed pronounced his name along with the sumit we were holding that the state of N.S.W decided to police and shut down our city of sydney for and lock people up for crossing the road. LONG TERM POWER CORRUPTS ABSOLUTE POWER CORRUPTS ABSOLUTELTY. That is why we need a change. but you change to much GONE! just like Gough. Change is always good in politics.

  • Does this guy have a stick up his arse or what. Does he not get that governour general can piss off our prime minister. Envy of the world my arse were not even in the g8 and to start with im getting sick of old poof pom lovers like this having there say and pretty much denying the youth of the nation there FUKIN right to a referendum. He wishes he was british when really his family in way or another is related to a convict and maybe an irish aylum along the way.

  • The is not 79. She is 83!

  • You tool, this was back in March 2006.

  • CALM DOWN!

    In never knew that!

  • I'm glad Jess Rowe got chucked of the show.

  • Wow.......look at the people in this video.....this issue is more of a demographic one than anything else. Word of advise to Australia...wait until the queen passes away and then hold another vote.

  • Aussies have the guts to stand up against the brits unlike stupid useless canadians lol

  • Yes, Canadians are what we would call in Australia "Gutless Wonders" LOL.....

  • Aussies want the queen? The queen won in the last referendum?

  • FTQ up the aussie republicans

  • yeah becasue the british ooze culture

  • You poms are always saying we have no culture anyway so we've got nothing to lose.

  • rctsos -How?An item on the news yesterday revealed that 75% of Australians don't want to belong to the Commonwealth. I was surprised that it is that high!I can't see how we'll lose 'more' cultural identity. We don't have one as such, except for the aboriginal culture, which I love!I watch programs like Message Stick etc to learn as much as I can!I have enormous respect for it!

  • Amunication -I'mold enough to remember the sacking of the Whitlam govt. That only reinforced my pro-republican stance. We can do many things at the same time-a Treaty with indigenous people; a new Constitution that suits our times, not 1901, a place in it for immigrants, and emphasis on women too!Have you read the Constitution?I haven't!I do know what it DOESN'T HAVE!

  • The speaker in the middle is correct.

  • The man is a liar.

Australia's constitution would have little change. Everything would remain other than the Queen and Governor General being removed from the constitution and being replaced by an Australian president.

  • BroncoLion-I'd like the Constitution to be re-written like the people of Venezuela did. They had community meetings etc, then the end product was published and discussed, then there was a referendum to see if the people wanted it - they did, in huge numbers. That's real democracy! The people decide!
