    if our parents make us take Chinese school. Which they have to pay out of their own pockets.

    Most likely with many TC people in the US its an extinct language which almost no one knows. They learn to speak one of the mainstream languages instead of TC.

  • Wow - I love this compilation. You get such a nice feeling of family and togetherness.

    I wish I knew something about the culture, though. :/

  • Before I went to this event, I whined about how much I didn't want to go b.c I thought it was going to be boring.

    But it was actually really fun and I met people from different countries. We share stories about our childhood, parents/family, and culture. It was all really touching and inspiring.

    Most people of this ethnicity are mixed or had (grand)parents who migrated to a Southeast Asian country, then to the US, UK (France), or Australia.
