  • Sucks

  • ALBANIAN 4ever I'm proud to be ALBANIAN

  • My country Sweden will play against you at the Qemal Stafa stadium on the 6th september this year in the world cup 2010 qualifications (: I think it will be a hard game for us....

    Good luck

  • im afraid that sweden might need the luck, true they are a very strong team especially in the air, but their squad is aging, and with the international retirements after Euro 2008, i don't know how you guys will cope, since the game is less than 2 months away, and it's the opening game for both sides, and recently we have shown spectacular form at home in the opening matches, let's not forget Greece in 2004, but in a show of sportsmanship i say may the best team win.

  • Yea I'm also afraid of that, well we have some younger talents but our coach hasn't dared to use any of them..which he'll probably have to do now. And I also know you are a very strong team at home, better teams than us have had problems there..that's why I think it will be a tough game. Many people here say you are a team we should beat, but I know how good you usually are in Tirana..so I wouldn't be that mad if we only got a draw or something. Yea may the best team win, suksese to you (:

  • hey you speak Albanian. You are right though, Lagerback is a clever coach but he hasn't used his new talents well. For example at the Euros, he used Alexandersson instead of Sebastian Larsson on the right wing. And after Wilhelmsson's injury he used Elmander on the wing, not his natural position. But nonetheless, I still think Sweden are the superior team and rightful favorites, particularly in the physical aspect of the game.

  • I know a little, cause I have some online friends that have taught me some.

Yea exactly, he should have used Sebastian Larsson when Wilhelmsson got injured cause he is more familiar with that place than Elmander..Wilhelmsson was quite good when he played so it was bad that he got injured, but Larsson would have been a good replacement. and I also think he should have used Fredrik Stoor except of Alexandersson in the defence, but he didn't do that until Alexandersson was injured. Now though,

  • when Alexandersson,Ljungberg and Allbäck have quit in the national team, our coach will have to play with Sebastian Larsson and Fredrik Stoor. I also think Kim Källström should be on the midfield and I don't think Henrik Larsson should play from the start anymore, he is a swedish football legend but he has had his best days a long time ago, he's old now.

And yea, the styles of play will probably be very different, I am looking forward to it..too bad I can't go down there to watch it :/

  • and yea, let's hope for a very good game with many goals.

Taksumike= Tack så mycket, but that's no problem, it's not that easy to know :P

    s'ka për së!

  • I know what you mean about not being able to go there and watch it, especially since it's a home game for us, but nonetheless, going to the Qemal Stafa Stadium, as an opponent or opposing fans can be quite intimidating, i guess that's why we fare so much better at home games. And if you do plan to go there, and this is just friendly heads up, either you hope Sweden get a draw or loses, because if they win especially in dramatic fashion, like at the death, then things could get sticky forSverige

  • Yea, I suppose so. I don't know how your home support is, but maybe that's true.

But well I won't be able to go anyway..if I was old enough to live by myself and have my own economy then I maybe would have gone, but I won't be living by myself yet in some years.

At least Sweden and Albania aren't enemies, I don't want to know how it would have been if we were. :P

Maybe I could try to get to watch our home game against you, but Stockholm or Gothenburg are far from my hometown. So probably wont

  • yeah, at least our countries aren't enemies, like greece and Albania, Man you should have seen that game on September 4th, 2004, two months to the day that Greece beat Portugal in Euro 2004, and our fans had banners like "This Is Not Portugal" to intimidate the Greeks, and it worked by the 11th minute greece was down 2-0, even though they pulled a goal back we still managed to hold on and create a shock around Europe. The headlines on sports newspapers were astounding.

  • Yea. Ah ok I see.

Yea I guess many teams raise their game when playing against their worst rivals and everyone does their best.

Well, yea I suppose you would have a better chance to qualify if you play like that all the time. You would also need to take more points away, not only at home. Then you would probably get a better place in the qualifications. It will be hard for you this time, though..Portugal, Sweden and Denmark are not bad teams. But I hope you can qualify some day.

  • thanks i'm hoping too, but i would rather have Sweden, Denmark And Portugal in my group rather than France, Romania, and Serbia, or Croatia, Ukraine and Belarus. Those types of teams are brutal, and it's never pretty with those teams, at least with the teams that we have now it's going to be entertaining football, full of fair play as well, the Scandinavian teams tend to use fair play a lot. And also Nordic teams, and Portugal as well tend to struggle againat teams like Albania.

  • The headlines read like, greek gods brought down to earth by Brave Albania. If we only played every game like we did against greece we would probably qualify for a major tournament. Unfortunately games against our Balkan Neighbors are motivated by deep rooted hatred and past conflicts, thus when we play our neighbors, we excel because of that motivation, if we put the same kind of mentality against other teams then i couldn't see a reason for us not to qualify. alas, we haven't reached thatstage

  • Thank god we didn't get any Eastern European teams, they really mess up your game. I remember, the Euro Quailifiaction for 2004, and we had Swiss, Ireland Russia and Georgia, and the some of the best football we played against the swiss and Ireland, i would much rather have western European teams, than eastern European. You might look at this group and say it's hard for Albania, and i agree, but at least will be very entertaining, besides we got Hungary and Malta to pick points off.

  • Yea the teams from the East can often make big surprises, so I don't want that many easter european teams in my group either. And yea I think you will finish at least before Hungary and Malta and that you will surprise against some other teams too. Let's see how far you can get with that. And yea, I wish for Sweden to win the group and then either Denmark or Albania as second team. Yea Sven is a good manager. My favourite club here in Sweden is Kalmar FF cause I am from that area of Sweden.

  • and my favourite player right now is probably Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrik Larsson too though he is not as good as he once was, but he is definately a swedish legend, one of our best players ever.

By the way who are the best players in the Albanian national team? I don't think I know any of your players really..I think I have heard about one or two playing in the italian league but I don't know the name of him/them. And what is the best team from your league and who do you support there?

  • The best players we have now are Lorik Cana that plays for Olympique Marseilles, Igli Tare at Lazio, Erjon Bogdani at Livorno, and we have a lot of players like 5 or 6 that play in he Vycsha League in Ukraine and Ervin Skela at Cottbus in Germany. Most of our players either play in Germany, Greece, Italy, or Turkey. Some of the best known Players we had in the past are Pnajot Pano, the best ever, Altin Rraklli, Alban Bushi, and the best known outside Albania is Rudi Vata, he played with CelticFC

  • Ah ok, faleminderit (:

I recognize the name Igli Tare, the others I can't remember I have heard of.

Faleminderit for the facts about the clubs and your national team, I didn't know anything of that.

Yea Sweden had a really good team in the 50's, with a bronze in world cup 1950 and a silver at home in the world cup 1958. Also in the early 90's we has a great team, semifinal in the euro cup at home 1992 and especially the bronze in the US 1994. Those generations were probably the best we've had

  • The best team in Albania is KF Tirana, the most successful club with 23 championships, i support them because i come from that city and since i was little my support has been with them. There are other teams from the capital like Partizani Tirane, and Dinamo Tirane, but they have only won 15 and 10 titles respectively. KS Vllaznia Shkoder in the north is another sucessful club with 9 titles.

  • The most successful Albanian club in Europe has been Flamurtari Vlore, who came close to knocking F.C. Barcelona out in the UEFA CUP back in 1987, we lost on away goals with both games ending in draws. The next year we met Barcelona again this time in the quarterfinals of the UEFA CUP, our best showing, after we had beat Partizan Belgrade, and Wismut Aue of GDR. we lost away 4-1, and won at home 1-0.

  • Albania hasn't won any major Tournaments, we won the Balkan Cup back in 1946, and the Rothmans International Tournament in Malta back in 2000, that's all our silverware on the international front. We almost qualified for the Euro 1964, but lost out to Denmark in qualifying. We beat the mat home, thanks to a Panajot Pano goal in the first minute, but lost in Copenhagen 4-0, if we had held out then Albania would have qualified for the European Championships.

  • We also almost qualified for the 1986 world cup. We beat Belgium at home 2-0, and drew with Poland away 2-2, even though we were up 1-2 with seconds remaining. We also drew with Greece at home 1-1. If we had won in Poland, and kept the greeks at bay we would have qualified for Mexico 86'. I doubt our team would have been able to go, even if they qualified. The communist regime wouldn't let them travel so far, most would defect. Mexico is close to USA, our greatest "enemy" at the time.

  • Sweden, on the other hand have had quite the success in the international arena. Third place in the world cup twice, and runners up in 58. Probably the most successful Scandinavian team, although Denmark won Euro 92, pretty much a fluke, i thought Sweden deserved that title. nonetheless, you guys pretty much made up for that dissapointment two years later at USA 94'. i'd have to say Sweden and Nigeria were the most entertaining teams in World Cup 94. My favorite game was Sweden 4-0 Bulgaria.

  • Swedish clubs have done well too, particularly IFK Goteborg. If i remember correct it was Sven-Goran Eriksson who brought the first European club trophy in Sweden. Goteborg won the UEFA Cup in 1982 by beating Hamburg 4-0 on aggregate.

  • yea, Göteborg is the most successful swedish club both in the swedish league and in europe. I think they were the only team from Sweden to win the UEFA Cup and I think they also reached the quarterfinals in the Champions League once. But that was qute a long time ago we had any team that good here in sweden. I think the last time a swedish team qualified for the champions league now was in 1999. The economy of the swedish clubs are not good enough to buy any big star players.

  • yeah i know recently Swedish clubs haven't done that well, the mid 90's was their decline, but sometimes i see the UEFA coefficients, and i'm surprised to see that clubs from countries like Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria, and even Slovakia have higher coefficients than Swedish clubs. I don't think that clubs from those countries have better football than Swedish clubs. Because i think the Swedish national team is better than those mentioned.

  • Well yea....We are not really better than Turkey and Romania, we are probably quite close with them. And yea it's true, the best Swedish players will always leave Sweden to get to a bigger club where they make more money and have a chance of winning something bigger than the Swedish league. For example a player called Viktor Elm from my favourite swedish team will probably go to Dutch club Heerenveen after the season. But yea it's true we should dare to use our younger, talented players more.

  • But i think the problem is that Sweden isn't exploiting homegrown talent, and most of the Swedish stars are heading of abroad, like Ibra, Larsson, Allback, Alexnadersson. And when you see the recent Swedish clubs you see a lot of foreign players from Congo, and South America. If Sweden nurtured their Swedish players, rather than seeking foreigners i think that both the league and the national team would benefit.

  • Same thing with us, we have probably one of the weakest leagues in Europe Why? because the stars i mentioned before all play their trade in prestigious leagues, and all were left with in the Albanian clubs are all the rejects, Albanian and foreign. In England, the reverse is true, their league is the strongest, but their national team is suffering as a result of too many foreign stars in their league.

  • And yea that about the "English" league (if you can call it english, not so many englishmen there) is definately true. Their league is probably the strongest looking at the results of their teams in the champions league, but that's cause they have so many foreign stars there which makes no room for many English talented players which affects their national team in a bad way. Spain might not have the no1 league, but their national team is better cause most of their players play in their own.

  • very true, and i'm not surprised that the swedish player is going to Heerenveen, a lot of Scandinavian players have made their way to that club. As far as Romania and Turkey go, i'd put my money on sweden if they ever had to play against Turkey or Romania. But Sweden is definetly better than Bulgaria at least.

  • Yea that's true, many players from here have played for Heerenveen. And yea Bulgaria we are better than, Romania maybe but they got a draw against both France and Italy in the Euro. Though France and Italy were not good in this tournament, and well Italy should have won against Romania. And against France they got 0-0 after a good defense in maybe the most boring game in the whole Euro. Turkey impressed in the Euro, played with much passion and never gave up. One of the teams I liked most in EC08

  • I liked Turkey as well, and probably the team who deserved to win the Euro, more than Spain maybe, because of all their injuries and suspensions, not to mention how many times they came back when they were down. And the game between France and Romania was the most boring game i have ever watched in my life, Romania were going for a draw, but France were completely unimaginative, actually both teams were, you could actually tell what their moves were going to be before they made them.

  • Yea.Many of Turkey's games were the most memorable from this tournament, how they turned around 0-2 to win 3-2 against Czech Republic in the last 15 minutes, how they tied he game up against Croatia in the last second of the game, how they actually played better than Germany with many of their best players away.Spain were worthy winners too though, they played good in all of their games. The was Holland played in the group they would have been worth to win too.yea, hard to find a more boring game

  • And i don't think Sweden were as bad as the Swedish press made them to be. They beat Greece, and were unlucky against Spain, true the Russians dominated them in the last game, but you must take in consideration that Russian had the youngest team at the tournament with the average age of 26.4 and Sweden had the oldest squad with the average age of 29.8. By the third game they had simply run out of gas, the likes of Larsson, Alexandersson, and Allback, Svensson, were too old to play the full 90.

  • Yea well, they got critized for not using a younger team. We had the oldest one in the whole tournament. And yea we were so close to a draw against Spain, but that wouldn't have mattered since we still lost against Russia. And well, Greece was the worst team of the whole tournament....the only team with 0 points. But yea,you knew before that that was going to be a tough group. And Russia has Guus Hiddink, maybe the world's best coach, or at least one of them. He was a big reason for their success.

  • True Hiddink was Russian cause of success, but, i think that if Sweden had drawn against Spain the would have eliminated Russia, anyways, Spain were worthy winners, since they didn't lose a single match, but Turkey probably would have beaten them if they had made it to the final, and probably in dramatic fashion. But you're right it was Turkey's games that were the most memorable, especially the Croatia game, without a doubt the most entertaining team of the tournament, similar to 2002 Turkey.

  • Well, if Sweden would have drawn Spain, Russia would still have gone through after beating us. But maybe we would have got better self-confidence so that we could have played better. Yea I agree. I don't know if Turkey would have beaten them, cause they lost 2-0 against Portugal which play quite similar to Spain, except that Spain are a bit better, but well Turkey got better later so..And yea, Turkey-Czech Republic and Turkey-Croatia were two of my favourite games definately, so dramatic.

  • Finally we have returned to attacking football, and this tournament definetly showed it. Previous tournaments like Euro 2004 and World Cup 2006 weren't full of attacking football and dramatic wins. The only shock of those two tournaments were the Greeks in Lisbon, and the Germans on home turf. To tell you the truth, didn't have any high expectations for this tournament, especially the way it started, like 5-6 games of one sided victories, until the Turks galvanized every game.

  • Yea. If a few teams play more defensively I don't mind, if it helps them winning that is cause that's what you're supposed to do. But it would be quite boring if too many teams played like that. There were not that many boring games really. There will probably always be some not so fun games in every tournament, but they were not a lot this time. When Sweden plays, I'm almost always too nervous and into the game to notice if the game is fun or not though. :P yea, there were not many shocks 04/06

  • except Greece 2004....Germany 2006 I don't think was a surprise, they usually go far in tournaments and were at home too. Home sides are always strong. In the World Cup 2002 though there were very many shocks :P South Korea with Guus Hiddink and their home advantage made it all the way to the semis, and Turkey took the bronze..Also a great tournament. It was back then when I was 9 turning 10 that I started to like sports so much, before I didn't care, and after that my passion has just grown.

  • 2002 and 2004 this generation of Sweden's national team had their best tournaments, in 2002 we won a group with England Argentina and Nigeria but lost unluckily in spite of being the better team against Senegal in Golden Goal....I remember I even cried after that game (I was very young so..) and 2004 we won a group with Italy, Denmark and Bulgaria and played really well against Holland in the quarters but lost on penalties :( But still, those are great memories. the last two tournaments, we have

  • not been that good though, cause that generation of players were getting older and had already had their best years. So that's why we need to renew the team now, but most people here think that that should have been done already after the WC 2006.

  • very much true, in 2002 you guys were unlucky against Senegal, and if Svensson had converted that shot he hammered against the post, then you guys would definetly beat Turkey in the quarters and at least make the semis. in Euro 2004 again unlucky against Holland. But you could tell that with each tournament the game of the Swedish team was starting to go down, i saw it at 2006, a draw with trinidad and that win over Paraguay was heading like the trinidad game. best game sweden had was v. England

  • Yea we had such great chances both against Senegal and Holland..it still hurts to watch clips from that shot in the post and the goal of Senegal..And yea, Trinidad is a team we just should beat but we didn't get the ball in, they were actually close to 0-0 against England too but England scored two late goals. Our game against Paraguay was ok, the second half against England was good, the Germany game was really bad, ok they are a great team and we had a red card (and the referee laughed at our

  • player when he gave us that card) but still....we played really bad....and this tournament this year was the definate end for this generation. Which probably should have been after the WC though.

  • Yeah the golden generation came at an end at the WC 2006. Teddy Lucic was the player who got sent off, another great defender. I think Sweden should build from the back and try to find replacements for the likes of Mellberg and Hansson. I think their midfield is their strongest point with Svensson probably being able to give another couple of yeas at this level. Ljunghberg's retirement is a blow but you got Kallstrom, Whilhelmsson, Larsson, and Linderoth all good midfielders.

  • Yea I think so too. Mellberg were one of the better this tournament though so maybe he can play one tournament more. But we'll need one or two possible replacements for him though, if he would be worse then. The defense is where we have been strong before, but now it seems like it can become our weakest part. We don't have that many really good replacements except Fredrik Stoor who will replace Alexandersson. On the midfield and in the offence we already have some talented players and Källström

  • and Wilhelmsson for example should also be able to play. Sebastian Larsson should play instead of Ljungberg. And we have some other talents too that haven't really played for us yet. We have offensive talents too, but our offence already has some great players like Zlatan and Elmander. Hopefully Henrik Larsson won't play from the start anymore, he has already has his best days too.

  • you're right, Sweden's strongest point used to be their defense but now with all the players aging and all the retirements, that's got to be Lagerback's main priority. to tell you the truth, Lagerback has been a good coach, but maybe he should step aside like Soderberg did and let someone else take the helm, too bad Sven is taken by Mexico, because he is a very good candidate for the Sweden chair. I'm sensing that the Swedish FA are doing the same thing the French did with Domench, after failure

  • I also think he should leave, over 70% voted for that he should quite as coach in a swedish newspaper website. We need some change so I think he should leave. He has made us qualify for 5 straight big championships, but we haven't done a lot in the tournaments except in the group rounds. Yea, Sven would have been great, but oh well....Unfortunately Lagerbäck had a contract until 2010, and he doesn't seem to want to leave his job. But just to get some change, some new ideas, I think he should.

  • I saw that game when the ref was laughing when he gave the red card. that was one of the worst tournaments, refereeing wise at least it was up there with 2002. Costa Rica got two offside goals agianst germany, the 4 red cards in the portugal-holland game, Rooney being sent off was harsh, i mean there was a lot of bad calls in that tournament. Just like in 2002 when Japan and Korea got all the calls, Korea v.s Spain, Korea v.s. Italy, in those games the refs favored the home nation.

  • Yea, I agree with you. At least that referee got sent home after that. There was also a player, think it was in Croatia against Australia that got two yellow but still didn't get sent of until he got a third one! That referee also got sent home. In the Euro this year I think the refereeing was quite good though, the worst refereeing I can remember was probably Pieter Vink in Sweden-Spain..he missed something that probably should have been a penalty for Spain, he didn't show a single yellow card

  • when the Spanish players protested, and in the second half almost everything went to Spain, free kicks and other stuff. He also missed a possible free kick for us just before their 2-1 goal.

  • LEt's just hope that South Africa 2010, will be a good tournament, i'm slightly concerned how they will get ready, with South Africa currently facing 50 homicides a day. i worry about all the fans and tourists. but they still have 2 years to solve those problems. At least the summer heat won't be a problem, even though it will be summer for us in the north, in South Africa it will be winter, and the average temperature will be 60-70 Fahreinheit, perfect for football.

  • Yea I hope they will be able to fix it up. It's good that Africa has got their first world cup, as long as they can fix it well. I'm really looking forward to the tournament as usual. Hope it will be good.

And yea the temperature should not be that bad, cause it's winter there and well the winter there is not cold as up here, it's should be a perfect temperature. Not too hot, not too cold.

  • i also heard that before Austria and swiss, got this tournament, Sweden and Norway were thinking of hosting, that would have been great, climatically speaking because summers in Scandinavia are usually perfect, especially with mid summer and the northern lights. The climatic concern that i have is Euro 2012, with Poland and Ukraine, because summers there are usually oppresively hot, just as the winters are harsh, i don't know how the players will cope.

  • Yea,Sweden and Norway are thinking about hosting a tournament together some year, don't know if it's 2016 or something. Well, the summers up here are sometimes really hot, sometimes really bad.2006 was a great, very very hot summer here but last year and this year it has been cloudy and rainy. So hopefully it will be a warm summer(not too hot though)if we're ever going to host again. I don't know if it's sure that we will try to become a host or not yet though ok no idea how the summer are there

  • not to mention the Brazil v.s. Belgium game where Belgium dominated Brazil for long periods and had a goal controversially disallowed, if that goal stood Brazil would probably crash out of the tournament. Any ways Euro 2008, at least didn;t have any dubious refereeing decisions, it makes the games much more entertaining. If Sweden or any other nordic country host the Euros then i;m defiently going there to see it.

  • Yea. I don't really remember that Belgium goal though, but I remember there was some doubtful decisions in that world cup too. 2006 also had some.

  • Yeah that's true, Elmander pushed a Spanish forward in the area and they didn't get the penalty. I also think that Ibra's goal against Spain was one of the best, the Svensson lofted free kick and then form the wings it went to Ibra who couldn't miss at that range.

  • Yea. His goal against Greece was one of the best goals of the tournament too, together with Ballacks free kick, Sneijders 4-1 goal against France, Nihat's goal against Czech Republic..And that was also his first goal for Sweden since october 2005. But he is a world class player undoubtedly, which he has showed both in Inter and his other clubs, and in the national team. He also played with problems from an earlier injury in his knee so..that's why he got switched both against Greece and Spain.

  • I also think that Petter Hansson, is an underrated central defender, and when you see his age and how many caps he has it's not that many, maybe because Soderberg and Lagerback prefered Johan Mjallby at the heart of the defense to partner Olof Mellberg.

  • Yea..I think so too. Mjällby quit either after2002 or 2004, don't really remember but think it can have been 2002..and then Petter Hansson got the chance. Which he maybe should have got earlier. I have no idea when Hansson made his debute for Sweden, but still.

  • Listen i'd like to continue this discussion tomorrow because i have to go now, so hopefully tomorrow. Oh, and i have a question, if you could answer it for me, what ever happened to that Swedish striker Jorgen Pettersson, he played with Sweden at Euro 2000, he just simply dissappeared afterwards. P.S. I think Kennet Andersson, could rival Henrik Larsson, Martin Dahlin and Marcus Allback for one of the best strikers Swedish football.

  • Yea sure, we can continue it tomorrow. Natën e mirë.

To be honest I have no idea what happened to him, maybe he got injured or maybe the coaches didn't find him good enough to participate in our team anymore. I will try to find out and tell you later.

And yea Kennet Andersson was also a great forward.

    Yea

  • naten e mire then, see ya tomorrow.

  • hey Kalmar FF are in first place in Sweden. Also if i remember correctly, they used ti have an Albanian player in their team, by the name of Hyseni.

  • Sorry for not replying until now, I have been away.

Yea we are four points before now in the league, and yea it's true that we once had an albanian player called Shpetim Hasani..I think he is from Kosova (not sure though). But he is not left in the team anymore, now he plays in the swedish second league in a team called Degerfors. But he didn't get so much playing time when he was in Kalmar so..and in the team he is playing for now he always gets to play from the start.

  • By the way, Kalmar are going to be playing in the qualification for the Uefa Cup this year, cause last year we finished second in the league and also won the swedish cup. Hopefully we'll be able to qualify to the group stages, last year Swedish team Helsingborg even went through the group stage so it's not impossible. We should go through from the first qualifying round though, cause then we'll play a team from Luxembourg. After that it depends on who will be our opposition.

  • it's no problem man, yeah that was the guys i was talking about, Shpetim Hasani, he scored a couple of goals in the Intertoto Cup a couple of years ago,if i remember correct, it was against Finnish opposition, probably Tampere F.C. You guys should be able to make the second round, the key is not to underestimate teams, even if they are from Luxembourg. Albanians clubs got some not so hard opposition as well, teams from Slovenia and Bosnia, if kepp our cool the we could qualify as well.

  • Hm yea maybe it's true that he did, though I don't really remember it. And yea of course we should never underrestimate anyone, cause then it might not go that well. But normally swedish teams should not have any bigger problems with teams from small countries like Luxembourg, San Marino etc. Those are normally weaker. But we should not underrestimate any other team.Ok,I hope you can qualify then, that doesn't sound too impossible.Don't know how strong those leagues are,but probably not that good.

  • And by the way I saw the video you sent me, actually I have already seen that one, but thanks anyway. You seemed to have had some good opportunities to win that game, when I watched it.

  • tell me about it, by the time Sweden got their equalizer, we should have been at least 3-0 ahead, but that's what happens in football, especially against the small teams, when they don't convert their chances into goals the big teams, even if they are having an off day, get one chance and score, and leave teams like Albania, thinking what if. Also Elfsborg IF got through the second qualifying round of the Intertoto Cup, beating Hibernians of Scotland 4-0 on aggregate.

  • Yea that's true. Wonder what would have happened if you had won instead.

Yea Elfsborg won but the Scottish teams except Celtic and Rangers are not so good so that's not weird. Today Kalmar FF beat the league's worst team right now IFK Norrköping away 1-3 after leading 0-3 in half time. We are 7 points before now but with one game more played than most of the teams. Our next game is at thursday against the Luxembourgian team.Yesterday Göteborg beat Djurgården away 1-2 but with a little luck.

  • Goteborg play SS Muarata from San Marion today in the Champions League First Qualifying round, i don't think they will have any trouble getting through, oh and two more days until Kalmar FF get their European Journey underway, best of luck, even though the team from Luxembourg will need it far more than you guys. you were right about the Scottish teams, only Rangers and Celtic are good enough to make a name in Europe.

  • Yea, they didn't have any problems either, won 0-5. Yea they play today at 19.30. Swedish time, which I suspect is 20:30 there..if I'm not wrong. I think we should win, maybe not with 0-5 as Göteborg but I think we should and will win.

  • Kalmar FF won 0-3!

We should not in anyway be able to drop this at home. We won as expected.

Though another Swedish team, Djurgården from Stockholm, only got 0-0 at home against an estonian team called Flora or something like that. But they are not good this season so..and I don't really care about them.

Btw I saw that an albanian team called Vllaznia was leading 0-2 against another team (: Maybe Kalmar can play them in the next round haha. Though that would be a tough game for us probably.

  • especially if your clubs are as home-strong as your national team..but honestly I have no idea how strong your teams are. But eastern european teams can be very tough to play against.

  • yeah Vllaznia won away to a Slovenian team 1-2, we shouldn't have conceded that late goal, but nonetheless we got 2 away goals and it will make it easier for us in the return leg, but the tie far from over, and all we need to do is concentrate and we're through. I don't think we can play Kalmar in the second round because we only play southern mediterranean teams and you guys play northern teams, but if they were to meet, i'm sure Kalmar would have a tougher time than with the Luxembourg team.

  • Yea. Oh ok, I don't know how the draws works, didn't know that only teams from the same area played against each other. Yea, I'm also sure Vllaznia would be far tougher than the Luxembourgian team. It should tougher too, Albania is a lot better than football than Luxembourg at least.

But I think Vllaznia will go on to the next round after winning yesterday at least, if they can play Kalmar I don't know. But if you win an away game you are always very close to qualifying.

  • true you are very close to qualifying if you win an away game, especially if you score 2 away goals. I wish it was different, that teams from the North could at least play teams in central Europe, i'm pretty sure that Kalmar or Djurgardens could beat teams from Hungary or teams from the caucus like teams from Armenia or Azerbaijan. But i guess ti's this way to prevent all that traveling and so the players wouldn't be so tired. true we have a better soccer level than Luxembourg.

  • Yea. I remember that Swedish team Elfsborg played against a Hungarian team Debrecen in the Champions League qualifiers last year though and won, but maybe the rules in CL qualifications aren't the same as in the Uefa cup. Yea, Luxembourg is one of the worst football teams in Europe except maybe Andorra, San Marino....And yea it depends on who we will be drawn against if we can go through the second round or not, same for Vllaznia.

  • I hope we won't have to play against Manchester City or something, cause that would probably be way too tough. It would surely be a fun game to watch, but I want us to go through. But unfortunately we will not be able to play at our home arena if we would go to the third round and to the group rounds, cause the arena is only approved for first and second qualifying round by UEFA. And yesterday I found out that our best player Cesar Santin will join Danish club FC Copenhagen in a week..

  • Hopefully another player can replace him well..we have some quite good possible replacements too, like Abiola Dauda who scored two of the goals in Luxembourg at Thursday. I think he will be the one replacing him. I hope it won't make a too big difference.

  • I hope so too, but i think that Kalmar should follow IFK Gothenburg's example and start recruiting young Swedish talents instead of looking outside their borders for help. It would do them and Swedish football a lot of good.

  • Yea, well we have some talented Swedish players too, like the three Elm-brothers, especially Viktor Elm and Rasmus Elm. I think I mentioned Viktor before that he'll probably go to Heerenveen when the season is over. The problem is most Swedish talents always go to a bigger club in another, bigger league in Europe both to play on a better football level and to make more money. By the way I might actually go to see Kalmar FF live in Kalmar today against Malmö FF, it's not completely sure though.

  • But if the weather is good we'll probably go.

That will also be the last game in Kalmar for Cesar Santin so he will probably get a big goodbye today. And quite many spectators will come too according to the local newspaper. The arena is not so big so it's not a big number of people, but for that arena it's many.

  • yeah i hope you go too, i say it's Kalmar 2-0 Malmo. I think this can be Kalmar's year and win the Allsvenskan.

  • Yea I did go there, it finished 3-2 to Kalmar. The first half was very good we had the lead 3-0 but the second half was really really bad from us and we let Malmö get into the game again..they were even close to scoring 3-3,our keeper saved a ball on the goal line in the end of the game.A Malmö player got a red card in that situation though for going in to hard with a sliding tackle against the goalie.Oh well we won,and Cesar scored in his last game 1-0 on a penalty.Patrik Ingelsten scored 2 too

  • all Kalmar have to do now is just keep up the momentum and the Allsvenskan is theirs.

  • Yea, but unfortunately we lost yesterday on my birthday against Malmö 3-2 away..we had the lead 1-2 but Malmö player Agon Mehmeti came in from the bench and scored two late goals....(doesn't that name sound albanian by the way?).

Now we're going to play on Thursday our second game against the Luxembourgian team, but we should already be through no matter what, so it's not that interesting really. Next round will be more interesting probably. Hope we can still keep the lead in the league too.

  • yeah Agron Mehmeti is definetly an Albanian name, possibly from Kosovo, Kalmar should get through to the second qualifying round in the UEFA CUP, i predict a 2-0 or another 3-0 win for you guys. As for Vllaznia, well we only need a draw, if that's enough i'm content with it, i would just simply like to see them in the next round, but when you hold a 1-2 away advantage then things get less sticky at home, all we have to do is not concede a goal in the first half at least, then the tie is ours.

  • Yea, as I thought.

Yea I also expect a quite big win tomorrow too, and our coach can rest some of the best players for more important games in the league later, since we still won with 0-3 away too. Yea, Vllaznia has a great chance of going through, hope they can take it. Göteborg played today by the way in the qualifications for the CL and got 1-1 at home against Basel....so a big advantage for Basel of course, but they are a little better team so..Neither team created a lot of chances today.

  • Hey Jontiswede, Kalmar 10-1 jeez, no mercy for the boys from Luxembourg, oh well, when you hve the opportunity why not take it? Vllaznia made it through as well, the draw wasn't as bad as i expected you guys got KAA Gent, it's not that bad, Swedish teams and Belgian teams are about equal, where as we Vllaznia got SSC Napoli, i know it sounds hard, but we might as well give a good show against an illustrious UEFA CUP team and possibly grab the headlines and turn a few heads, good luck to Kalmar!

  • Yea, I saw the game on TV, that team was not much of opposition. 7-1..we could have scored a few more too and that team couldn't creater many opportunities, their goal came in like the 90th minute on a counter-attack and one of their players came free. We already had 7-0then so..it didn't matter. Yea we got that Belgian team which I'm quite happy with, I think we have a good chance to go through, could have been far worse. I also think our leagues are about equal.Napoli, yea very hard, good luck

  • to you too.

hope you can surprise but we'll see..have no idea how good vllaznia really are either cause I have never seen them play. but maybe you can get a good result at home like your national team can, and then hold on to a draw or something away. We'll see.

  • by the way, since the olympics are coming up soon, does your country have any big medal hopes there? I haven't really heard about many Albanian sportsmen, so that's why I'm asking.

  • No we don't have any serious hopes for medals, we didn't get any in Sydney 2000 or Athens 2004, but who knows we might get some here in Beijing, let's just hope. We participated in the winter games in 2006, and we had only one athlete, who came dead last in every race, so we are still building on athletics, the only sport that we might have some success is football, where we are known to sweat big teams, but other than that other sports are not strong points for us, our hopes lie in swimming.

  • Tung I'm sorry for answering so lately.

So eehm, what to tell, well Kalmar lost 2-1 against Gent away but we at least got the away goal and we haven't lost at home this season so we still have a good chance. Sweden also played a friendly game today at home against France, France won 2-3 but it was not a bad game from us. Our coach actually tried a new (!)playing system today. Concerning the olympics, it has been a big failure for us, only getting three silvers and a bronze that was disqualified

  • how have your ones gone?

I haven't seen any from there yet.

Hopefully Sweden can get a few more medals now but our hopes are not very big anymore....especially not our gold chances....but apparently we have one in sailing according to the sports newspapers.

Too bad Carolina Klüft quit with the hepathlon, that would have been a sure gold for us. But she is in the long jump final now at least....not a very big hope for us though but maybe, maybe....

  • It's OK, i've been watching the Olympics as well, we have done better than previous times, although no medals, one of our athletes came in 6th place, that's a big improvement, yeah i saw the Sweden France game, and Henke scored, i didn't know he was still with the national team? As fro Kalmar, i think they will beat Gent at home and qualify, for Vllaznia it's all over, we lost to Napoli 0-3 at home, the Albanian national side beat Liechtenstein 2-0 yesterday, can't wait for the 6th of September

  • Ah ok, in what sport was that 6th place?

For Sweden it went far worse than it has done for about 100 years....we only got 4 silvers and 1 bronze (and one disqualified)..no golds..though we were unlucky sometimes, a female runner on 110 meters hurdles fell on the first hurdle in her semifinal, a rower who had the best time of all in the semifinals but got a cold before the final where he finished last..and his semifinal time was better than the one that won in the final..and we had a lot of 4th

  • places.

But except from that it was a great Olympics, with many fantastic things like Usain Bolt's running and so on. China organised it very well. Both the opening and ending ceremonies were cool too.

Ah you saw that game? I think the 3-5-2 worked well offensively for us, but defensively not that well. I don't know if it's the best system for us, but maybe we should try it Tirana at the 6th september, who knows. Oh and tomorrow Kalmar plays against Gent at home.

  • oops now I wrote something wrong, Kalmar plays in the day after tomorrow not tomorrow. And I meant "try it IN Tirana" of course

  • But you should watch out for the 3 defenders, if our guys get past the middle, then i don;t think the 3 defenders will cut it in holding the flanks, so if i were Lagerback, i would go with the traditional 4-4-2, because i know for a fact that Albania will use the 4-3-2-1, in order to jam the midfield, but remember, watch out for counterattacks from the flanks, if Stoor or Alexandersson can't control the flanks then Sweden will struggle, let's just hope it will be an entertaining game.

  • HEy congrats, Kalmar 4-0, you guys got a stiff opposition now, with Feynoord, wish you the best.

  • Well, the 6th place we got was Romela BEgaj, the weightlifter, but it's ok, i mean we did well on these Olympics, if you can call a good performance without medals, but we have done a lot worse, so it's an improvement. As for Kalmar, i wouldn't worry, i think they will surpass Ghent. Oh yeah September 6th is coming awfully fast, can't wait. The 3-5-2, could work against Albania, because we tend to counterattack from the flanks, so the 5 midfielders, could do the job.

  • Ah ok.

Yea we won 4-0, those numbers were a bit too big though, but still it's a win against a quite good team. Feyenoord will be really tough though.

And yea, I'm not sure what is the best, as I think I said before it's good offensively but not defensively. We'll see how Lagerbäck chooses to play.

By the way one of the three Elm-brothers in Kalmar, Viktor Elm, is in the troop against Albania and against Hungary the game after that, but I doubt he will get to play a lot though.

  • He will probably be at the bench and hopefully he will get to jump in and play a few minutes at least.'

Today Anders Svensson got injured in a game though so if he can't play that might get Viktor an even bigger chance of getting at least some playing time. I really hope he gets some cause he is worth it and he's really talented. Oh and you should see the goal he scored against Sundsvall yesterday..what a shot.

  • We only had 6 athletes in Sydney and now we are going to have 11, almost double, so the more we have the more likely the chances are for medals, but i'm only hoping, there is no concrete belief that we will get any, hell even a bronze or a silver will do, if one of our athletes get gold then woohoo for us.

  • In Euro 2008 Qualifying we beat Luxembourg 2-0 at home and 0-3 away. The thing i can hardly wait for is the second qualifying draw for UEFA CUP, if Vllaznia make it through i want to see who they come up against, and Kalmar is all but guranteed a place, and i only hope they don't land a team like Aston Villa, Rosenborg, or some other tough team. I hope that Kalmar and Vllaznia both get easy opposition in the second round, and hopefully they can progress at least to the third round.

  • true, 2002 was the tournament of shocks and of mohawks. It's the same with me when i watch Albania, i don't really notice if they are playing bad or not, or attacking football, i don't care how they play as long as they win their games, it is like that when you watch your home team play. There have been some boring games in past tournaments like in World Cup 2006, the game France 0-0 Swiss, it was a carbon copy of Romania France in this tournament.

  • yea that's true. Same here, when I watch a team I support I only care about us winning, if we do it defensively with 1-0 after a counter-attack or with 4-0 after perfect offensive play doesn't matter. Yea, I don't really remember that France-Switzerland game though....only that it finished with a draw....don't know if I missed it or just don't remember it.

  • If you recollect Denmark's group for World Cup 2006, it was like this, Ukraine, Turkey, Denmark, Greece, Albania, Georgia, and Kazakhstan. Coach Morten Olsen, commented, give me another Group, because he knew very well what the eastern teams were capable of, messing up your game and making you drop points, we got an away goal in Copenhagen, Kazakhstan did the same, and Georgia, Ukraine, and Greece, got points of the Danish, so i'm very glad we landed in this group, it could have been much worse.

  • When i see the three western teams in our group i think, great, our young players could really use this for experience, and it will do them good to face some quality opposition. Well anyways can't wait until September 6th, it will e one heel of a game, and if Albania picks up a positive result, we play Malta four days later, and if the three points are gathered without any fuss, then who knows what could happen, we could go on a roll.

  • but i'm getting carried away, let's just see how the first game goes. If we don't qualify, and i really mean this, I would want Sweden to win the group and Denmark as runners up. I guess you could say i'm an admirer of Scandinavian football. One of my favorite managers is Sven-Goran Eriksson. and my favorite club in Sweden is IFK Gothenburg. Even though i'm tempted to say Henke is my favorite Swedish player, i'm going to have to go with Marcus Allback.

  • And I fear how our smaller and less stronger forwards will fare against the likes of the towering poles called Olof Mellberg and Petter Hanson. I guess you could say it would be a match of two very different teams, in style, and mentality. You got your strong and Athletic Swedes v.s. the plucky and elusive Albanians. You guys play the long ball game and we tend to keep the ball on the ground, it should be one hell of a match. Let's hope for lot's of goals, like 2-2 or 3-3. Taksumike!

  • Russia r our frriends, they are fucking the serbs in all fronts even worse then we ALbanians fuck them....

Albanians and Russians should be friends as we both consider serbian people like cattle.

  • fuck grees fuck russia from kosovo fuck them 4ever

  • qo esht shqiperia
