I adore Eddie. Labour! Labour! Labour! Freedom, Equality and Fairness! A Britain where people are working together and actually give a damn about each other.
Shame i live in a Tory safe seat in the south, if any of you guys live in a seat where labour stand half a chance of getting in next election, i urge you to vote for them and raise awareness about them! :)
The Liberal Democrats will play a positive role in milking down worst Tory policies. But the curious thing in British politics is that the liberal/left vote is split. As soon as Labour have sorted themselves out and come back with a new leader, I will start voting for them again. We'd all be better off if the Lib Dems just merged with Labour (never going to happen).
@tomsega Dream on.. Right now some people have an immature view of LibServatism being this great new center party that will walk hand in hand into the sunset. Truth is that Clegg will become a Tory until the newspapers break him for being a crossfloorer. i Cant imagine Vince Cable allowing himself to be labled as a Traitor. I give it 18 months max. Another general election late next year
My first vote went to labour in 1997. I am somewhat sympathetic to labour values but i'm not voting for them again, i feel the New Labour project has lost it's way.
As it stands, Labour have supported the NHS and have been good at helping disadvantaged niches in society. But i think they have let down the poor mainstream of society. The class of impoverished workers, who struggle to pay rising bills, rising rents, rising council tax.
Eddie's right Britain is brilliant, even if most people don't realise and and seek alternative government to make the imporvmanets they think are needed, it's the people who make the country great and labour is clearly the only party who is for the people.
Buy your David Cameron, Boris Johnson,George Osbourne etc Bullingdon club photo t-shirts from that well known newspaper that published that David Cameron bully boy photo. If ONLY!? Dreams are made of this.LOL
Gordon Brown who is the son of a church minister.David Cameron the son of a stockbroker And Nick Clegg the son of banker. Which of the three have the wellbeing of the less well off majority in his heart? Only Gordon Brown. GOD BLESS HIM! The new caring Labour leader will blow these two new leaders at the helm trying to steer in two different directions clean out of the water!
@kawasafs1e Yes but the media which is 99% right wing crucified him! I am so angry! They followed him around and hounded him, trying to catch him out, watching and twisting the motive of his every word and move to suit their own aganda. It was a painful and gruelling campaign for Mr Brown and this was clearly displayed by his grey and sallow tired appearance at his election result at Kirkcaldy.
We have seen the biggest bank (wealth) robbery in history.A blatant inside job perpetrated by the bankers and their backers the billionaire Lord Ashcrofts of this world resulting in the credit crunch and hoarding of vast wealth as seen in the World Wealth Reports 2007 and 2009.The bankers and billionaires have the son of a stockbroker and son of a banker at the helm in number 10 Downing street. Scared? We should be!
Just wanna say... everyone absolutely terrified about the threat that the Conservatives pose, which, while I agree it IS a threat, it is not as large as that posed by the BNP. Please do whatever you can to combat and crush this party. They received approx 550,000 votes this election, lets not see that increase!
@AppleOfDischord You can only ignore them. People have to stop protesting against them and posting messages like you just did. Don't advertise them and don't leave people free to sympathise and rise up along with them. Just ignore, ignore, ignore. They'll soon go away.
This is essential viewing and should be hotwired into every voter's brain.....and i have discovered it only by chance. 'Thatcher's children' amnesia has already caused mass demolition of hope, decency and respect in this country....not to mention that non-existent THAING, according to the vile Thatcher, 'S-O-C-I-E-T-Y'. Want to find the source of all that CON-man Dave says is amiss?.....1979 is the answer, followed by 18 years of factious, specious, inhumanity.
How do these boarding school boys and girls who vote tory defend their corner when a huge majority are part of the 10% of the population with over 90% of the wealth. With millions of kids living in poverty. The answer is with their wealth and influence the ultra rich as in the World Wealth Report 2009.Keep the negative media spotlight off themselves as to what they are upto.A huge majority of tory voters would not be effected by a fair redistribution of wealth.Crazy? Vote Labour!
We have a Irish right hand goverment which are adding more taxes to pay off the bankers and developers at same time bankers are getting hikes in there pensions and the developers are gone on holidays to Spain.
Even my kids are going to be paying extra taxes and there kids to clean up financial mess.
Excellent video! Let us not forget: the Conservatives are the party of the few, Labour is the party of the many. They arn't perfect, but they're a darn sight better than the self-interested Tories!!
It's really scary that in a few hours the Conservatives are going to run down our public services to the worst in Europe if they win, and all the media is being run by the pro Murdoch propaganda - Sky News, ITV, The Sun News of the World, The Times, to name a few. Vote for anything but the Conservatives if you really want a change. There's no point in changing for the worse.
Before you vote ask yourselves where is all the money? A vast amount of wealth is being hoarded by the ultra wealthy as the World Wealth report 2009 shows. Will David Cameron funded by a billionaire redistribute a fair amount of this wealth? Not in 33,000,000,000,000(thirty three thousand billion) years! Inexperienced Nick Clegg ? No! Only Gordon Brown Has the guts and Personality to sort out the bankers and billionaires.
just because a minority tarnish the reputation of britain, does not make britain broken. there will always be an endemic level of crime or corruption, and neither the cinservatives, lib dems or labour are ever going to recitfy that. besides this, None of the political parties could have done any better than labour in face of the current financial crisis, despite what clegg and cameron claim. a fairer britian from the conservatives? unlikey. vote labour.
When it comes to facial expressions.Did everyone take note of Gordon Brown's steely expression while talking to Jeremy Paxman about the bankers.I have not noted much emotion on the faces of David Cameron and Nick Clegg.A case of keeping their cards close to their chest
We know how we got to this situation.Which politician is more likely to see the solution as opening the floodgates on the billionaires accumulated wealth to ease our financial woes.David Cameron who is funded by a billionaire? You must be joking! Inexperienced Nick Clegg? No! Gordon Brown tackling the bankers and billionaires. What a delicious thought.
I may have to vote LD to keep the Tories out, but ideally would vote Labour. I agree with what Eddie says, the Tories are awful, all for the rich - hence their inheritance tax policy.
I hate seeing people so divided over politics... bashing the Conservatives, or Labour, or whatever party, simply causes anger. Cooperation is the way forward.
Broken Britain? How dare Cameron make such a sweeping judgement, I can't think of a political leader more out of touch with the average man than Cameron. Maybe if he came down from his toffee nosed ivory tower he might realise that Britain is far from broken.
How does David Cameron say It is time for change so convincingly. What we should all understand is he does not mean a change for the better. He means a change for the worst..
We have all been in a real world game of Monopoly Where the banker and the rich few have been manipulating the rules grossly in their favour even though they have the huge advantage of as the saying goes,"Money Makes Money".They create a boom.Hoover up vast wealth as the world wealth report 2009 attests to and leave the great majority of the less well off to pick up the pieces. We have found the smoking gun in the world wealth report 2009!

How can anyone vote conservatives? It is unbelievable that all these working class people vote tory. They are complete idiots, i'll always be labour. Eddie would be a much more popular leader than Brown though!
He's right and a return toThatcherism would be a disaster! I'm voting Labour to stop that happening again. 3 million unemployed beggars on the street riots civil unrest the worshiping of money and selling off the countrys assests, the sleaze the selfish greed is good society. Labour really should be putting out negative Ad campaigns to remind people what it was really like in the Thatcher era.
Which of the three parties are most likely to work for a society fair for all with a realistic chance of being re elected. The Labour party is the only logical answer.
When you see Gordon Brown and the ministers outside number ten annoucing the date of the election you realize how little you have seen and heard from the opposing Conservative party team.A certain B********n C**b photograph springs to mind.
I have had comments removed from webcameronuk. david cameron rallies staff and supporters as election 2010 is announced.I mentioned the world wealth report 2009.6.2 million high net worth individuals excluding their primary resdences with a combined wealth of $33,000,000,000,000.thirty three thousand billion dollars.
well said eddie. dont take cameron at face value. behind that cute, pamered, baby-face is a traditional tory. cameron will only widen the gap between rich and poor. vote labour/lib dems !
What about Churchill? He was brilliant. Anyway, I find it quite disheartening when parties get celebrities to promote and try and sway the votes because I think people should make up their own minds.
@bobisretro No he wasn't, he was an ok prime minister, he was anti semitic, he was stuck in to take the heat off chamberlainn (if you're looking for popular consensuses try bringing him up), he wasn't voted in at the time and was just a decent figure head / leading figure and happened to be there when the war happened and after he lost an election in '45 and got back in '50 he went on to provoke Russia and widen the divide in the cold war. In effect, he was just OK.
@bobisretro Political parties use celebrities because those celebrities themselves believe in that party, and that celebrity has an enthusiastic voice and means of communicating. Of course people should make up their own minds! That goes without saying anyone who chooses who to vote for on the basis of which party a celebrity is supporting is a very sad individual.
Eddie Izzard isn't going to sway the result one way or another, so in this instance I wouldn't be too concerned.
i really agree with him!! I am sick of tired of cameron bashing on about 'broken britain', britiain is bloody brilliant!!! maybe people need to start to look at how amazing this country is, instead of slagging it off. Conservatives will drag this country down if they get into power just like they did in the 80's. VOTE LABOUR!!! l
OK, I'm Conservative. Don't bash about now. I respect Izzard's views. But WTF, Conservatives who see Thatcher as an icon. Please, that was a joke right?
I see comments about the Lib Dems not being too bad and.... I've seen how they work up close, trying to privatise social care in my city and prevent a hospital being built and the in fighting and two faced thing, and heard similar tales country wide. They may have nice people as members, even some MPs and Cllrs, but don't trust the party. Clegg too is a fan of Thatcher, and has said as much.
I'm just glad he said that he would only tell us his views, and wouldn't force us to vote one way or another, as a lot of my friends seem to be doing.
Guys, I would never tell people who to vote for but please think about it massively, if you don't want to vote Labour, thats fine, Lib Dems seem like a good party too. As long as its not Conservative or the god forsaken BNP then you can rest assured you haven't condemned the country.
i actually would like the old labour, but why.. whyy.. do you have to rob afghanistan of its oil, support the man made global warming theory want a one world government, if you really loved Britain you would want the best for Britain! not for Obama or anyone else!
I think the Labour party need to be booted out at the next election.
Still, I can't help but be persuaded - it is Eddie Izzard after all...
...Come to think of it - who needs Brown? Put Eddie Izzard in charge! He probably doesn't want to, but that fits well with the Mark Twain qualification for a good leader...
Right on Eddie but I thought you were a Revolutionary liberal?.....
"that sounds better to me, storm the House of Parliament, kick the f*cking doors in, get in there and say, Look, well pay for the damage. Have a revolution, just budget for it, yeah?"
Don't vote Tory - do vote for whoever is most likely to beat the Tories where you live. Cake please.
Great Advert but Im Scottish and I support the SNP, however if I had to choose between the 3 main parties I would probably choose labour or the lib dems.
I'm glad that Labour have got a GOOD representative (Eddy Izzard), whereas the Tories stroll in with bloody Gary Barlow. Although I'm only 14 and can't vote, I still support The Labour Party and I think I'm the only person out of all my friends who haven't been dragged in by Tory propaganda. The billboards around town saying 'how Brown dragged us into the recession' make no point in voting for Tories and, aren't true. Although I don't think that Labour will win, I still support them.
watch "Children of Men" then watch this, its feckin terrifying. "we love our country.....thats why we believe in a brighter future.... " well, the future's bright, THE FUTURE'S ORANGE, MATE. he who controls the present, controls the past. he who controls the past, controls the future. why did they re-upgrade this stuff to class B, HAPPY 420 EVERYONNE!!!!!!! :bong:
I love Eddie but i think that was more a "don't vote tory" than a "vote labour" ad. It struck me that he was saying vote labour so the tories don't win rather than pointing out what labour WILL do if they get into power - perhaps because secretly he doesn't like all their ideas and proposals and is saying vote for the lesser of two evils?
I also take offence at the torys calling Britain 'broken', and i have 2 things to say in return. Was it not broken under Thatcher and that clown John Major? And, to these upper class tory millionaires like david and Lord Ashcroft, anywhere outside Eton may well seem 'broken'.
Don't be fooled by the ''luke-warm, limp-wristed' Lib's, they will spend half of the time sitting on the fence and the rest of the time picking the splinters out of their arse.
Well done. They are thatchers children. I remember being a chilld in society created by the tories. A decade of labour government could never have fix the termendous damage done by the tories. Don't even imagine that the tories have changed.
Vote Cameron get, Thatcher, you say?? Vote Cameron, get Blair, morelike. Bored, Bored, Bored, Bored. BORED. C'mon Eddie. This is piss-poor rhetoric. Stick to what you're good at - cake and jam.
Good on you Eddie. Cake or death: Prosperity shared vs. a rehash of the 80s trashing of the north to allow the rich in the south to have a second home. The tories might look like sheep now, but if they get power you'll see the fleeces come off, unnecessarily vicious cuts and the return of mass unemployment. Hopefully people who remember the early 80s can tell those too young that many did, in effect, slit their own throats by voting for Thatcher.
Noooooooooooooo Eddie! I don't want politicians doing stand up and I don't want stand ups doing politics, unless they're taking the piss. This kind of campaigning is turning 'Brilliant Britain' into America.
what the labour party advertisers should do is just cut the end part where he says brilliant britain and that he is voting for labour and get on tape lots of other celebrities saying that as well and then finally going to the david tennant bit, there advert made!
Eddie's something of a hero of mine but it seems to me that he's always been too much of a blind optimist politically, and that he's looked at Labour through slightly rose-tinted goggles since he joined. In some parallel universe, Eddie is a Liberal Democrat and all is right with the world.
Well said. Like others, I'm not a huge fan of some of the things Labour have done over the last couple of years, but they're a damn sight better than anything the Tories will come up with.
says it like it is, glad to see there are respected public figures who have chosen not to jump onto the 'Gordon Brown messed everything up' bandwagon :) i'd vote labour over tory any day, though nick clegg did come across incedibly well in debate a few days ago.
Labout brought in eddie izzard as a running mate, a person with experiance, with years of research for stand ups etc. eddie knows what he is talking about
the torys brought in......gary barlow................
I adore Eddie. Labour! Labour! Labour! Freedom, Equality and Fairness! A Britain where people are working together and actually give a damn about each other.

What about Churchill? He was brilliant. Anyway, I find it quite disheartening when parties get celebrities to promote and try and sway the votes because I think people should make up their own minds.
bobisretro 1 year ago
@bobisretro No he wasn't, he was an ok prime minister, he was anti semitic, he was stuck in to take the heat off chamberlainn (if you're looking for popular consensuses try bringing him up), he wasn't voted in at the time and was just a decent figure head / leading figure and happened to be there when the war happened and after he lost an election in '45 and got back in '50 he went on to provoke Russia and widen the divide in the cold war. In effect, he was just OK.
dootmc 1 year ago

VOTE LABOUR!!! l

NethDugan 1 year ago
I'm just glad he said that he would only tell us his views, and wouldn't force us to vote one way or another, as a lot of my friends seem to be doing.

Great work Eddie! So true.
Guys, I would never tell people who to vote for but please think about it massively, if you don't want to vote Labour, thats fine, Lib Dems seem like a good party too. As long as its not Conservative or the god forsaken BNP then you can rest assured you haven't condemned the country.

@zaazi123 Same, only voted them because its was a two horse race in my area :(
manicracoon 1 year ago
@spamvicious You may want to revise your recommendation for the Lib Dems.
The clue for next time is what they do in local Govt. no different to the Tories, fact that they have never had power means they can seem cool.
Now they have power.. same as the Tories, worse in many ways as they sold people a stinking betrayal.
They are letting the Tories do to GPs & the NHS what Thatcher did to dentistry.
It is sheer criminal damage IMO. People did not vote for Tory ideological crap.

An excellent campaign video for undermining the Tories, but unfortunately there is little real argument for another Labour government, only rhetoric.

Christopher9867 1 year ago
Perfect and to the point...
Don't be fooled by the ''luke-warm, limp-wristed' Lib's, they will spend half of the time sitting on the fence and the rest of the time picking the splinters out of their arse.

"It's Thatcher! Be afraid, be very afraid!!" Gordon Brown wasn't so afraid when he was welcoming her back into No. 10, was he Eddie?
Alexian5 1 year ago
Good on you Eddie. Cake or death: Prosperity shared vs. a rehash of the 80s trashing of the north to allow the rich in the south to have a second home. The tories might look like sheep now, but if they get power you'll see the fleeces come off, unnecessarily vicious cuts and the return of mass unemployment. Hopefully people who remember the early 80s can tell those too young that many did, in effect, slit their own throats by voting for Thatcher.
jmmorris9913 1 year ago
Noooooooooooooo Eddie! I don't want politicians doing stand up and I don't want stand ups doing politics, unless they're taking the piss. This kind of campaigning is turning 'Brilliant Britain' into America.

Eddie's something of a hero of mine but it seems to me that he's always been too much of a blind optimist politically, and that he's looked at Labour through slightly rose-tinted goggles since he joined. In some parallel universe, Eddie is a Liberal Democrat and all is right with the world.
