When this was out.. I was 16... pal on my cricket team had a sister, 15, whose morals were as flexible as Gordon's girlfriend ..and yes, her name was Julie... so oh boy, did we make hay while the sun shone... She is a tart, he's very cheap...
The very first Oasis! They have the same haircut, same guitar and same level of talent. I just bet it was them who wrote Champagne thingy, or whatever it's called.
When youre 47 the thought of the summer of 78 aged 15 is heaven ; Night Fever , Like Clockwork, Hong Kong Garden, Forever Autumn, Rezillos Top of the Pops, Northern Lights, Man with the child in his eyes etc.etc. Revolver on tv ; Stranglers,TRB, Elvis Costello ; Grange Hill series 1 ; getting drunk underage in the pub on best bitter and feeling like a real man ! Still not in year 11 or form 5 as it was then ; World Cup Argentina !
Anyone called "Gordon," at the time, had a hard time at school for a while..
I loved the fact that they got away with saying "tart," "bitch" and "puff," on TOTP..probably be edited out.. as non p.c. these days, but even for some of us "puffs," it's still bloody hilarious..
@neorich59 Ha ha, well said my friend..Gordon's did indeed get a hard time when this was out, and I was guilty of the name calling. ;) You big puff! Ha ha, only joking from a very open minded 46 year old..:-)
@ellycat Well, better than being called an "old" puff! :O) I did a fair bit of the name calling too! I totally agree with kenfig also, this was a great summer, I can remember going to night clubs when they'd play no end of variety, you'd move from the latest punk hits, to Bowie, to the Stones, to Disco, to Gary Glitter and even, shock horror, slow dances..there was something for everyone!

Probably the 2nd most stupid song I've ever heard, with Splodgeness "two pints of lager and a packet of crisps" being the 1st

@neorich59, It's spelt "poof" not "puff", puff means blowing or puffing on a cigarette.

@001Nigel
I know how it's spelt ta.
The reference is to the way it's pronounced in the song!

Pam Ayres is NOT Graham Fellows' sister to the best of my knowledge. Pam grew up in Berkshire whereas Graham, like me, is a Northern git.
