I just bought the same camera and posted up to youtube. I dont get the same quality (Sharpness) when I click the "HD" icon on my video. your video is much sharper and clearer than mine. do you know why?thanks
I had just bought this camera, how do you playback on your PC,which software do you use and which card do you use in the camera. My HD clip looks crappy
Option 1: Use mediaplayerclassic included in Combined Community Codec Pack (google : cccp)
Option 2: Use quicktime lite and picasa (google : qt lite) (google : picasa 3)
Option 3: Use XBMC (google : xbmc)
Let me know if you have any trouble using above options. I know it's possible to achieve perfect playback with any of them. I use them all for different situations.
No it's not, on the computer it's fine. The blur, smaller resolution and the frame drops when pressing the HD button is a youtube/conversion/bandwidth/client problem. The original file size of this specific clip is 366MB while the best youtube version you can watch when pressing the HD button below the window is if downloaded just 35MB.
I bought the exactly same card, my camera has not arrive yet so I haven't test it.
The point of all this, is that when I watch test videos of the 990, some of them looks very nice, completely fluent. But this video is not that case. I'm not sure if is for my browser or what. Looks like some drop on the fps.
Don't you worry! It's a youtube/conversion/bandwidth/client problem. I can assure you that all the original videos are completely fluid. This specific card is way faster than you even need to record the videos. I have already recorded lots of videos and also tried with slower cards and all of them are playing along smoothly at 30 fps offline. The camera records 720p video in a bitrate of 23,2 mbits/sec which is around 2,9 megabytes/sec and the card can handle 9 megabytes/sec.
lovely baby makes me smile

which camera do you think is better for everything............ a Canon Powershot SD970 IS or a Canon Powershot SD990 IS?
jakub426 2 years ago
Personally I need 720p video, so I would choose a Canon Powershot SD970 IS.

I think so to, and its not that expensive........kind of, i agree with you and the "need" for 720p videos it kills to see a video in low quality

Great Quality !!

Is this the highest quality? The image is blurred and very highly compressed. Is that how it looks on the computer too?

Which kind of SD card are you using and which is the transfer speed?

I am using a 16 GB Sandisk Ultra II SDHC card. I think the transfer speed is 15mb/sec read and 9mb/sec write.

Actually the bitrate seems to vary a bit.. But it's always around 24mbits/sec (3mb/sec)...
